  1. Yup, big snow expected here soon. It's kinda funny watching the "Boy Racers" in the lowered Hondas/Corollas/Tempos make their way around in this stuff:lol:  .
  2. Yeah, we'll see what Monday brings. Right now the rain has stopped..just think of the ice rink the streets are gonna be tomorrow morning:o . Right now it's pushing 40 degrees, but as soon as the clouds clear away...brrr.
  3. Not quite sure if there's any substatial snow there, I believe the elevation is only 2500' or so. It's even been raining in Tahoe (6229 ft) today, so I'm sure it's raining everywhere. The rain may have washed away most of what's there, and what remains will now become "Sierra Cement", similar to the slop Jibs, Subieman, Subiewonkenobi and I were up against at Doyle..virtually impassable.
  4. The salesman will NEVER give you a straight answer, whether he knows or not..what for? He's got your money, done deal. It'd be best to call the SERVICE manager of the dealership (or better yet bring the car in), he'll have the records of what was done to prepare the car for sale. Unlike salesmen, the service guys are generally honest and will give you a straight answer: YES or NO. My 2 bucks
  5. IIRC, isn't the rotor the part that's actually splined? AFAIK, the bearings are sandwiched between the shaft and the hub, all smooth. Maybe changing just the rotor would do the trick. I've had the same symptoms for quite some time, changing the shafts and bearings didn't help.
  6. Russ, there's plenty-o-snow up here..we're still digging out! Another huge dump is expected tonight, windy too. Snowplow? I don't need no stinkin' snowplow:lol: Gotta love those empty parking lots (those donuts in the snow in the lot at Carson Mall? I don't know officer, darn teenagers I guess:brow: )!
  7. Jeremy, Just saw on the news that Cold Springs has over a foot already (we got 27" in Tahoe by 6:00). IIRC, your place has no covered parking..great for working the car! More snow tomorrow, and as an extra bonus, high winds are expected too.
  8. Try Newark (Fremont). When I used to live there, that one usually had lots-o-Subes. Worth a try, just down 880 a few miles.
  9. Yeah, I've had those similar symptoms..turned out to be not only the throttle shaft, but also (part I can't remember) on the carb also. Got a rebuilt carb from Roo-Builders http://www.ccrengines.com/roobuilders/uilt , voila:grin: .
  10. You might have to cross a bridge or two to get there, but these guys have a great reputation: http://www.askimsauto.com/Home.htm
  11. Brian: Rats..would have been nice to meet the new RX, and have company for the drive down there. Tim: I PM'd ya with some contact info. If this is do-able, call me:) .
  12. Actually Brian, I'll be near you in Yuba City on Sunday. Should make for an easy meet-up:) .
  13. Dang Brian, that's a nice car. I've never been hot for that body style, but that's IIRC, you're nicest car yet.
  14. I'll be happy to meet up with ya this Sunday (26th). I'll be visiting in Yuba (yeccch) City Friday and Saturday, don't have to be back to Tahoe until Monday morning. I know San Hoser really well (JLHS 19**), just say where & when:) .
  15. Is the T-stat Genuine Subaru? Same general thing happened to me a couple of years ago, new non-soob tstat and all. In a panic, I took it to my local Ford/Sube dealer. They replaced the t-stat with a new genuine Soob part, voila:) .
  16. It looks fine. We're not working with Shelby Mustangs or Hemi 'Cudas here..just an '80's import..hack away:) .
  17. If you're seeking pro help, Ken and Fred are the best in these parts:) . Cross your fingers it's something simple.
  18. What code is the computer "throwing"? I have a Cal-spec '83 wagon (and FSM), I can translate the code if your '84 is the same. Lithia Subaru in Reno is actually pretty good at getting the older parts..stay away from Michael Hohl though, major crooks. I've had good luck at South Shore Ford(Subaru) for my Cal-spec stuff:) . Does your part of Washoe County have emissions testing (mine doesn't)? You'll probably need to correct that prob before you can transfer title.
  19. I've snagged some 2-for-1 coupons, and can get some super deals at several of the local Tahoe resorts here..whenever you're ready:grin: .
  20. Yeah Brian, gotta love the Pick-n-Pulls here, lots-o-Soobs. Hard for me to get to, closed on Sundays. Good thing the ski resorts are all so close and open .
  21. Yeah, there's one parked occaisionally at the Wells Fargo Bank (or at the Pizza Barn next door) in Minden, Nevada. Metallic maroon in color, tan interior, DR 4 speed..very little, if any, rust.
  22. Well, it snowed here Thanksgiving weekend, and it's been so cold here that the snow really hasn't melted..it's just been frozen, slightly thawed then frozen again. Has the consistency of concrete. The wind has picked up in the last few minutes, must be the storm with lots-o-snow that's expected .
