  1. I discovered last week that my radiator fan is not kicking on when the engine heats up. We bypassed the rad sensor and wired the fan to run while the ignition was on (thanks TSJ), worked great. That's what leads me to believe the temp sensor is malfunctioning. Is there some way to test that sensor without removing it from the radiator? Any questions or requests for clarification are also welcome.
  2. I'm the owner of the blue 4-door luxury wagon:rolleyes: pictured, thanks for the comp. The pic caught the best angle possible, the other side(s) aren't so uh, good:lol: .
  3. That's one of the two major reasons I avoid 80. US 50 is a much more pleasant drive (once you make it through the gauntlet of tourists in South Tahoe:lol: ).
  4. Yeah, it's possibly a relay, I'll check my FSM. BTW, thanks for the field repair..prolly could have made it out, but not have had as good a time as we did. Did you go see that wagon?
  5. Yup, lots-o-fun up Jumbo Grade today. I think those Jeep/Toyota guys were actually a little impressed. Still trying to figure out why the fans didn't kick in..I've got this weird suspicion it might be the ECU is acting up, the carb's been really rich lately (in addition to the vacuum leak).
  6. Hmm..I just got the addy out of the latest phone book, but it's possible 7-11 has moved out since it was published. That's the place, tho..can't miss it, I believe there are gas pumps there, too. Might be wise to gas up in Reno ("The Big City" to us Villagers:lol: ) first, that was the only gas station in town.
  7. Brian, try clicking on the link I posted a few frames ago, or you can enter "3205 Eastlake Blvd., Washoe Valley, NV" (ripped right out of the Yellow Pages) into your mapping software.
  8. My thoughts are "the earlier the better", but I'm entirely flexible. TSJ, if you're coming over 80, maybe you can caravan with JB and Jeremy? If you go 50, you can hook up with me and we'll arrive from the south. You have my phone number. Big Blue, are ya in (at least so we can put a face to the name:grin: )?
  9. To get to New Washoe City, from 395 (From either direction,Reno or Carson) take the "Eastlake Rd." (Dr., Blvd., whatever) turnoff. follow it to the 7-Eleven..can't miss it, there's a feed store, a bar, an old gas station, and of course the 7-11..that's downtown:lol: . Edit, let's see if this link to a map works: http://mappoint.msn.com/(z3nixh45rok2mo3cvbcryeee)/map.aspx?L=USA&C=39.28142%2c-119.74196&A=7.16667&P=|39.28142%2c-119.74196|1|Jumbo+Grade+Way%2c+Washoe+Valley%2c+NV+89704|L1|
  10. Yeah, Doyle is a great place to go, wish we could get farther back than we did, up into the higher elevation forests. Jumbo sounds fine to me, tho.
  11. Well, if y'all want to wheel around Carson, we could meet somewhere in the middle of town, Cosco/Bestbuy would be kind of out of the way. I'm thinking the Sonic Drive-in on College Parkway (nxt to the CC Airport) would be a good central place to meet. Of course, if you're thinking Jumbo Grade, we could meet at the 7-Eleven on Eastlake in downtown New Washoe City. Just my 2 bucks
  12. OK. Spooner trails(and all of the trails at Tahoe) are buried in snow, some still being used for snowmobile tours. I've been thinking maybe Jumbo Grade might be kind of different, runs from New Washoe to Virginia City. Of course, there are plenty of trails north and east of Carson City, a few I wouldn't mind exploring. These are more desert in nature, but still hilly.
  13. Stay away..no, RUN away from ARI axles. Most of the NAPA stores around here sell that brand, pure junk. You'll recognize them by the bluish-green label on the box. I agree with Ed (above), the CVO axles have been great:) .
  14. Paul, I just saw a listing for that on Speed tonight at 9PM Pacific time. That means midnight your time?
  15. There are some cool Forest Service trails at the top of Spooner..I'll look more closely to see if they're open yet..lots-o-snow still piled up in Tahoe:grin: .
  16. We're talking about Sunday, right? If that's the case, PnP is closed that day. Wheelin' sounds good to me.
  17. Thanks for the reminder. Lookin' good for me..what time and where?
  18. Great stuff JB, I especially liked the powerslide in the snow parts;).
  19. Does that mean "Snow White" might be up for grabs? (Good hearing from you Richard)
  20. :slobber: Marking my calendar as I type. Gotta love the shaded camping!
  21. Could be your thermostat. I had similar symptoms right after I did a flush job, and installed a generic thermostat. Replaced it with a Genuine Subaru stat, voila.."Just like Downtown" . (Many thanks to South Shore Motors for staying open a few minutes extra on Xmas Eve for me)
  22. Mike, The "15 minutes or so" of driving you write of, is it city or highway?
