Actually, the LATCH points are simply steel "loops" or D rings bolted to the floor. To find them, they're usually painted black and are found between the bottom of the seatback and the bottom cushion. Sort of next to where the seatbelts pictured above are anchored. Sorry no pix (I've got an earlier model) but I work with new cars every day, and that's where most of the LATCH anchors are...some are also on the floor of the "wayback" part of station wagons, just behind the back seat.

Jeremy..could you keep an eye out for a good blue passenger seat? No need to grab it, I can get it on Wednesday (if there even is one there). Of course, EA81 and 82 cargo covers are a good find, even if unwound (the one I got for you was unwound, but I fixed that:) ) PM me if you phone number has changed, I'll confirm and get a shopping list for BBQ supplies when I leave Carson City for Jibs' place, probably around 3. -

hard to shift and hard clutch pedal
NV Zeno replied to BlueRu's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Yes, it's normal. You've described the classic symptoms of a clutch cable that is worn. As described above, it's fraying inside the cover, and stretching at an abnormal rate because of it. Replace the clutch cable assy., and you'll notice the difference right away. I've had real good luck with Genuine Subaru parts for this job, most dealers can still get the correct one. Heck, they may even have one in stock . -
Short road trip question...
NV Zeno replied to misledxcracker's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Just leave yourself lots of extra travel time to allow for the slower speed, and the possibility of pulling over to "cool off" along the way. Not being in a rush seems to make cars run cooler. Leaving early in the morning to be ahead of the heat is a good idea. My 2 bucks -
Ah, the mudhole at WCSS 3..brings back good memories, including another lifted Toyota being rescued by the Soobs (I was JAFO on both occaisions). Re: the guy with the camera (circled, arrow)...IIRC, he was either taking pix of Chef Tim while his car was stalled in the mudhole for quite some time; or Ross In Idaho in his $950 totally stock '87 3-door doing quite amazingly well in the mudpit:clap: .

Forty?? For the last few minutes I've been trying to remember what I did to celebrate, but can't remember that far back:banghead: . Guess there must be memory banks in the hair that's gone away, LOL. Happy BD Mick. See ya at WCSS? -

My guess is a plug wire is faulty or has simply come loose. Another (although remote) possibility is a clogged fuel filter. My 2 bucks

Jeez Dalton, take it easy on that car..it could be totalled or dead before you get your license. Be patient:cool: . As to your question: do you feel the shaking only while the car is moving, or only while stopped?

I'm gonna add a big +1 to the "Plus Plan". It's certainly neccessary when driving the older cars as we do. The 5 mile limit before charging a fee is simply impractical in rural Northern Nevada, where there's sometimes 100 miles or more between towns (at least civilized ones:lol: ). My 2 bucks. And a big, "Way To Go Moosie" to Paul  . -
It's been a few years, but I found a throttle cable at a good price at my local dealer..around the same price as quoted above, IIRC. I'll check my "file-o-receipts" and report back here any findings.

I've got a bud that owns a small auto repair shop in Santa Rosa, and whenever he's needed parts for my '83 wagon, we've always found them at Smothers. A few times we were lucky to get some oddball parts from Prestige Imports (aka Hansel Subaru?) in Santa Rosa (closer to his shop). I have the stock 13" wheels on my rig, and run snow tires all year. There are getting to be fewer and fewer brands of snows available in the 185-70-13 size, but still have no trouble getting at least some kind of snow tires around here (Tahoe).
