  1. I would say that your luck with those tires is nothing short of suck-tacular :-\ Ive ran all types of Coopers for years, and they have always been top-notch for me. Better luck in the future!
  2. Thats funny, I usually cant wait to get my brat OFF-road (sorry, I had to)
  3. Just to warn you, I will ping and whine on ANYTHING except hi-test Starbucks fuel... read my owner's manual.
  4. With the lack of snow this past weekend, we decided to start a spring project a little early. Nothing warms the hearts of USMB board members, like rednecks stripping out a brat for a fresh EJ swap... so here are some pics of last Saturday. More to come as the fun progresses. ENGINE OUT 4 SPEED OUT ...more to come
  5. I LOVED my Baja! They do have their pros and cons though. PROS: -its a SUBARU -AWD -open truck bed for carrying stuff (bikes, hay bales, etc) -snappy 5 speed (cant say about an automatic) ? -can easily tow a trailer/small camper CONS: -no interior space to store items you want to keep dry or locked (except where passengers would sit) Basically, if you used your camry wagon's rear cargo space very much for hauling things you need to keep dry or locked up, and/or usually carry passengers, you may have trouble with the space avail in the Baja. (this was my only gripe) The engine should be fine as long as you do the maintenance on it. Timing belt every 100,000 and coolant flushes every 30,000 The price is about par. I think I sold mine with 85,000 mi for about 13K PICS? EDIT: If the idea of a Baja with a cap appeals to you, I would advise you to get an outback/legacy wagon. (I love mine)
  6. Hi and welcome to the USMB! As for the BAJA, the only problem was they didnt sell so great due to the small niche market they catered to. I had a 2003 baja myself, and had to get rid of it when I changed jobs. They are basically a longer legacy outback with a bed. Do you have a specific one you are looking at?
  7. Welcome aboard, may your stay be long and eventful. You wont find a more helpful subaru community than the one on here. I like your wagon. Do some searching around, theres a lot that can be done to those if you want.
  8. Ok... I see. Much clearer. Ive seen a few of the GMC trucks that have that 4 wheel steering stuff, and I thought "Oh no, not Subaru too!"
  9. I have always been a "dedicated winter tire" person, and as such, here is my .02 This past fall I put these babys on, and my subie is a snowmobile! HANKOOK WINTER IPIKE They are inexpensive (Id quote you, but I dont know your tire size) ...and QUIET. Plus, I love the directional tire look. Ive had 'em in deep snow, mud, and plenty of dirt roads. Heck, they are even decent on ICE. (and I didnt get mine studded) I have considered the SP60s in the past though, as they looked like a good tire for the $$ ...but definitely more of a spring-summer-fall tire for me.
  10. Ok folks, I was doing a little google surfing (for subarus of course) ...and I ran across THIS >> http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qa3764/is_199901/ai_n8832686 Normal comparison article, but I was puzzled at the next-to-last paragraph on page 1. "The Outback includes extra-long wheel travel to help keep the wheels in contact with the ground even over very bumpy roads, and the rear wheels turn slightly with the car to help in cornering." OK.... are they for real? Why havent I heard of this before?! (or do I just need to get out more?)
  11. Thats such a shame. I cant remember the last time I saw an ea81 rocker that clean. I will definitely need a body shop... but as far as a rocker panel goes, a google search only turned up panels for wagons http://www.rustrepair.com/REPAIR_PANELS/onlinecat.htm?r=fr&p=SM-SUBARU-SEDAN.80-3628542R
  12. To my knowledge, GCK is the only NEW aftermarket subaru axle manufacturer. Im curious now to see if maybe GCK is selling to napa? If you buy one, look for GCK laser etched on the cup.
  13. Buck is doing good. I have to warm him up good before he takes off, but Shawn sent his "new" fuel pump out to me last saturday, so soon he'll be 200% Ill tell him you asked for him
  14. Connie..... That ROCKS!!! Nice find. (hey, now you have something to show at WCSS10!)
  15. If spraying the connectors cleared up the problem (albeit temporarily) then that may indeed be the source of your trouble. Are the connectors badly corroded? I would recommend some heat-seal crimp connectors, or strip and solder.
  16. I dont know whether to or Nice wagon though... free bump!
  17. Pull all the lights. (exterior) Ive seen the tail lights fetch some nice prices on evil-bay... and come in handy when you crack one of yours
  18. I did that with my 75 chevelle in high school (and I DID take it twice a day) I still ended up with rust holes the size of softballs Understand this... most of the comments are no doubt from your "average Joe" type person that thinks you dont need good tires if you have 4wd. They just dont understand. If I had a nickel for every time somebody said I was stupid to NOT run my lifted brat in the winter, Id be a rich man. Then in the next sentence they invariably comment on how they dont see brats anymore Bottom line: Most people will never get it... be glad you know better, and save your subie!
  19. I have several I could send you (out of wagons and brats)
  20. That is the MOST beautiful brat tailgate I have ever seen! Who did the work?
  21. I like these http://www.pylonhq.com/wiper_blades.php Pricy at 15.00 each, but NICE! (and a 10.00 rebate when you buy 2!)
