  1. Propane....or MAPP gas. MAPP heats faster (and hotter) I would'nt get HALF of what I set out to fix accomplished.....were it not for that torch!
  2. Thanks, I like it too. The lightbar is actually the front roof rack that I stole off my '83 "parts wagon" It fit the brat roof nicely, and was ZERO DOLLARS!
  3. OK.... lift kit and tires, DONE. Now Im faced with a new problem that Id think is fairly common With the headers sitting lower than the skid plate, I dont dare go into any "extreme" off road situations. Can I cut/weld my pipes back at more of an angle to tuck them behind my skid plate? ....or is it necessary to keep that first few inches straight? Thanks everyone!
  4. *** FREE BUMP ***  Exactly two weeks to Carlisle! Bring yourself, bring your sube ......just show up!
  5. JK Actually, Ive showered many times at Carlisle. They have pretty decent facilities (for a fairgrounds) *BUMP* for the Waffle House!
  6. Almost 270,000 miles on my '93 wagon (original tranny) It has torque bind (I have since removed my driveshaft for the summer to eliminate this problem) .....and as far as shifting goes, the 1-2 shift is hard, and the 2-3 shift is delayed sometimes. I am *waiting* for it to die, but these friggin cars have the strongest will to live Ive ever seen. my 2 cents -Backwoodsboy
  7. That is looking GOOD! This is also the PERFECT time of year to paint (IMHO) I always end up painting in the summer, and just when everything is nicely sprayed and turning glossy.....a friggin BUG will land in the middle of it and flop all over! This time of year is nice. WARM + NO BUGS! Rocky is lookin purty
  8. That is VERY pretty! I would personally be MORE proud that it IS a subaru....and have the appropriate badging.....but the front is kinda BMW-ish, so its a neat concept. All in all, GOOD JOB!
  9. Well everyone.... At last the time has come to start this thread:banana: With many, MANY thanks to darlingchip for a months worth of weekends and free time.... Ill let the pictures speak for themselves BEFORE: THE STOCK BRAT AFTER: -PKDavis 4/3 lift kit -6 lug conversion -Nissan chrome steel wheels -29 inch Dunlop Mud Terrain tires -WEBERIZED -twin stick D/R mod -high-flow cat:brow: SEE Y'ALL AT CARLISLE! :headbang:
  10. That is lookin good (and looks like lots of work) I KNOW how long it takes to do all that prep work. That is why I dont paint my cars:lol: Much good luck in getting rocky done.....we all want to see him at Carlsile:headbang:
  11. Connie, I'll be trailering the brat down and back from Carlisle (although its purely a luxury, as it would make it on its own just fine) ...... If you need to, you can hitch a ride our trailer. (Im not all that far from you guys)
  12. *cough* ....back on topic though, that is looking NICE!! Do you think when youre all done with Rocky you can stop by and smooth out some "charachter" from my brat? When Im a little stressed...I work on my sube. When Im really stressed, I dont dare (more harm than good):-\ I really do hope that ya make it to Carlisle:headbang:
  13. *sigh* Yes..... that it todays pic. You can almost make out the fuel-puddle under the right rear wheel. So much for "JB weld vs RUST" Although, 263,000 on orig engine & trans is pretty good If I bring it though, that means Ive gotta clean out all the junk:rolleyes:
  14. I dont know Paul.... The brat is comin down this year, but I dont think O'l TrustyRusty here is quite car-show material if you know what I mean. (maybe without the bungee cords?)
  15. Headlights are usually not that bad on any subaru. .....it may even be covered in your glove box manual. WELCOME to a new northeast subie-board member!
  16. I know Im a little far from the city.....but a lot of shops I know have no problem with you using their lifts for free IF youre an employee. If youre not packed full on TIME...you could work part time (evenings or something) changing oil and tires....and have some lift-time to boot! (plus a nifty little bonus paycheck) Just an idea
  17. I would say YAY! Ive been dying to do this to my legacy wagon.....but g/f says no. THINK EACH STEP THROUGH.....and if youre still comfortable with the whole process..... Go for it! If you do it..... POST PICS!
