Why won't my car start?
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to jnorion's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
If you're Sure that the Battery is Completely charged, I bet that there is a corroded wiring's contact, around the alternator; and when you swapped alternators, the wiring's contact got somehow "Cleansed" but Not completely, only enough to allow certain part of the voltage, to Flow... Also there might be a false contact at the Groundings / bolts to the Ground. So, I kindly suggest you to unplug all the contacts and do a good Cleansing at each plug, using Electronic Contact Cleaner and some fine sandpaper will do the Trick; also to the bolts that provides the Grounding to the system, and report back the Results. Good Luck, Kind Regards. -
Remember the Cross-Ground wiring from side R to side L, it Shall be changed to independent wiring in order to let a new stereo to work good. ~► http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/48427-ea82-stereo-installation/ Kind Regards.

Your Driver's side is our Passenger's side here, and there, next to the DOJ for the axle, is the point where both Heads' exhausts join together in a Box, where only one pipe comes out as the Tail Pipe; inside that box on the USDM Specs EA82, is the primary Catalytic Converter; said junction with a Box is known here as the "Y" pipe. I don't know if the AUDM specs' "Y" pipes has that Box with Catalytic Converter inside, but the LADM (Latin American Domestic Market) Specs, only has a plain "Y" junction, because Catalytics here are not legally required; but in any case, there should be a Heat Shield, made of two pieces of thin sheetmetal, bolted together, wrapping said Junction, or "Y" pipe, whose purpose is to prevent the DOJ boot from Melting, from that exhaust heat. Now, here is where Photos are really Needed, we don't know what exactly do you have in the Junction point, but whatever it is... (a Box with Catalytic, an Empty Box or a plain "Y" junction) ...it Shall have said metallic Heat shield in there, otherwise the Boot for the DOJ will melt for sure. I kindly suggest you to share at least, the web link to your Photo Album that you Created at image shack, so we can see better what is Happening there, and thus will assure a best help for you. Kind Regards.

Replacement Car Seat
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to Alexx's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I've been thinkin' the same... My plan is to remove the upholstery from the back support, and using the heat from an autogenous welder torch on both sides' metal rods, I will twist the seat further to the Forward... I plan to do that with the front seat in place, and I pushing it while sitting from the back seat... But I haven't had enough time to do that... yet. Kind Regards. -

Exactly what happened to me, my Subie was rear ended on December 2003, so hard that I had whiplash, and the seat's back support still needs to be re-bent forward a couple of inches... -

maximizing 91 loyale mpg
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to tennsubaru's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Yes, almost all performance Chips are a Swindle, except very Few that are intended for Real High Performance Cars, so forget about such a thing for your Subie. Keeping the tires at the maximum inflation pressure, according to what says on their sidewalls, a clean air filter and clean Sparkplugs at the proper Gap, will help a little to gain extra mileage from a full tank; but also your driving behaviour makes a Difference, if you keep the gas pedal floored, will use more gas, than gently pressing it... you know. Kind Regards. -

You're Welcome. Maybe you're posting from a Smartphone or Tablet / non-Windows environment device, and thus explains the lack of options, like the ones that appears after a Right Click over a Photo... Yes, I've seen Cheap parts, such like Ball Bearings, getting play very easy and having short lifespans. Well, could be that certain internal parts might been exposed to rusting agents, such like Coolant on combustion chambers, the lack of a sparkplug making rain or debris to access there, etc ... and there might be a Seized part ... a charged hydraulic lifter ... it is hard to be sure without being there to inspect the engine, but you can compare it with the other one on your daily driver, when you do the timing belts' Job. Good Luck! ... Kind Regards. -

It is a Shame that you're selling that Lifted Monster Subie. Found it @ Craigslist: ~► http://seattle.craigslist.org/kit/cto/5314424106.html Kind Regards. -
Long ago, I saw online, photos of a third gen Subaru Leone (EA82) / Loyale, with Fog Lights that seemed to be somehow, "Built-in" to the grille, but I never had the chance to look at photos that shows detailed angles to be completely sure about that; but today I came across this photos, shared by Rienk van der Ploeg, at one of the many Facebook's Subaru groups. This is a Photo of his nice Subie, which is an EA71 (1600) european third gen: A Closer look to the special Grille: I sign the Photos that are hosted on my behalf, on my account at the Photobucket servers, to whom I pay an annual fee, to allow these Photos to be seen here and share with you. Could that be an Aftermarket Grille, or maybe an Special Option for certain European Countries? Kind Regards.
