  1. Hmmmm Under my step 6 is this CAUTION: Do not tighten bolts more than 90°.
  2. To Confirm is this the proper method for installingt he head? Tighten cylinder head bolts. (1) Apply a coat of engine oil to washers and bolt threads. (2) Tighten all bolts to 29 N⋅m (3.0 kg-m, 22 ft-lb) in numerical sequence. Then tighten all bolts to 69 N⋅m (7.0 kg-m, 51 ft-lb) in numerical sequence. (3) Back off all bolts by 180° first; back them off by 180° again. (4) Tighten bolts 1 and 2 to 34 N⋅m (3.5 kg-m, 25 ftlb). (5) Tighten bolts 3 , 4 , 5 and 6 to 15 N⋅m (1.5 kg-m, 11 ft-lb). (6) Tighten all bolts by 80 to 90° in numerical sequence.
  3. I have a HG kit I was using but decided to go with OEM. What a difference, not even close. Is there a correct orentatation for the gasket? which side is which if there is one.
  4. What about a replacing the whole front cluster. Would the hookup be there allready for a OEM look?
  5. follow-up ----- Since you drilled the head you had to of removed it so you had to do a head gasket job. Any reason why you did not swap the head if you had it off. I never heard anyone tapping the head or even trying it. Nice to hear it done successfully.
  6. FSRBIKER - You drilled the head and the air intake? or did you just swap the head over?
  7. Your shop may have used a after market gasket. I did and it started leaking 5K later. Your gasket would not happen to be blue would it?
  8. I had the same thing happen to me but I was able to start it up. The shop charged me 500.00 to replace the harmonic balancer. If your car is not starting my gues is your battery is gone. How many times did you to try to start or how long did it run after the belt snapped. It could have been sliiping well before it snapped off thus not charging the battery
  9. At least you got 18 years from her. It could be worse, this guy did it to his 06. There is no way warrenty would cover this. http://www.civicforums.com/forums/36-mechanical-problems-vehicle-issues-fix-forum/304352-hit-puddle-possible-hydrolock.html
  10. This is about the sadest post I ever have ever read here. Sounds like it did hydrolock. How much gas got in there?
  11. Not that it is difficult, but time consuming. The engine or the trans needs to come out.
  12. I knew it could be done. I have that big C clamp, looks like I am off to home depot for some pvc pipe. Thanks for the idea.
  13. Has anyone replaced the valve oil seals in their garage? without the 1) 499718000 VALVE SPRING REMOVER and 2) 498267600 CYLINDER HEAD TABLE. I have the seals in the kit I purchased but since the valve is sunk in the Sears clamp type tool can't get in there. Worst case I have the engine shop do it but I was looking to save 60 per head.
  14. I used a swivel head with a 14MM socket on a 8 inch extension sitting a 1/2 inch Drive
  15. There are 2 rubber o-rings. One in the pick up pipe you will need to remove it to get to that ring The other is in the conner of inside of the pan. If you reseal the oil pump that has a small o-ring as well
  16. The rear main seal along with the front crank seal. Reseal the oil pan if leaking and replace both gaskets inside. I use the black sealant not the grey on everything.
  17. I have a 96 2.5, I am looking for other year and model oil pans that will work. Thanks for the help
  18. Get to the dealer for a blue bottle, ots wortha shot for 2 bucks. Sounds like you are on borrowed time
  19. When I got the donor car (200 bucks) the guy included a complete head gasket set and bolts (aftermarket). I allready have 60 bucks in OEM seals... I really want to do a HG job on the 2.5 ... I think I may continue...
  20. I am doing the headgasket on my 2.5 with 190K and I was not going to do the rings. Now I am on the fence If I want to do the rings, or just chuck the engine I have no idea how to do them..... Sorry for the hyjack
  21. If the coolant temp sensor was bad it would be open. That means that the moment you turned your car on the fans would come on. If it does not come on till its at temp i would say its not your coolant temp sensor. But, If you can do the work yourself its a 25 dollar part. I got mine from NAPA.
