  1. +1 The only subaru that was in-line was the justy engine. And it was only 3 cylinders
  2. I hate to admit it... but I think Qman is right. The cast #s are correct. I dont have an EA63 at the house, but I do have some EA71s. All the EA71s say E71 in the cast #s at the bottom of the head. Its an EA63 head.
  3. I was sure EA71 exhaust was out the bottom of the head and EA63 was out the front... but Ill yield my opinion to yours.
  4. Wow... looks to be an EA71 head you have there. Those are all water cooled blocks/heads made by FHI Late 70s to early 80s more diehard gen 1 folks will chime in here soon. Nice pics
  5. In my experience, banging/rattling is a bad CV Front diffs tend to whine and groan more than bang
  6. Im curious... Post back on here with your findings about the rockers you get from Mill Supply. I almost ordered the same ones a couple years back. The pic on the webpage is EA81... but the years (85-94) say EA82. Also, do you have any pics of where the rear torsion bar mounts to the rear subframe? Ive had a few suprises in that area.
  7. .... you mean when you get them developed? Post em up! Im sorry that it wasnt such a good year for the sube-crowd, but we knew it wasnt gonna be stellar. Im NOT so sorry to hear there was low turnout for the popped-collar-polo shirt wearing / beer-bong-of-death chugging get-away-with-anything crowd.
  8. This is sube-related... it counts as work for me.
  9. Ill check out the FWD tranny and order the necessary parts with my dealer discount... MUAHAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Sorry, had to.
  10. mmmm... tranny swap Lets use the grinder anyway!
  11. Its the one out of Steves old sedan... which will never be FWD again
  12. I got ya. On the way. ... You still want that FWD 5 spd?
  13. Steves just bummin 'cause I have his only "cool subaru"
  14. ... and suddenly I love this thread! Banannas and cookies. Bring it!
  15. (reads thread.....) YESSSSSSSS!!!!!:banana: Now this is good news! Glad to hear you got yourself a bumper finally, and that youre gettin the blue wonder back on the road. I love that little car. Also glad that youre keepin LB on a no-salt diet. :-p ...the more I sort through Steves old sedan the more I realize just how much I hate road salt. zzz
  16. Im saving this quote. BTW- DarlingChip and I are halfway done building another EA81. Where IS Jess? She should post on this thread!
  17. I cant do the FIRST weekend in August (redneck vacation) but the others I could swing. Steve: I have a pin puller I could UPS to you. As far as the sedan goes... The build thread cometh. The H/P EA81 is basically done. Cam/decked/port and polished with Weber. Trans and bits are ready to go in. Scored the next-to-last XT6 flywheel and P/P that FHI had. Brat driveshaft and complete rear end are ready (minus an LSD rear if anyone has one) New radiator, grille, fender, valance, and the LAST NOS front chrome bumper in the country! ...I think August will do just fine. Good call Matt!
  18. Hmmm... Somebody chime in if I missed a date. I see: May = OUT June = OUT July = mostly out August = Too damn far in the future, but I might have Steves old sedan done by then. Matt : can we do a poll or something to consolidate this all?
