  1. I'm considering 395 to Susanville, then 139 north to KFalls. It appears to be higher elevation, and more forested..a cooler ride. Actually IIRC, that neat-o map that Brian posted earlier shows K-Falls along the way..that's what I was kind of going by.
  2. Are you taking a different route? My maps show K-Falls directly in our path.
  3. Got your number. I can PM you with Mendo's and Jeremy's, if needed. After I finish with golf tomorrow, I'm free til Tuesday, WOOT!
  4. Brian, if you decide to change plan, I've been working on a "big meet-up" scheme with Mendo and the other NV guys.
  5. Mendo I've been considering overnighting Thursday night in Klamath or Bend...meeting up with you and the NV guys Friday, and arriving at WCSS together. Mendo, Jibs, Subieman (&co.), ya think this can work? We need to exchange cel #s (PM), communication is good:) .
  6. Lots-o-older stuff around Tahoe and Carson City. Take a day or two and have a look. Check the classifieds..there's usually a few in there:http://www.tahoedailytribune.com/apps/pbcs.dll/frontpage Also some of the used lots in South Shore and in Carson City out Hwy. 50 east have 'em. Good luck!
  7. TSJ, my tentative plan is to ugg the whole trip in one day (Friday) with Subieman and Jibs, maybe having a little time to scope the joint for a good campsite and get settled. I don't know how well those guys are equipped for camping (I'm certainly not, I'm normally a Hilton man), Your setup worked great last time..I'd like to contribute. I'll PM ya for more on that. Of course, actual days and times of travel may vary:rolleyes: .
  8. Well, the Waterfall fire could very easily have destroyed BOTH my houses. Came right to the back fence of my place in Carson City, and Incline Village was also "endangered" for awhile the next day (but was controlled before it got too close). Whew.
  9. About 5:30 PM, going south on Stewart St., just behind the State Capitol on Aug 11 (Wednesday). White EA 82 Wagon, had the hood off and a HUGE intercooler in or near the spare tire cavity. I saw chrome, either wheels or hubcaps, in my mirror (I turned left in front of you, the white Acura). I was too far away to see any more details, by the time I got back to Stewart, it had disappeared.
  10. I figure we'll tighten up and coordinate our plans in the next couple of weeks, I'm flexible on that. No problem here on a B&E departure. Also to consider: the return trip:rolleyes: .
  11. Well, since both my car and I are considered "kinda old", I'm figuring on maybe travelling to Bend (or Klamath, whatever) Thursday, sleep over in a hotel, then continue to WCSS and shoot for a Friday afternoon arrival. If you want to meet up Friday in Bend, I can hang til you get there. Of course, you're certainly welcome to caravan with me (or us) on Thursday, hopefully an easier drive, allowing for breakdowns and road construction.
  12. JB Sooo...that means y'all be camping out at the WCSS Friday night? I'm just attempting to figure out how I'm gonna work it...
  13. (I guess this would be a bump) Welll...how'd the meet/ 4wheelin' trip go? Pix?
  14. Don't be afraid of professionals. Wally's (I think he's still on Sahara) is one of the best indy shops around, specializes in Asian cars. Very reputable. Not the cheapest, but honest and fair.
  15. Always good to get another local on the board..I get down to South Shore a few times a week, how will I recognize your car? There used to be a decent BRAT parked at the pizza place at Ski Run and Hwy 50 all the time, but I haven't seen it in awhile. Black with Fun Tops if I remember. Have you seen it lately? Join us for WCSS!
  16. I just went for the complete package, don't have the patience to rebuild when a RTG is available for only a couple hundred bucks. Badda-bing...done.
  17. I've had a RooBuilders carb on my '83 for a couple of years now. I replaced the old one because of the throttle shaft problem mentioned above. Highly recommended rebuilders. Only problem is my fault: I've got two of the hoses hooked up wrong, hopefully someone at WCSS can identify which ones need to be switched so I can make the repair:-\ .
  18. RE: bleeding the master... My example is for EA 81, but the process is the same. There are two bleeders on the side of the master cylinder. I recommend removing the spare tire, mostly for access. Some hose that fits over the bleeder to direct the brake fluid to a catch container is also a good thing. Process is similar to bleeding at the calipers..fill the reservoir, replace the cap. Open one of the bleeders, depress pedal. Close bleeder before releasing the pedal, repeat. Do each bleeder separately. I usually repeat a couple or three times. Might want to bleed the calipers again, too. It's possible you have a small leak in a line somewhere..check them for wetness all the way to rule that out.
  19. I had the same thing happening last year, went round and round, bleeding again and again. Bled the master cylinder..voila! Rock solid.
  20. Fridays are generally bad for me, got a lot of "stuff" going on. There's lots of USFS trails around Tahoe..high elevation, low temps:) .
  21. I'm in. 1 man, 1 car. Shooting for Friday arrival.
  22. Just so I have the schedule straight, that's overnight FRIDAY in Bend (no Hilton, BTW), and one night, SATURDAY at WCSS, and departing Sunday? Seems that doesn't leave much time for the events.
