  1. I had that exact problem, but on the passenger side. I'm not going to get into how we dealt with all the cheap-rump roast axles I had to replace on that side, just suffice it to say that I ended up replacing the bearings on that side. They weren't grinding or anything like that, I was just sick of working so hard to R&R the axle over there. The new bearings made the present axle go on as easily as it should. I figured the bearings' ID was just a hair smaller than it should have been, causing the tightness problem.
  2. We'll be in touch..sounds like fun, but a loooong day. *edit*: You're off work on a Saturday??
  3. There's usually at least a couple of gen 1's in each of the two NV Pick-N-Pulls here. That car looks to be in better shape than my '83!
  4. OK, so it looks like we're meeting at the Chevron in (near) Kyburz, just west of town on 50. 11 AM. TSJ knows some of some good stuff around there. I'll check around Tahoe along the way for any other possibilities.
  5. I'll bounce a few ideas off Subieman, and post any results or changes.
  6. Brian, It might be better to go up US 50. We can meet in South Lake Tahoe (exactly still TBD), and hit the trails from there. I'll be coming from the east on 50. Can't speak for Jeremy, but that's probably the most logical route for him, too. Jeremy, let's get your 2 bucks on this. Hey, you know me..I have no problem meeting at 6AM, but I doubt we'll need that much time. I'll work on an exact location in South Shore by tonight. I'm figuring on a south-to-north run, that'll make it a quick buzz over to T's Rotisserie in Incline (you and I had lunch there, Brian). I've also got some printed maps of the trails.
  7. They're on the east (NV) side of the lake..much easier access from South Shore.
  8. Jeremy I was thinking about running a USFS trail that goes from the top of Spooner to Kingsbury Grade (sort of by the Heavenly/NV entrance) with Brian. Care to join?
  9. Another possibility: stuck (or missing) thermostat.
  10. TSJ: Are ya up for riding some trails above Tahoe? I've got a couple picked out that I'd like to try/see.
  11. Sheesh...even the carpets look clean and new! Veddy nice, BTW.
  12. C'mon Andrew, it's not that bad...I don't have one either, but my bud who's a major FORD fanatic keeps telling me to get one, and I resist:-\.
  13. Been very (50 MPH) windy here on the Ranch..we're expecting a 40 degree drop in high temp compared to Wednesday, maybe a little rain or light snow..finally.
  14. I can keep an eye out for the caps and lugnuts if I decide to buzz by the yard real quick, might stumble on another cargo cover.
  15. Jeez Brian, save a little time and $$ for the upcoming ski season:lol:  !
  16. Yeah, NGK all the way. Don't care too much for the Bosch.
  17. Yep, he was quite a character..heh, he acted like the tipping accident pictured above happened all the time (it was easy pulling him out, we wanted to go play some more). Terrible shame. He was a good guy.
  18. Tim, may I offer another alternative, not neccissarily a recommendation: Pick-N-Pull. Find a similar model with much lower mileage than yours, voila. Also might want to try S-Wing's Stuff. Subaru specialists, used parts. I believe this is their URL: http://www.s-wingsstuff.com.
  19. Hey Brian-I found that extra radiator fan we were discussing awhile back..you still interested? (amazing what turns up when cleaning out a garage, LOL)
  20. I read a little tidbit about just that, in Car and Driver. What I'm afraid of is seeing Subaru named in the "GM Family of Cars"..Barf-O-Rama!!
  21. The Carson yard is closed on Sundays, Brian and I found out the hard way, LOL.
