Hmmm..thanks for the links, I'll have to call around tomorrow. Ed: haven't had much snow? Heck, it's now a few minutes before March 29, and it's snowing here. Hard:banana: . Thanks guys. /D.

OK, I'm growing a little weary of the one-ply snow tires I've been using over the years. I've discovered a tire on a '92 Ford Ecort (185/70/13, my size) that I really like. What little info I've found on them is that they're long lasting, very grippy on snow and ice, are stiffer in the sidewall, and appear to have the aggressive tread pattern I desire. I've been told that they're a little pricey, but that comment came from those who bought a much larger size, like 17"'s. I'm just looking to find out where to get them: preferably within Northern Nevada or Northern California. No luck with Tire Rack. I've also asked around at most of the tire dealers around the greater Ponderosa Ranch area (Reno/Tahoe)... "not in my computer", etc. They're the Nokian Hakkapeliita 10 (NOT the SUV model), studdable, but not studded. 185/70/13. Anyone know of a dealer that might have these? Thanks.

No worries. My rig is stock height, just has a good set of snows on it. Keeps up with the "big dogs" just fine:D . -
I usually don't deliberately look for damaged boots. In the course of checking /adding oil, or some other reason for having the hood open, I'll check the boots real quick, and for any sprayed grease. This is where it pays to keep the engine compartment clean. I check all the boots more closely while I'm under the car at oil change time. Really though, the smell is evidence enough that a boot has split..unmistakable. My 2 bucks

Yup, I've got one in my '83 GL wagon. I keep forgetting it's there:rolleyes:. -
I've been using "Winter Blades" for as long as I can remember, and as I recall, there seems to be some less icing than regular blades. You have a 2005 OB, right? Isn't there a pushbutton switch to the left of the steering column that activates the "wiper de-icer" at the bottom of the windshield? Works great for me. Just my 2 bucks

Thanks for the pic Ed. Great idea..I'll keep a look-out for one of those around here. It will certainly increase the comfort level in my wagon.

Are you getting hot air from the heater? If not, your thermostat is probably stuck open. Getting anything but a genuine Subaru thermostat is a waste of time, it happened to me a couple of years ago: I put in a non-Subaru thermo on Thanksgiving, and it was stuck open before Xmas (and it gets cold here in December:eek: ). Replaced it with a gen Subaru unit, and I've had excellent heat ever since:clap: .
