  1. Nah..... roll with it. Me? My work day is as follows: come to work...wait on customer....surf forums...answer call....forums.....lunch.....forums.....'nother customer....forums.....HOME!
  2. That, or remove the two strut-to-knuckle 14mm bolts to swing the top out. Either way Ive ever done it, that wheels gotta come off.
  3. Even with newer, later model AWD .....you can still be SOL on wet grass. I got my new baja stuck on wet grass (with SLIGHT incline) the first week after I got it. I felt pretty stupid as I was getting pulled off with the tractor. Good tires are your best friend.... but I somehow always had better luck slow approaches myself.
  4. Stay strong Connie! You can come visit anytime you want. (he MAY make an appearance at spring Carlisle) Ill send ya a few more pics tomorrow.
  5. I drilled front and rear hubs when I lifted my brat.... here are pics All pretty and painted. These were done with a titanium bit, a hand drill....and lots of patience. I hate to disagree with NAPA parts (cause I usually love 'em) but I ordered studs from them, and found they would not bite into the drilled holes well enough for me. I had several 4-lug hubs laying around, and found the real subaru studs that are pressed into them are sturdy enough to withstand being hammered out, and then re-inserted again. The "real" ones were much nicer to work with for me. The only thing I will do when I do it again, is use a drill press for "square-er" holes My .02 cents
  6. I had something quite like this happen to a van I used to drive. After the accident, the door always sat funny, and leaked air/dust. Either the door is bent, and needs to be put straight (more like replaced).... or your hinges are deformed (and need to be changed out) My van turned out to be the hinges. Doors can be adjusted up-down and forward-backward, but not in-out from the body on anything Ive ever seen. The striker and doorlatch are set by where the mounting-holes are placed for a tight fit.... so if you're moving the door "in" with the doorlatch already fully engaged, Id say your door is definitely bent. Any local junkyards by you? (sometimes you can even find a color-match!) Good luck, and keep us posted
  7. Its not a bad idea really..... my only problem is finding gloves that I dont rip to shreds in the first minute.
  8. I wouldn't say just playing.... she did the (harder) driver's side axle. You keep what you kill:grin:
  9. We got him home ..... and started right in. AXLE PARTY! The end result Dont worry Connie...... He's in good hands! We got BOTH front axles changed. ....also thinking strongly about putting some REAR axles in as well (pics updated daily!)
  10. Well, we made it! A few minor turn arounds (and MAN that dodge is thirsty!) ....but we're here! Made ONE quick stop at McDs for a coffee (and to show off some shiny subiness in the parkinglot) THANK YOU CONNIE!!!!    .....anybody got any GRITS? (I am currently out of stock.)
  11. 14 inch rims will be 5 lug for the Legacy's ....sorry Incidentally, Ive never had a bit of trouble with 13" tires in the winter (except for the REALLY deep snow) ...and the 13s are so much CHEAPER! Check these out (48 bucks each -cant beat it!) http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Compare1.jsp?width=175%2F&ratio=70&diameter=13&startIndex=0&search=true&pagelen=20&pagenum=1&pagemark=1&x=80&y=3&performance=W&RunFlat=All
  12. Hotness... sheer hotness! It looks really classy in flat black.
  13. Miles on your car? Rust? General shape? Youll meet a lot of people on here that will tell you the ea82 engines are not worth fixing (I can hear them coming now) ....but if you dont romp on 'em too much, Ive found them to be pretty reliable, and worth putting a few new parts into. 600 isnt a bad rate for a "shop" timing belt and water pump change. If you did it yourself, youd save TONS. Also you have to decide how much longer youre going to keep the car (and if its worth it) I just sunk 700 into my Legacy for the same job, and last week the tranny died Pics?
  14. If you had a bad connection, (loose, etc.) you may be hearing a small spark jump, which you'll want to take care of right away. I would personally suspect its a relay somewhere that is clicking, and you just never heard it before. I'd find out EXACTLY where the sound is coming from... and go from there. keep us posted.
  15. Glad you got the bugs out. Now, I hate to say this but....... 1974? I gotta see it!!! (please and thank you)
  16. Nice pics, looks like yall had a good time! (secretly jealous that you have snow already)
  17. Any manual trans from a 4WD gl or dl will fit.... and will be a 4 spd the 2wd trannys for the same cars were 5 spd. Any "loyale" m/t should be a 5 spd, and will fit, BUT youll have to swap the DOJ cups on the front axles to make everything work.
  18. A guy I used to know had a mazda RX7 (rotary) that had a buzzer when you hit 6 grand on the tach to tell you to shift. Id never heard of one that went off for 55mph though!
