  1. As I advise all that I know that are involved in a wreck that wasn't their fault: Contact YOUR insurance company. If you work directly with the other guy's insurer, they have no obligation to please or be fair to you. You pay your insurer to get the full value for damage to you and your property, let them argue it out between them. This will not count as a claim, and will not affect your rates. My mom and sis were involved in a wreck exactly like yours, in 1969. To this day, they both still feel the effects of the whiplash. IIRC, my mom was in traction for months, but didn't start feeling hurt until a few weeks after the wreck, and still has a constant "uncomfortableness" in her back. Just thought I'd throw that out there, because the other guy's insurer will settle as quickly and for the least amount possible, you can bet on that. Just my 2 bucks
  2. I saw LOTS of cameras at the Show, there's GOT to be more pix!
  3. Way to go Jeremy! Nice rig..now ya gotta lose those Cali license plates:-p .
  4. Sheesh Ted, what an adventure. Even with all the "extras" along the way you had, it sounds like you'll be back for next year's show:) . Right after we talked, I went into work, a couple of very busy days. The next was 7a~7p:horse: . Wish I could've helped you more. Glad you found some XT6 parts, I was also doubtful about the on-hand supply. EA82 stuff is everywhere. During several runs for work, I saw your cars parked all over town, but just the wagons-not the XT. I figured you were using it to chase down parts and had to run over to South Tahoe or some such (IIRC it has AC:cool: ). The route you took was beautiful..not the shortest, but wasn't it worth it at least once? My carbed beast was also affected by the low elevation along the coast, but not as severely as Becky's. Guess our cars like the high elevations, eh? It certainly was worth driving that way, much cooler and scenic (read GREENER). After TSJ and crew and I parted in Red Bluff, I continued west on 36 and turned south on 89 at Lake Almanor. Very nice and green. Had to take 70 to drop some stuff off in Reno, and after a delightful chat with Jibs' mom, it was 395 etc. home. No breakdowns or issues, but I didn't have as much "fun" with my rig this year as you did, or as I have at past WCSSes.:-\
  5. OK. Got home to the Ponderosa Ranch about an hour ago. Didn't take the most direct route home, but it sure was a definite pleasure going that way, and doing the little "extras" too:) . Mileage when I left home Thursday morning: 319,632 Mileage now, parked in my garage: 321,214 Trip total=1582 Best tank MPG: 32.7:banana: (Klamath Falls to Salem, via Bend and Sisters) Well, another great WCSS. Many, many thanks to all that planned, organized, helped out and otherwise worked on making the Show happen and run. Again.  Thanks for picking a great venue, the marine layer was a welcome pleasure and departure from the heat that seemed to be everywhere else this weekend. It was great seeing and hanging out with my pals that I only get to see one weekend a year, and was a pleasure hanging and talking with folks I've just met this year, and those I see every year and still don't know their names:eek: (especially the Canadians:lol: ). That made the long hot journey through 3 states (and Portland,grrr...) worth it, as it does every year. (I'm the guy with the 300K '83 that keeps saying,"this car won't last another year"...every year:rolleyes: ) Ed, thanks for the caliper. Suberdave, PM me. I'll get those "parts" your wife was asking about to you. GD, I still owe you beer for the carb advice (thanks). Dalton, glad to have provided some "seat time" for ya..it was a big help getting back home after Red Bluff. Once again, a big THANK YOU to all that "worked" the show . See ya next year, for sure. /Dave
  6. On our way to WCSS, Thursday/14th Tank from Reno to Klamath: 32 MPG, a lifetime best for that car. In Bend now, we'll see how I did when we fill again in Salem later today. See ya at the Show!
  7. Here's what I've been using: http://www.weather.com/outlook/recreation/golf/weekend/USOR0017?from=36hr_topnav_golf Just my 2 bucks (Hey, the smilies are gone, I'll spell out:) Ahhh, just right (Drool)!
  8. (A little off topic:rolleyes: ) Ed, your PM box is full.
  9. Wow that sucks Brian. Hope it's something simple and you're back on the road cheap and soon (and can still make it to the show). -- Another great day with the local Subaru gang, glad to have met you Pete. I'm sure we'll have more days like that in the future, next time it might be more 4-wheeling and less wrenching needed. Pete, keep us posted on finding that noise. I've got a feeling it might be one of those spring clips may have become loose or dislodged, and is rubbing the edge of your disc. Jeremy, let us know if you're going to go ahead with the HG job, we'll help ya.
  10. ...And I expect that is per night. (for clarification purposes)
  11. H.A.Nights traffic shouldn't be all that bad this weekend, but next weekend will be absolute gridlock. Lots-o-cool cars tho .
  12. I can grab some Snapple or similar...Jeremy, do you want me to get some Diet Snapple too?
  13. Great! Has anybody heard from Dalton lately? Last I heard he needed a few things for his BRAT.
  14. Sounds like a good idea. I'd be glad to help with any wrenching, my rig is about as ready as can be for WCSS, so I'll be glad to help. It's been too long since we all have hung out together.
  15. All Right Jeremy!! Don't know if this'll fit into your plan, but here is mine(ours): Leave Carson or Reno ~5AM Thursday, overnight in or near Bend. Friday take the scenic (read COOLER) route OR rt.22 through Detroit Lake, to Salem, maybe meet up with TSJ and JB, continue to WCSS. No word on Dalton's plan. Glad to hear you'll be there:) .
  16. I've found the best sevice, level of competency, courtesy, and usually lowest price at independently owned shops. Many times the owner has at least some "hands on" with your job.. they'll do what you ask, not just some "by the book" procedure, if you ask for something out of the ordinary. My 2 bucks
  17. Slight change of subject, but still related to WCSS... Will there be food on site, besides the spaghetti awards dinner? The snack trailer with coffee and muffins/fruit/snacks was a Godsend, especially in the mornings:) . If not on site, how far away is town?
  18. About the same for me. You know my wagon:cool: .
  19. Try looking in the Sparks and Carson City PnP yards. Several EA81s there, many with low miles (in the 100,000's) Just my 2 bucks
  20. When I first got my license, 2 bucks dang near filled the tank on my '70 Volkswagen! It ain't like it was...
  21. Every car I've ever had since the EPA mileage estimates came out, I've always managed to beat without trying (except for my '79 Cougar bought new:mad: ). Most of my Acuras got/get as much as 50% better than the EPA number(sometimes 40+MPG); my then-new '74 Duster (POS) got 30 regularly; Celicas, Mustangs, an Accord..all slightly better at worst. Even my present winter-only beater '83 wagon with ski racks and brush guard with 320K on it regularly gets 26MPG+. Again, I'm not the most "sissy" driver, but not terribly aggressive either. I've just kept my cars running as good as possible (even that crap Duster:lol:). My 2 bucks
