I have an old 82 brat I am trying to get running. Have changed out the rusty gas tank. Also took a fuel pump from an 84. Hooked the pump straight to fuse box and ground. Can hear the fuel pump running, but no gas is getting to the carb. A I going to have to replace all the fuel lines. Please tell me NO!

1983 BRAT Automatic?
scooter0000 replied to scooter0000's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I finally made it down yesterday to look at the automatic brat. Needed rotors, brakes all the way around, valves were clicking, real rough idle, knock in the front end when turning, had to floor it at take off to get it to go, needed alignment, basically a lot of money needed to get it right. The guy wouldn't take less than $3k. I guess he thought I was a stupid woman and he could con me. Either that or he is so impressed with himself that he owns a brat, he doesn't realize it sucks. Oh we'll it really turned me off from wanting an automatic. It had a weber carb and dual exhaust but ran like crap. Are the turbo auto brats any better? -

I don't even own it. Just herald about it. But thanks for the info -
Did the 83 brat come in automatic non-turbo? I just stumbled upon one. I haven't seen it yet. I though the only auto brat there was was the turbo. Is there an automatic that isn't a turbo?

I have an 82 brat that has been sitting for a few years. I am sure the tank has rust in it. The seems to run well, but I don't want rust getting into the carb. So I need suggestions as to what I can do to the tank, filters, or whatever WITHOUT having to take the tank off and have it cleaned. Any advice will be great. Thanks

What do the steel wheels look like. I am thinking those are the ugly ones. I like the black ones the guy in previous post has on his wagon and I think those are 15s. -

So the 14" pugs sound like the way to go. Now finding them I am sure is not going to be easy! -

So if I use anything except the pugs I am going to have to have serious modifications done to the hubs correct. I hated the pugs until I saw the black ones on ur wagon. The black looks much better I think. I am thinking about having the brat painted black. So, maybe I should just find a set of those wheels. They are 15"? And yes I live in knoxville Tennessee. -
I have read through all of the post I can find about putting bigger wheels on a brat. Have seen lots of opinions and lifts, etc. I am a woman, and I can not cut fenders, weld, or install lift kits. So.... Just a simple question. Is it possible to put bigger wheels on a 2nd gen brat without any big ole modifications? OR if I find someone that can do the work for me, is there a lift kit available for a brat that will allow for 15" wheels?

Anyone know what brand shocks and struts were orignally used in the 80s brats? Or does anyone have suggestions for what brand I should replace them with?
