  1. Yep, my wagon does that too. Was a real gas in traffic on US 50, around Cave Rock about 20 min. ago (very snowy). I let some air out of the rears (snows all around), it seemed to help some. Strange, sometimes leaving it in FWD is actually better (I said sometimes:) ). Just my 2 bucks
  2. Seahag..yeah, I discovered the purple when I was looking at the "Gallery-o-Brats"..PM on the way:) . Jibs, some of your BRATs are pretty nice..just like kids, there are some that are bound to look a little different...
  3. That's one fine lookin' BRAT (coming from a guy doesn't get excited over BRATs). But what really sets my heart ablaze is the old blue FORD pickup in the background: DROOL:slobber: !
  4. LOL..no, that one's long gone (and I'm keeping the Acura for awhile), I didn't think you'd be interested because I know how much you love Hondas, but I can ask around. I have a neighbor in the next county that has a decent EA82 he might consider letting go to the right buyer.
  5. Yup, lots-o-fun on the moon, great pix guys. Was great to put a couple more faces to the names out there, hopefully you'll have your hatch going next time. C'mon, ya think I'd let the lifted/modified rigs have all the fun? "Shirt sleeve weather": Yeah, I'd prefer to be sliding around in the snow in November, but yesterday's 50-60 degrees sure beats 100 as was in August. Sorry you missed it Brian..sucks about your car..I could probably find you a nice cheap older Honda to get you by til you get another rig. Stick with the n/a EA-series stuff, much more reliable and too little power to get into too much trouble:rolleyes:
  6. Yeah, strange situation recently..it's actually been warmer overnights in Tahoe (if you can call 20 degrees warm:lol: ! ).
  7. Yeah BigBlue, c'mon up..we'd like to meet ya. Don't worry about being the only stocker there, I'm practially the king of stock. As long as you're not concerned about a few scratches, you'll be fine..not sure if there are any bushes around to "buff" my paint job anyway:lol: . Please feel free to PM one of us for our phone numbers, in case you cancel/are late/have broken down.
  8. C'mon, you know we'll get some pix of "someone's" stock wagon up there:brow: .
  9. Just a thought. Judging from the pic that Jibs posted from Moonrocks, I'm figuring on "airing down" my tires while we're there. It would be nice if we had one of those portable air compressors to restore tire pressure before hitting the road home. Any of you guys have one of those we can bring along? Meeting at Shell/Red Rock at 10 AM sounds good for me.
  10. Yeah, 10 works for me. Guess I'll meet you at Jeremy's? Gotta remember to get supplies at Scolari's on the way (that's the Lemmon exit, right?).
  11. Yeah! Yeah! I'm in..I'll just postpone my quickie weekend down in Vegas for a few days. Let's try and get together early..DST is over, and it's been getting dark (and cold) around 4:30 or so. Hey TSJ, mind if I scavenge a few parts off your wagon after we're done?
  12. My '83 does that, and has been doing that for years. In the wintertime, the tach rarely moves from zero until warmed up (sometimes longer), and in the summertime the tach works right from startup, but sticks at about 4000 sometimes. Hasn't affected performance, not really worth the effort to fix.
  13. I've been running SilverStars in my '83 wagon, lots-o-light there. That's before I flick on the high beams:brow: .
  14. Sooo...that means you're running a stock setup, eh?
  15. Hey Bob.. Wait til it starts snowing, then he'll REALLY be crazy about the car  . About that shop in Sparks. I've never had to have them adjust my carb or test for smog (I'm in a "no test" zone of Washoe County), but they are one of a few shops that even accepts the older models, and knows how they work. Like I said earlier, Ken and Fred are good guys and don't charge ridiculous prices for their work (just stay away from Michael Hohl) and know Subarus..they'll treat ya right (Norm's in South Tahoe is great too).
  16. I think "Independent Automotive (Subaru specialists)", on Bergin Way in Sparks does emissions testing. They're great guys, and can offer advice/suggestions to pass the test. The "air tube" you type of is plentiful and cheap at your local Pick N Pull in Sparks..perfect fit. I've tried those from Kragens and the others, none seemed to fit right. Just look around for EA81s at PnP. You'll find a good one, can see how it attaches and how it's routed.
  17. These guys ought to have one: http://www.s-wingsstuff.com/
  18. Hi Bob, The symptoms you describe are quite normal..you might want to take your car and spray the engine off at one of those coin operated carwashes (take the spare out). Mine has some seepage around the oil pump and valve covers, but not enough of a leak to drip to the ground. These little engines are gutless as heck (no pun intended Jeremy), but don't mind running at high RPM up long hills. I run up Spooner almost daily in 3rd gear all the way from the NDOT turnout at the bottom, 4500~5000 RPM. Just keep the oil full and clean, you'll be OK. BTW, welcome aboard . Here's my rig: http://usmb.net/gallery/Subiemans-WCSS-Photos/PICT0681_Medium
  19. Farewell to the '87..we met at WCSS 3 where I rode shotgun in her briefly on the trails and in the rallycross there, she was named the "antenna award" winner. Again a brief ride at WCSS 6. Mike, in honor of the '87 (besides a toast), I'll keep my rig alive to at least the same mileage, I'm at 295,000 now. Farewell, old friend:drunk: .
  20. Yup, I've been lucky and dealt with him, too. There was also a woman at that counter that wasn't afraid of looking up the old stuff, but I think she's gone. Stay away from Hohl Subaru in Carson, those guys are useless, and are a total ripoff if you're lucky enough to have them lift a finger and actually find something. (end hijack)
  21. Mine's been doing that (often, but not always) for a couple of years. I thought it was clutch drag, but after making wild experimental adjustments, nothing seemed to help. I just remember to take it out of 4th just before stopping, and I'm good. I figure at 295,000 miles, it ain't gonna be perfect:rolleyes: .
  22. Kragen Auto Parts - Santa Clara 2027 El Camino Real, Santa Clara, CA 95050
  23. I've had two separate keys for my wagon since replacing my ig switch a few years ago. I actually don't mind it at all, kinda brings me back to some of the cars I had in the 60's and 70's:rolleyes: . Why complicate things (at added cost)..you'll get used to it:) .
