  1. Hi Rob

It would be great if you can get the hubs for me, I would certainly appreciate it. I have also replied to you in the wanted post.

    Cheers

    Lee

  2. This may be a solution but Brat Gen I and Gen 2 door rubbers have corners that a 'molded in' to suit the door opening. Aftermarket weather stripping would not.
  3. The answer is most likely you cannot buy them. You certainly cannot buy new door seals for a Gen 1 Brat, not sure about Gen 2 but I assume it is the same situation. Your best bet is to search for second hand ones in better condition then regularly treat them with glycerine to keep them supple.
  4. This sounds drastic but you can bend the metal where the door rubbers mount to give you more clearance so the doors can close. This was accepted practice to stop leaks many years ago (1960s and 1970s). Original rubber (if the FF1 has similar door rubber to later models) would have been shaped like a open 'C' in cross section. The newer bulb type is like a closed 'O' (again in cross section) which does not flatten out as much with the door closed. I hope this makes sense to read! This would explain why your doors at sticking out a bit. As mentioned you may have to bend the metal in a little to give correct clearance. By the way Kosta, the FF1 is coming along great!
  5. Nice! Love the Whitewalls, they set of the wheels to great effect.
  6. Basically nearly everything can be hard to get for these models! EBay and this site are usually the best bet for things like panels, indicators, interior pieces/trim, shocks/struts... Often a second parts car is a good option if you can find one. The stuff that is relatively easy to get are regular maintenance items, brake pads, spark plugs, rotors and so on...
  7. Yes it is possible to remove the lock cylinder, however, I have never done it personally. When I needed it done it was by a locksmith and he never showed me how (secret locksmith's business?). Perhaps some Datsun owners (search Datsun forums?) can provide this information? The keys and the lock cylinder are the same. I will check the parts catalog but I do not think it shows the cylinder as a separate piece from the rest of the lock assembly.
  8. BlindSight, Thought these images from the parts catalog may help:
  9. If I ever get to your side of the world I will gladly take that beer!
  10. It is from the final parts catalog for the 1400 and 1600 series. There is a different catalog for the Brumby/Brat/MV... Most of the parts are the same. Theoretically you should be able to replace the bushing but (at least in Oz) they will not sell the part separate... Frustrating!
  11. If you are talking about the bushing that fits inside the two ends of the mustache bar then you are out of luck! According to Subaru these are not a separate part. I will upload some parts catalog images if you like, this may help a little...
  12. These are an example of the sway bar bushings: ebay link From memory these work for the body mounts, sorry cannot remember if they work for the control arm mountings too.
  13. I brought two the last time around... And another two would be good, especially if it helps with another group buy. Hmmm... Soft, squishy rubber! Would really love to see the rear window gasket re-done, in both coupe and sedan... I wonder if this is possible?
  14. No an EA71 will not out perform the Datsun but an EA63S, of course!
  15. @ maudsland... I did bid and win the auction for the GSR but decided I did not really need another one! The owner was nice enough to let me out of the deal (it needed to be picked up straight away, which I could not do) and he has managed to sell it to someone else, for more money than the eBay auction. Yes the fact the engine was not original (single not dual exhaust ports - therefore unlikely to have the GSR cam and hotter bits) put me off quite a bit. I also have a GSR (brought from the same seller several years ago) plus two GL coupes (all 1974 models!?!) which was the ultimate reason for not going through with the deal. Hopefully someone else will get this one back on road. I actually spoke with the sellers son when I picked up the GSR but found him reluctant to talk about his GFT. The seller had a shed full of early Subarus and parts (all I took was the GSR rolling shell and a complete GL coupe - there was a very early 2wd wagon too) as I simply had no where to store it all. Such a shame as most of it would have been crushed I am sure! There was also an early 5 speed gearbox but there was no way they were going to sell that (kept for the son's GFT as a spare).
  16. Another magazine article from 1974 to share - Not sure I agree on the outcome! 'Breeding'? Give me a break...
  17. Really love this article and thought I would share...
  18. Cool bonvo! Here are some examples of the Tailender tent which was available in the late 1970s from Subaru Oz for $333.10
