Hello, Check out my post. I did this job on a 98 OBW. I have listed the part numbers that will get put you in the ballpark. The cheapest OEM parts I could find were at www.heubergersubaruparts.com. Email them any questions with parts and they will help you. If you are doing your own work I suggest buying new parts here given how much you are saving in labor. Any parts you pull used are 15 to 20 years old and worn. Http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/121116-at-light-flashes-16-times-what-to-do/?fromsearch=1

If you have rotted exhaust welding will only do so much and work for so long. Buy a new system like this and have your local exhaust shop install. This is for an 06 https://www.upsw.com/06-subaru-outback-25i-wagon-nonturbo-resonator-muffler-exhaust-system/?gclid=Cj0KCQjwn-bWBRDGARIsAPS1svvaHNJTm72uWCkBeOOJ8JZOCMfU8L4mqvF3zGbHGg-1tSW05YL2eB0aAmAcEALw_wcB

I live in the Norteast. I know rust. I can't wrap my head around how a pin snaps without applying more pressure then is normal. This is my opinion as a customer. I think they should have stopped the work at the point were normal pressure was not working to let you make the call that new parts would be needed due to the condition of the existing parts.

I would caution against using any 25 year old AC parts. What color is the oil dripping out of the compressor? Check out the links below. I completed a full AC rebuild. There are other parts you should replace at the same time. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/163981-98-outback-ac-work-compressor-dryer-and-evaporator/ Reman for $300 https://www.ebay.com/itm/Reman-AC-Compressor-A-C-Clutch-Fits-Subaru-SVX-1992-1993-1994-1995-1996-1997/312063228912?_trkparms=aid%3D555017%26algo%3DPL.CASSINI%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20150817211758%26meid%3Dae9dc79dbba44b68a8960eb7f9983512%26pid%3D100507%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D1%26%26itm%3D312063228912&_trksid=p2045573.c100507.m3226

Replacing the clutch pack is not a bad job. It is time consuming. I did the job a few years ago. check out the link below. You may find that you need the reduction gear. With your symptoms you may have a sheared off or damaged gear. Look for deep grooving where the plates can get hung up on. This needs to be pressed in and off. 31450AA260 GEAR COMPLETE-REDUCTION DRIVE Http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/121116-at-light-flashes-16-times-what-to-do/?fromsearch=1

There is still alot of important electronics that appear not to have been submerged and that is a good thing. Go for it. I would replace ECU. Link below on ebay. https://www.ebay.com/itm/05-Subaru-Impreza-RS-2-5L-ECM-ECU-Engine-Computer-Control-Module-Unit-22611AJ940/222649276431?fits=Year%3A2005%7CMake%3ASubaru%7CModel%3AImpreza&hash=item33d6ee580f:g:QJsAAOSwmgJY3AX1&vxp=mtr

Over 10 years ago I spent $400 to get my failed harmonic balancer replaced at a local Indy shop only to blow a head gasket a few months later. Being charged that much started my journey into a weekend warrior mechanic. The last one I replaced cost me about $40 https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Engine-Harmonic-Balancer-Dorman-594-129-fits-90-96-Subaru-Legacy-2-2L-H4/222692292460?fits=Make%3ASubaru&hash=item33d97eb76c:g:8bcAAOSws6ZZ8ASm&vxp=mtr
