Here you can see my new Weber carburetor, next to my decade old one:

I wanted another Weber since long ago, because I wanted to do the fitment Tests on the EA82 equipped with Power Steering pump, using the taller adaptor plate, to which I refer on my writeup. Remember that I had to trim out the Choke from my first Weber, because it hit the back of the Power Steering Pump's reservoir tank when it was installed with the thin, two plate adaptor that came with the K-731 kit from Redline-Weber; and with this new Weber, I could be Sure that the taller, single plate adaptor that I found, is the answer to that problem. Besides doing the fitting tests, the fact that this Weber is a Decade newer than my first one, plus having choke and an Anti-Dieseling fuel cutoff solenoid, were a good motivation for sure ... ...

The Gentleman only wanted to have a Quiet 22R and get rid from the shiny looking, small air filter's box from the engine's bay, so we made an agreement, on which I had to obtain an Stock carburetor from a Junk Yard's 22R plus its air filter's box and element; clean and install them on his pick up truck; in exchange, he gives me as payment, the new 32/36 Weber carburetor, complete with the adaptor plate, air filter's box, element, etc... It was super easy to find good used parts for a 22R locally, the price was Right; so I did it; the next day's afternoon, the Gentleman went driving happy his 22R, and now I have a new, Complete Weber carburetor with Choke and "anti-dieseling" fuel cutoff solenoid.

Unintentionally, I obtained another Weber carburetor. A local elder Gentleman who recently purchased an used but restored 1985 Toyota Hi-Lux pick up truck, with the carbureted 22R engine, was seeking help to get rid from the ricey "pimp my ride" styled add-ons that the car had, such like the noisy "wet fart can" exhaust system, and the noisy intake's induction sound... The Gentleman only wanted to make his ride, elegantly silent; so a friend of mine who substituted the "wet fart can" Exhaust, with a completely new system that included a Resonator and a Muffler; sent the Gentleman with his Toyota, to my place, seeking help with the induction noise, which resulted to be caused by (surprise) a brand new Weber carburetor. It was a new 32/36 "progressive" genuine Weber carburetor, which featured electric Choke and the Fuel cutoff Solenoid, often known as the "Anti-Dieseling" solenoid.

I didn't wrote regarding the problem you're facing, but I'll update my Writeup with the information I wrote on my post above; and as I wrote there, the Bracket might be bended towards the Carburetor, which makes the travel to be shorter; once the Bracket is properly set, the accelerator pedal provides full travel for the accelerator on the Weber carburetor... Unless there is a Hidden problem, such like an accelerator Cable that is not the proper one, or is about to fail; or a bent accelerator pedal / pedal box. Good Luck! ... Kind Regards.

Usually, that problem occurs when you are not using the Accelerator's Cable Bracket, supplied with the Weber, or if it has been Bent towards the Carburetor; in case it is there but bended, I kindly suggest you to Remove it from the carburetor's base First, then bend it again to let the Accelerator's Cable be farther from the Carburetor, and re-place everything together. That is exactly what I was trying to say, in my post above. The O-ring might get somehow, "Swallowed" by the coolant flow, with time... I don't know, but I would change it for the right one, as soon as possible. Kind Regards.

The EA81, EA82 and EJ18 Subaru Engines, are 1.8L The Gasket needed for the Thermostat Housing, in the EA82 engines, is Subaru Part Nº 11072AA000 see: ~► Here. Kind Regards.

The 1985 Touring Wagon, has the EA82 engine, or the EA71? ... ... The Manual choke was used by Subaru on their EA71 engined Touring Wagons; I kindly suggest you to share some photos of your wagons here, so we could help you better. Yes, that is Horrible! ... ... That is an Awesome story, good way to "Resurrect" a good ol' EA82 wagon; the ATF had freed stuff inside but maybe more miles driving plus a new Oil Pump might help to elongate her lifespan. I like the fact it was Free, nothing can Beat free for sure... I wish I could find such a deal in Honduras... because even with those problems, that Wagon would be expensive here... Confused the + with the - ... Sorry. The 40 offset on the Nissan wheels I have, Really looks and works absolutely Perfect for the L wagon EA82, they are like factory fitment and thus means that the Bearings on each wheel will not suffer from the wheels being sticking out too much. I used to own a 4X140 wheel that came off a Citröen, the wheel was brand Cheviot, but made in France instead of Australia, and has less offset than the Subaru ones, somewhere the ~ 30 and I remember that there were 13" and also 14" cheviots. Have you checked for Vacuum Leaks around the Carburetor and its Base? Any unhooked Vacuum line? Kind Regards.

That is True, the Peugeot wheels does stick out too much. However, without the Lift, I was using Aftermarket wheels that had same problem than the Peugeot ones, sticking out too much. So, recently I obtained a set of Nissan's 240sx 15" wheels, whose offset seems to be Perfect for the L series / EA82 wagon; they has -40 offset and stays inside the wheel's well like the factory ones. By the way, what was *exactly* the Factory offset measurement for the EA82 / L wagons? Kind Regards.
