Yeah, Sunday/Monday's sounding better all the time. Best to stay away from all the popular tourist areas..holiday weekend packs 'em in. As long as we go someplace cool and shady, I can't complain (Doyle, anyone?). My 2 bucks (Jeremy, that sweatshirt I borrowed for WCSS is safe and clean:) ) -
Bay Area/NorCal USMB Meet! (gauging interest)
NV Zeno replied to Zoombaru's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Might be cool enough to roll out my rig and go wheelin' with ya, most of the trails around Tahoe are wide open. Short season for me, better hit them before the snow closures:grin: . -
In addition to all the comments above, I'll have to add, "FANTASTIC". Great job! :headbang:

Maybe it'll be snowing by then (we can only hope:lol: ), I'll be able to roll out my non-A/C beast and join ya. -
Rear shudder under acceleration...

I'm with the "(Rear) CV Axle Gone Bad" crowd. Easy and cheap enough to replace. My 2 bucks -
Proportioning valve changes on rear disc swap?

LOL! Yeah, I realized I goofed that one when I was out at dinner...let's make that WCSS 8. Thanks Ed . -

I concur with Edrach, Qman and Jerry. The only thing I changed besides the actual brake hardware is the last portion of brake line. I managed to find the appropriate length with the correct ends then carefully bent the line for a perfect fit (I'll show ya at WCSS 7)..just remind me . Just like downtown. -
Yup, I agree with those shops being good. When I lived in P'ton, my Acura was serviced esclusively by Precision (wish he wasn't so far from the Ranch). Excellent shop..but I don't think they really work on anything else (never thought to take my Subaru there). About Autotron, my neighbor had a weird version of a Mazda pickup. He took it there, fixed him right up. I believe he takes his Toyota and his wife's Civic there too..he must like them, he keeps going back. If I need real expert help with my Subaru, either Independent Auto in Sparks or Norm's in South Tahoe are great!

Need six (6) new (street/mtn-road) tires
NV Zeno replied to Hank Roberts's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Yup, I agree with my neighbor here almost word for word, even down to the brands mentioned:lol: . I usually get my snows at Ken's Tire in South Shore, he has a great sale around Labor Day. I have run two different degrees of wear front to back (for varying reasons) for many years on my '83, and have had absolutely no problems caused by that "setup". I really miss the Power Kings, and especially miss the Firestone WinterFires..both types out of "print". Just my 2 bucks -
I've got a light day tomorrow (Wednesday). Don't know if I'll have time to go all the way to Silver Springs or even to PnP, but I could probably join you for lunch in Carson City or Dayton. Give me a call tomorrow (early is OK), I'll try and coordinate my business with meeting up with you.

Ford Courier (mfg by Mazda) had 14/6. Hope this helps

Are you announcing an upcoming Wrench Fest?

OK, who's bright idea was this ?

I gotta say, it looks stupid (dangerous), but it's pretty dang cool:grin: . -
Looked silver to me:) .

Well, almost made it back on my own....

Glad to hear you made it home safe. Was a pleasure travelling and hanging with ya at the show, hope to see you again. Just out of curiosity, where did you overnight Sunday night? We NV folk were guessing either Eugene or Klamath Falls, considering the time you left Shelton. -
Amen (and congrats:) ).

Well, another WCSS in the books. As usual, had a great time hanging with old and meeting new Subie friends (I'm not much of a high-profile kind of guy, but I was wearing the big cowboy hat most of the time). Many, many thanks to those that worked hard to make it work. Without them, none of this would not even be close to possible. It makes a 1500 mile trip in a 23 year old, non air-conditioned station wagon loaded with "stuff" a pleasure, all to be mostly an "attendee" or "participant". Thanks guys:clap:  .

Furthest Traveled to WCSS7 And Back?
NV Zeno replied to Jibs's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
My stats from the trip... Mileage when leaving The Ponderosa: 292,317 Mileage arriving home Monday: 293,800 Total 1483..includes perhaps 5 or 6 miles of offroading at the show, no other significant excursions from the routes of travel Temperature in Klamath Falls Monday at ~3PM: 103F..ugh. Temperature at the Ranch (elev. 6400') when arriving home at 10 PM: 74F (very unusually high)..ugh again:( . Gas mileage: ranged from about 24 to 30 MPG. Times I said, "Boy, those restrooms are nasty": lost count at 10,000 Number of times I had trouble with my 23 year old car on the trip (not counting body damage and losing/recovering various parts while offroading:lol: ): 0 -
Yup, I was behind you..quite a show, actually felt kind of proud of ya for taking such a nice car out with us, as I managed to lose/damage some parts of my rig along the same trail:lol: .

The Lake Tahoe Basin has more Subarus registered than any other make of vehicle. FWIW:grin: .

New ones are cheap enough at the dealer. Since you're leaving on a looong trip soon, do you really want to have the possibility of it breaking in the middle of nowhere? In the hot sun?
