  1. Yep, they look OK... However you need some badges! Here is a good place to make your own: http://www.heko.co.uk/index.html They have some for Subaru and the finished results are excellent quality. I have a set, in blue, on my '74 DL and they still look fantastic.
  2. Much easier to use the original cable and Subaru/Hitachi lever mounted on the Weber than mucking around with the generic bits supplied in the kits.
  3. I realise it would not be easy or cheap... But I wish the rear wheel arches could be put back to OEM... You seriously have to lower the rear!!
  4. Now that I think about, that was probably a clock not a tacho!! Oh well the effect would be the same...
  5. Just had a look on Yahoo Japan and it seems the cluster is not longer listed... But there is this rather cool steering wheel: http://page10.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/m116567865
  6. I agree the speaker grille looks much better 'OEM'. If you still want a tacho you could always hang it of the steering column shroud in a pod or the dashboard. If you look at the following catalogue it was obviously on option to stick it on the dash top: http://a15ff11300g.sakura.ne.jp/catalogue/SUBARU1000/42.10%20subaru1000/42.10%20subaru1000%20sub.html Of course later versions got a 3 dial instrument cluster: http://a15ff11300g.sakura.ne.jp/catalogue/SUBARU1000/43.2%20subaru1000%20&%20360%20salespaper/42.10%20SUBARU%20passenger%20car%20series.html There was one of those on Yahoo Japan some time ago... i wonder if it is still listed?
  7. Cool! Looks like a later 1300G. I wonder if Subie Gal needs some parts?
  8. Keeping the old ones on the road and going is more important than the style you use to do it! Good luck with you modifications.
  9. Is this correct? Both my '78 wagon and '80 Brumby have adjustable front struts. Two bolts on either side of the strut that adjust the sping perch height. They were standard fitment on late Gen 1 and most Gen 2 4wd models. I thought the US would have had the same setup? Although at full height adjustment the front suspension angles are... A bit like a bandy-legged giraffe!
  10. Hey Matt, where are you at with this? It has been some time since I received any messages about my adapters or even just you logging on to USMB. Is everything OK?
  11. +1 Also flow through ventilation needs to exit somewhere, otherwise it would not, well... Flow through!
  12. Here is a 2 door, not many around (Cheap when new - perhaps no one wanted the budget model?): You can clearly make out the hinged rear side windows.
  13. 2 door sedans had the hinge out windows too, although they are larger to match the higher roofline.
  14. Wow sancofw that is looking good, especially with the Sport mags!
  15. In Australia all the hardtops had the 5 speed as standard (Auto was an option later on). Was this not the case in the US?
  16. Japanese, Australian and European hardtops looked a little different:
  17. It doesn't actually have a wagon 'front clip' as you put it, that is how the hardtops were sold in the US: Cool rust patina too!
  18. OK let me put it another way, riding the clutch (which in essence is improper engagement/disengagement) will have a far greater impact on TOB life than sitting at the lights in gear. After all we do a agree a constantly spinning TOB is what will cause it to wear out. Of course that is IMHO and 25 years of anecdotal experience.
  19. Oh yeah, another give away the mirror is a Gen 2 is that the plastic bag has blue printing. Subaru used red for the earlier models.
  20. Not without cutting or modifying the frame rails in the engine bay. An EA82T is simply too wide to fit without some modification.
  21. That is actually a brand new '79 - '82 mirror or Gen 2. The mounting base is quite a bit larger than a Gen 1 and it is black not silver/grey.
  22. Claiming that sitting at traffic lights while in gear with the clutch pedal down is the cause of this issue is certainly opening a can of worms! More likely the owner was not engaging/disengaging the clutch fully while driving/changing gears.
  23. Yep Cheviot was a South Australian company that are now known as Performance Wheels (think Superlite). At least one set I have is stamped 'Performance Wheels'. In terms of cleaning them up mine were brought from a seller on eBay and were completely restored so are highly polished with new black paint in the 'spokes'. They look smick! The other set I have, while not restored, have the centres painted all black with only the lip being silver/polished and whitewall tyres. Both sets look great and IMHO are the best looking 13" aftermarket wheel. Light weight too.
