aww look my gl has i little cousin. damn nice car. i have an 88 gl same color same wheels mine are black though. same center caps. as for the sound w/ac on i am going to say pinging cause mine does the same when i use the ac and low octane. but i also have 312,xxx miles on her. I run 89 octane or higher and the pinging all but goes away. a little lucas fuel system treatment worked wonders for me. good luck with the new soob.

legacy seats in my gl help.
dragonfire replied to dragonfire's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I explained the process here http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=60027&highlight=impreza+seat+swap Kevin i got that far but for some reason the seat will lock only on the handle side and the right side still moves, have you run into that problem? i think maybe the legacy seat may be to heavy??? well lets just say that custom fitting will be called for if no solution can be found for the right side not locking. thanks for the link. that was a big help getting the rails installed usmb does it again. -

A Hack on the old front grill
dragonfire replied to bgd73's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
hmm. so taking out the grill caused it to heat up even more. i was thinking of taking a junkyard grill and putting wire mesh in it. wondering now if i should do that. -
my dad and i installed them today. took a little bit of cutting on the 20 year old plastic which some people might not approve, but how many people have legacy seats in their BRAT? i am trying to install legacy seats in my gl. here is what i encountered. with the gl seat rails on the legacy seats the right side rail does not lock and allows the right side of the seat to move while the left is locked in place. did you use legacy rails on yours? or did you use stock rails from your car?
-
wow, i have not seen a pug like that i liked till now!!!
-
ok i know i have seen post concerning legacy seats in brats and ea 81's i dont recall seeing anything for ea 82.( i tried a search but i got nothing on this particular subject unless i completly missed) so i bought the legacy seats any way. so this is how far i got. put my seat rails on the legacy seat so i know i have to modify the seat to take the rails. here is my problem. when i installed them i was able to adjust my slider but only one side locks and the other just slides on its own. so if get the seat where i want it the right side of the seat still moves. the legacy seat rails have locks on both sides the ea82 seat rails locks only on one side. has anyone had this problem with their seats from a newer car to an older one like this? is there a solution? thank you for reading this. any help is greatly appreciated.

i get about an average of 31 mpg. but that is suface streets and then the expressway. i do have 312,XXX miles on her so i hope my mileage gets better the more miles i rack up. lets say 40 mpg at 400,000. -
