  1. I added an overflow bottle to my '83 wagon so long ago I can't remember when. Still works perfect today. More importantly, replace the caliper-even if with a used one. If you let it go much more, your car will become un-driveable=won't move. My 2 bucks
  2. DOH! :banghead: --- Sounds good to me, I'll know better as we get closer to then (marking date on calendar).
  3. Yes, thank you..I'll relay that suggestion to the dealer, where the car still sits. Matter of fact, maybe I'd better call to check on that car. We've been so busy that I think it's been forgotten.
  4. Rats, I'm out. Big BBQ/reunion this weekend over in Stockton. Actually, I think more rain and snow is expected this weekend.
  5. I got mine from RockAuto. Can't recall the "to my door" price, but it was competitive or less than the local Napa/Kragen/Autozones. 2 years ago: rear lift supports for my '83 wagon, 3 years ago: hood supports for my Acura Legend. Both sets are operating very well, and the brackets have not had the issues described above. Just my 2 bucks
  6. I haven't seen any posts about this yet, so I'll ask it. The company I work for has several new 2010 Outbacks, Legacys, and Imprezas in our fleet right now. I've noticed that many of them have a distinct gasoline smell to them..very noticeable. With the first one, I'd figured that there was some spillage during refueling. But in the last week or so, I've noticed the same smell in about a half dozen more of our new Subarus (2010 MY only). All these cars have less than 2000 miles on them, some less than 200 miles. I've left them to "air out" overnight with the windows down about an inch or two (it's been snowing here), and in the morning the odor is mostly diminished, but when driven again with the windows closed and the heat on, it starts to really reek again inside. We've got one of the Legs at the dealer right now, and they've not been able to locate the problem since leaving it with them on Thursday (Feb 18). I just find this very unusual, as we've had hundreds of Subarus, all models, just during the time I've worked there, without any sort of issues (unlike those awful GM's, and more recently Toyotas and Hondas). I guess what I'm asking is, have any 2010 owners here experienced this? TIA
  7. Nah, you'll be OK..at least you won't get razzed as bad as I did the night I showed up to a mini-meet in a new Taurus!
  8. Thanks Tex and WCSS staff..please know that what you do is not going unappreciated. See ya at the Show!
  9. Looking forward to meeting you at one of our occaisional "mini-meets".
  10. Norm's Auto Repair (Subaru Specialists) South Lake Tahoe 530-544-0953 Simply the best around here.
  11. +1. In my many years of owning and using tools, I can't recall ever using a chemical or solvent to clean any of them..even the occaisional "wrench dropped in the dirty oil". Just a quick wipe with a cloth rag has always been enough. I can't recall ever putting away a dirty tool. Just my 2 bucks
  12. That ^ sounds like a neat idea. Only concern (or question) I have is: wouldn't the gunk that's flushed from the heater core then get caught up in the main radiator, causing a bigger problem? I like the simplicity of JWS' method.. I'm just throwing my question out there for more comments/opinions
  13. Earlier this year, I got some Hankook Zovac HPW-401 in the 185-70-13. "Studdable Winter Tire". Pretty fair price from an online company I can't immediately recall. They've been working great in the deep snow (now 6" thick ice:rolleyes:) we've had all this week in Tahoe. I do agree that the 185 size is getting harder to find as time goes by, but not impossible. If I can remember the place I ordered them from, I'll post here. Just my 2 bucks
  14. Exactly the info I was looking for (I knew about the EA81 seals previously:)). Thanks GD.
  15. While on the subject, are the bearing part numbers the same for '83 EA81?
  16. The number of months / payments has a huge influence on the monthly payment amount... Just my 2 bucks
  17. Back in '69, our family had two of those, except they were called "Mercury Montego". My parents had a green one, with the 302-C.I.D. V8 engine, and my Grandfather's was white (with black vinyl roof) and had a 351 C.I.D. V8.. What a rocket that was!! Both had the Ford C-4 Automatic 3-speed transmission. We only had them a few years, then traded for newer bigger Mercurys. First car I ever drove was that green '69 (you always remember your first time:rolleyes:...). Thanks for bringing back some good memories, and GREAT JOB on keeping yours in such fine shape!
  18. I've got 329,000 miles on my '83 wagon. There are others on this board that have more than me!
  19. . Please keep us posted on your research and results.
  20. ^ ^ I remember that day, good times wheelin' in the snow!
  21. IIRC, there's a place that specializes in Subaru parts, old and new, in the Denver area called S-Wing's Stuff. I've purchased parts for my '83 from them, good guys to work with. 1196 Bannock St., Denver 303 777-8658 Hope this helps
  22. ...On hwy 50 near Cave Rock on (around) Oct.29. Blue '81 wagon, aluminum wheels, 3rd eye headlight. If you own this car, please chime in here..I (for one) would like to meet you and get a closer look at that wagon.
  23. Hey Pete, this reminded me of your problem. It looks like it may have been solved here: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=105228 Hope this helps.
