Dear Thomas, I kindly suggest you to install something inbetween the Fan Blades and the Radiator itself; in my case, I used thin, vertical metal plates going from the upper screws to the lower screws, the idea is to avoid the Blades from the fans, to "Touch" the Radiator cooling lines; you can use oversized washers... you know because of the Sliding design of the aftermarket mounts.   7. The most usual things I find on someone else's cars, are Wrenches. But once I found a MacDonald's Hamburger, still in its Box, inside a paper bag, half crunched between the Battery and the Trunk ... ... and even weirder is that right after I told to the car's owner: "What's that?" he unwrapped and ate it in front of me ... ... saying "It's Hot" ... He was searching for his hamburguer since the night before. What happened is that his car started to misfire while they were on an Auto Mac, so he pulled to the roadside and was looking in the night what happened, without luck, so he drove to his home (nearby) and called me on early morning; it was a failing ignition coil pack. He had forgot the bag over the battery, then. Kind Regards.
  8. Just an Small Update: Almost Seven years have passed Already since I installed this Awesome 55W H.I.D. Dual Beams 5000K Lights, and they still are working absolutely Flawlessly, I can't imagine to go back to Halogens; especially with so many people driving with their horrid Blinding Led Bars' lights in almost the half of the cars around...   9. The Rubber Boot that I was using, for the inner side of the C. V. Joint, was Wrong. I was using a Thick one that rubbed against the Engine's oil pan. I searched for the Proper inner rubber Boot. I found a torn inner rubber boot on the Passenger's side axle, I thought that there was something wrong with the design on that area, because the rubber boot passes extremely Close to the oil pan and even it rubs against it, and the extra Heat shorten its lifespan... However, I decided to remove both sides' Axles from the "KiaStein" and clean them, regrease them, place new Rubber Boots, and clamps, and finally, reinstall them.

  12. On daily use, usually deep acceleration to Redline. In that case, it worth to contact the Engine's rebuilders (CCR) and ask them to check it. Maybe some part was not installed as it meant to be, or the bolts got overtorqued. Kind Regards.
  13. Maybe that EA81 ran out of oil, due to a clogged passage? Dear Thomas, The "Made in Spain" ones are Not knok off, they're Genuine ones, because the original factory on italy has been under Legal problems, they moved to Spain the Production... but are Genuine. The Knock off are the ones made in China.   16. Your Subie is Doing that accelerations by it self? YOUR CAR IS POSSESSED! Just Kidding! That should have to do with a Vacuum leak on the intake, try to spray carb cleaner around. Kind Regards.
  17. Right after you drain the Gear oil from the Transmission, I kindly suggest you to check the Drain Plug bolt, because it is Magnetic and it usually held metal debris there, to avoid further damage of the internals, in case of grinding gears... Let us know the Results. Kind Regards.

  19. Loose Axle in one of the Wheels? However the Noise is not common, it might be something to do with the Linkage... Are you sure that it is completely onto first gear? ... Does make same noise in Neutral? Kind Regards.

Sorry, but I have to disagree with that statement, because many companies are still making and selling cheap, Bad quality motor oils, with APi services quality classifications as low as SA (from the early 1930's era) and actual requirements are ~ SN nowadays, see: As an Example, Look at this "Made in USA" cheap motor oils, available locally: (Photos taken with my cellphone from Quarts of gallon Bottles, Found at local gas stations I don't buy cheapo oils) Kind Regards. ► Edited to highlight certain words in yellow.
  21. Regarding the Tires... I see that you're using pretty Taller ones which incise directly on the Acceleration, especially from Lower speeds; why don't you try smaller diameter ones? Kind Regards.

I own my "BumbleBeast" since new, and during all these thirty years, I've poured 20W~50 Oil on it; I used mineral until two years ago, when I started to use to Sinthetic, I use Valvoline's "Max Life" for High Mileage engines, which makes my EA82 to be Quieter, somehow. I know this thread is Regarding EA81, but the EA82 is pretty similar, so my experience might add a little to the Thread; mainly because older engines has wider tolerances than new ones, and using a very "Thin" oil on these EA engines is somehow, an Overkill that might lead to premature wear. At the end of this Writeup, you can see a Chart from a Subaru Manual, regarding SAE grades to be used, in relation with Climate's temperatures; also you can Download an Australian made Test that shows you the Shearing made on a Machine, using different motor oils as metal-to-metal barrier: ~► http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/126284-how-to-determine-which-is-the-best-motor-oil-for-your-car/ Kind Regards.
  23. The axles will wear faster if they do work at an increased angle for sure.
