Brat & XT6 CarbonFiber Hoods
dragonfire replied to Gravityman's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
yeah i saw that but i hoped that a renewed intrest might show that poeple really want this. i know a hood and trunk lid for my car would be great addition. nothing like carbon fiber on a $1,000 car. -
intrested myself. but price is going to be the only thing to hold me back. if it is over lets say 400 then it is to much for what i paid for the car. but hell yeah and a possible trunk lid as well. hhmm carbon fiber.

i have an 88 gl. i was wondering if there were heads that have exhaust ports differ from mine i have single ports on each side. are there heads with daul exhaust ports and could i swap them on my engine. or would it be worth the hassle? seems maybe dual ports would be better than one.

pricing will be what i paid to get materials. timing i am hoping to get started when i locate all parts needed. if all goes the way i hope it would could have something in 3 to 6 months. as i said before depends on demand for any of this. i hope to use my car as a canvas so other can see what it looks like on the car. not just pictures of the parts alone. i give it month t o see of demand for it by then  i could hit the ground running with parts i have by then.
-
if i cant find all the parts i need i just may have to. so far i think i have located atleast the lip spoiler and ea81 front air dam.still looking for rx kit. if anyone has pics of anything not mentioned above. please show me or tell about any style of stock stuff. custom will come depending on how much intrest there is. plus at work i can get supplies with employee discount. so the upstart would not be to intrusive to the wallet.

i had a thought about getting sets of different front air dams and body kits for these old subaru's. not really custom but remakes of factory stuff. i have found really hard to find these.the first ones would be fiberglass, if i can find a good set then maybe with a little work and trial and error. make a few molds and bam. repro body kits. if this sounds like some thing others would like i might just make more than for my car. also things like gl-10 rear lip spoiler. etc etc. if i have left out something or over looked it please let me know. rx body kit, front air damn ea 81 gl-10 lip spoiler. that is what i have seen from the factory. thanks Ken:headbang:

if you shop at advace, heres some tips..
dragonfire replied to Meeky Moose's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
dc 29 or lakeland warehouse in here in florida seem to be the best, for oem parts but the old stand by mater pdq in tennesse is my other choice. what about for you can you tell me if any around you has subie ea82 parts. most of them here (florida) dont really carry to many ea82 parts cause those cars did not sell as well as in the north. -

well, well, well, i guess since i am logistics for advanced auto parts. i need to post as well. ok as others have said, find parts pro that has been mechanic. or is good with cars. i have two in the store in front of the warehouse i am working for. if i go when those people are not working (example). i was looking for an oil pump seal. went before work had non mechanically inclinded parts pro he could not find it. with help from another like him. but when i go that afternoon the commercial guy i like to deal with found it in 20 seconds. but as for what has been said about loyale for ea8s parts and such he is right. just try to find parts pro that is a car person or mechanic and you should be fine. go pdq 71. woohooo. just be patient. if they can not find the part then try anohter parts pro get to know them cause if you have older gen subie they will know you. go subie. -
i was thinking of changing the halogen lights i have that are glass. to the four sealed beams. has anybody changed the front headlights to this converted set up? the way it looks it may be possible. but i need a closer look at the 4 headlight setup. gonna try to get out this weekend to see if they have crushed this 88 dl. hope fully i can get an idea if this will work.:-\ :-\

the rubber trim that goes around the windsheild is dried and loose. i wanted to replace the sealant under the glass. but without the trim rubber would not be much point. now i have tried the junkyards but not luck with getting one still useable. if anyone knows where i can find the trim for the front and possible for the rear as well would be great. florida sun just kills the rubber on vehicles. did the same to my f-100 ranger. but i can get the windsheild gasket easy. subaru on the other hand no luck yet. i did score well in the u pull it monday though i got two headlights like new. turn signals. hubcaps set of 4 and center caps 3 of those and all power window switches for all four doors. and many other small parts. it was like 42 bucks. woohoo. i would have gotten the dash from the loyale i got headlights out of but it auto. i have a 5 speed. if anyone needs a 92 loyale owners manaul. and sleeve that it comes in with other books you can have it et me know.
