I just got mine last night! The CV is built with such close tolerances that you can bend it and it will STAY until you push it back. At 49 bucks a pop AND free shipping .....thats cheaper than NAPA "Snap-Off" brand (AND no core) Definitely a GREAT buy.... you just dont appreciate until youve held one!

I was only gonna buy one for my brat, but I figured for half price, I might as well get two.... and never have to change them again (for a long time)

Daewoo had to top that list for sure

Wow! Thanks for posting this. I have been waiting for just such a deal. Ordered 2 for my brat, and one for the Legacy. FREE SHIPPING! 150 bucks = out the door!

Caption this: ( Toyota haters dont open)
backwoodsboy replied to Scott in Bellingham's topic in Off Road
(Toyota haters dont open) ...... that worked about as well as "ignore this, accidental double post" Nice Toy though. Get a pic of it romping down two Kia's, and it'll be my new wallpaper! -
The pump should sit just in front of the driver's rear wheel (tucked up in front of the fuel tank)

87 Brat Floor Pans/Wheel Wells
backwoodsboy replied to suwbarrux's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I recall hearing that SOA recalled all their NOS body panels, and melted them back down:mad: ....or maybe that was just more stealership BS. -

I think they could be modified to fit, but the top pinch weld wouldnt be quite right, as wagons have the short doors and brats have longer ones. -
Ill second this. Its all in picking your line, and (most) of the time, there are ways AROUND the obstacle in front of you. I took a non-lifted brat with 13" tires places it should NEVER have gone. (but I did) I still take the same (but lifted) vehicle on the same trails. The difference? *MUCH less worry about getting stuck! I say larger (and more agressive) tires and some outback springs will do the trick. Hey, if youre hanging with a bunch of fullsize trucks, they should respect that youre wheeling with a wagon (takes guts) and they can always pull you out if you get stuck. Whats to lose?

I think a lot of old gen subie owners are on the DIY (do it yourself) program. Get yourself some mild sheet steel and some snips or an angle grinder and go to town. (you'll need to weld'em in either way- purchased or home made) If there are any good shops in your area, might wanna have them give you a price quote (couldnt hurt!) -
Thinking about buying a 94 4wd Loyale wagon
backwoodsboy replied to Infinitrium's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Easiest way to tell if its working is to spin your wheels on any slippery surface (mud) .....the 4WD light on the dash only tells you that its SUPPOSED to be in 4WD -
I used a PK (OZIFIED) 4/3 lift for my '86 brat, and it went on smooth. The 4/3 was nice for me, as it took some of the front/rear rake out of the brat. With any of these lift kits, you will need longer shocks, and an extended steering shaft. I have pics of my lift install that might help you out.... PM me if youd like em.

Joining old gen but which way should I go?
backwoodsboy replied to stumpy's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
May the die-hard old gen folks correct me if Im wrong, but I think the DUAL round headlights were '78. The single round were '79 Post some pics, cause that thing will be a rip with an EJ (if you can make it fit!) -
sounds like a winner! (post more pics)

I drive my lifted '86 brat some 500 miles per week, as it IS my DD right now. I have my Legacy wagon for the winter though (so the brat wont rust away on me) I agree with 75subie that the ea81 cars are SUPER reliable...... but the brat IS limiting as far as passenger-capacity goes (at least in inclement weather)

You must be kidding me...
backwoodsboy replied to misledxcracker's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Theoretically.... everything is collectable ....but that DOESNT mean its worth its weight in gold. -
YES. Its hard to find a brat in one piece here for 500 bucks. Even if you should buy it and find something that is too big to fix (unlikely) you could re-sell or even part it out and get your $$ back.

so my exhaust rusted out....LOUD

Steve, glad to hear your golden subie is back to rights! Did you keep the cat(s)? I know they fetch some pretty righteous $$$ at the JY, and Ive even seen people sell em on evil-bay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/USED-SCRAP-CATALYTIC-CONVERTERS-CAT-CONVERTER-FULL_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33629QQihZ020QQitemZ300145728696QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW
