  1. Yea i have access to anything and more than nessesary to do this swap now so it is time. I need to know if i use the rear diff off of the ea-82 is that the best choice? and which axles for the front and rear? I have heard fwd Impreza axles will do the job for the rear but havnt heard much on the front how many splines are the axles on the stock 94 imp vs. the ea-82 5speed DR Trans? Will it be a possible task to throw a e or air locker on that 3.9? I was thinking of using my ac compressor for an air locker. I have access to all parts i need for the most part and i just need this last bit of info.

    Thanks

    Jordan

if there is anything else you feel i need to know feel free to shoot.

  2. I got a new job at a performance shop and i will be putting the 27" tires on now and the dual range swap into my 94 imp L sedan. Its going to be wicked. I have some picks of the muddy car now ill try to get them on here tommorow.

  3. Right now im moslty concerned with axles that will be sure to fit. I heard you need 23 spline axles for the front and im not sure what for the back maybe the ones i already got or the ea ones. Are they the same length as mine in the rear as in will they go onto everything right?

  4. I would have to say i would do it. But im also the guy who was deep in the woods and a cop walked down and busted up our party and first thing i did was jump in my subie and hauled myself up the hill on on a 20 minute journey out of the woods on the other side lol

  5. Thanks alot for your input josh i appricate it. All this was helpful. I need to find a DR tranny asap. I dont think putting the ej22 in my car is nessesary and i would enjoy opening my 1.8 up anyway so i might just do some internal work on it for more power. Sounds like this transmission is the way to go if your going to be encountering hills. Thanks Anyone else who has input on this throw it at me

  6. Oh ill do it. I think i might become a apprentice for a mechanic i know soon maybe ill just see what he has to say about it. He wouldn probably let me do it at his shop and it wouldnt be as near as ghetto as if i did it here at home. I live in a condo so i dont want the older folks around here trying to kick me in the balls for making noise. They already try to strangle me over my rx-7.

Thanks hopefully if i find a trany ill be getting one of those plates off you. good job btw on machining that.

  7. I am looking for a Dual Range Transmission. How much of a pain in the A$$ is this to put it up to a ej18? yes the ej 1.8. I was thinking about doing that considering its impossible to find a ej22 anywhere around here. I have a 94 imp sedan. I know im going to need that adapter plate but i forgot who makes it. Is this a thing that can be done at home? Any specialty tools im going to need or is there any redneck methods i can use to do this? Also what about a clutch i need Suggestions on a new clutch and pressure plate for this thing. I would like something that wont burn up easy. Something kinda heavy duty.

Thanks i would like to know everything i can on this subject

  8. Yes i just used the KYB Forester GR-2 struts and the OEM Coils from Genuinesubaruparts.com...

What you have heard about the 2.2 converstion is true. Thx to Austin for his knowlege on that. He told me all about it. That is true it actually is a much much easier swap than what i anticipated. I will be doing it soon as well. but as of today the rear left wheel bearing decided to say i hate you so now i have to get that fixed = \.. gonna cost me a little bit on that one

  9. It wont be all that bad as far as mounting goes and things its just getting the measurements right. the 13b is a small engine like only weighs around 200lbs i would say not including the bolt ons. you will have alot of engine bay space left after dropping that in there. You might want to do a mid mounted engine. That would be really cool and rotarys are known to be easier to do it with because of their size. your going to be using a 1.3 liter right? worst thing about a rotary is putting it back togather. Easy to take apart. i have a 84 Rx7 myself but its a 4BL 12A 1.3l . I love the car its pretty sweet for street driving. Handles like crazy

  10. When it does come time and after i have parts / ect to do the ej22 swap ill take pics as i go so i can make some sort of tutorial for others that might want to in the furture as well. I bet the wiring harness is going to suck. that always seems like the worst part. Hint to self dont play with rotaries.

  11. What about the ej22 motor what car is that most often found in. 2.5s are easy to come buy around here considering the mass popularity of the Subaru Outbacks around here lol its almost like mustangs now i see one every 2 minutes. But I need to find where im going to pick up this 2.2 liter. Mainly i need to know which car. is it like a 95 or 96 imp or something? i was offered a 2.5 with a blown head gasket for $200. but i think the ej22 would be easier considering it is a little smaller but still is going to give me enough power. :headbang:. yes lights, bumper. snorkel will all be very affordable and easy once i get my engine / tires. i dont might taking along time to get the other stuff but engine and tires are priority. Now i must go fix my mothers brakes on her chevy imp
