And here is your cheap fix. Go to a parking lot and perform several tight figure eights. It worked for me to lossen the clutch paks up. The second cheap fix is adding in the limited slip deffeential oil from Dodge driving for a few miles and chaning the fluid. I did not have to get to this stage but people on this forum have suggested it. As stated make sure your tires are all the same and at the correct air pressure.

I let my knock sensor stay on and off about a year. Being broken did not cause any harm. I found one on an old boneyard motor for a few dollars. I have seen people get away with the NAPA and Pepboys version with no problems. I may get some piling on with that comment. The Knock sensor is a common replacement item.

I am going to give it to you straight. You have 2 issues. The first is you probally have a blown head gasket. The second issue is a) knock sesnor or O2 sensor. My advice..... Get to the Subaru dealer and purchase the 4oz blue bottle of coolant conditioner ASAP and add it in. While you are there get a price on an engine compression test to check your HG you may need it if the blue bottle does not work. Join the club you are not alone.

The swap to a 2.2 is very easy. I have done 2 in my garage with a toolset I bought at Costco and a engine lift I got off Craigslist. I did need to purchase a swivel head wrench and a breaker bar. Take a pic of the car inside and out and post it. Look what this guy got for a OBW with a BAD engine. 1900. I still can't believe it. Regarding the AC recharge, I did one in my driveway yesterday from a kit I bought at Walmart http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=003&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=130196592250&rd=1

I shoulod keep a cut an past of my answer. The collant all over your tire is from exhaust gas blowing your coolant resevoir empty. You have a busted head gasket. Sounds like you have a 2.5 but you really have a 2.2. This could be the first case of a 2.2 with a bad head gasket. From how you describe the car sounds like its not worth a 2,000 dollar repair.
