  1. if you read on they also have parts for the ea82 so i think its just a matter of calling and asking...did you check out there long blocks, talk about pricey (6400us for 130hp, no wonder people do ej swaps)
  2. while i'm thinking of it make sure you check you settings every now and then, while i stand by my hitachi...a word to the weary from the wise; for whatever reason these carbs don't seem to maintain there settings, just one of there downsides.
  3. not sure what your asking, are you looking for the low idle mixture screw or the idle rpm screw? the low idle mixture screw is right can be seen between the air filter assembly and the power steering reservoir, pretty much dead center near base of carb. the idle rpm screw is just to the left of it likely covered up by some hoses so make sure you have a longer screw driver for that one. may sound dumb but make sure the engine is warm before adjusting anything other wise it wont be accurate. if you don't know how to adjust the low idle mixture i'm more then happy to tell you how to do that...aw hell its not hard; first make sure engine is warm, second turn the idle mixture screw until the engine starts running ruff and then back it off until it runs smooth (as much as these engines can, mine always runs a little ruff) and then walk away. if you manage to turn you mixture screw all the way and the engine doesnt run really ruff or stall all together...replace or rebuild the carb something else i found is that when i adjusted the high idle the low idle also rose proportionately.
  4. i'm not sure about these turbo's on subies but a couple things to keep in mind is that mitsubishi turbos spin in the opposite direction as other turbo's, not sure if that will be an issue but i thought i would bring that up. next up the 14b turbo is supposed to be safe up at 14psi and i've heard of guys running higher but eventually the turbo will give out, by the way while i'm thinking of it you may get some extra leg due to the turbo being geared for a larger engine.
  5. i'm at a loss then, sorry...(i don't like excessive air intake routing anyway)
  6. i visit here at least twice a day, this is cheaper then paying for an apartment
  7. is it carbed or fuel injected? that will affect the type of direction that you want to go for a "little more power". if its carbed a decent weber can be had but some modifications are needed to install it (which is why i haven't actually done it). if you have fuel injection, i'm jealous if you do, a simple pod filter is a good start. and a fart can usually works regardless of which engine you have. after that you have an engine swap to a turbo or if your really feeling on the adventurous you can do an engine swap to an ej series, a simple adaptor and some wire harness work and you'll be back on the road in no time. the ej22t is something that i would look at but the ej20 is the most likely to fit into a reasonable budget (if budget isn't that big a faze 2 ej25 would be awesome but i don't see that happening anytime soon)
  8. this should be in new generation, you'll likely get more help there
  9. your thinking about it the wrong way. behind the headlight has fresh air but no more then the fender, when are comes through the front of the car some goes through the rad and some goes around. some of that are in an attempt to get out of the car goes into the void between the substructure and the fender. not the freshest air but still colder then air inside the engine bay itself
  10. thanks for the reply but with 35-40mpg i think i'll keep it a little longer
  11. i'm not quite sure whats going on with my car, it happens from time to time...i autox my car and from time to time while under full throttle my car will accelerate poorly (as if the secondary wasn't opening). at other times my car will run like a bat outta hell. i don't get it, i would be happy either way as long as it was consistent. any help would be appreciated. ps i tried doing a search but without knowing the problem...
  12. if i can help it, i wont switch to the weber. i have hopes of actually registering my car as a collector but i cant do that with the weber on it. but with the hitachi, i've got a good shot. (the ease of passing emissions is nice too)
  13. this artical mentions the hitachi equipped on nissans pre 73 (if i read it right) what model carb do we have considering our cars were made a decade later would we not already have a better carb then the one mentioned. (if i misunderstood let me know, i'm still learning bout all this)
  14. wow guys, thanks for revisiting my thread. since i started this thread i've also taken my car autoxing. because i expect a loss of traction i use 4low and frequent short bursts just shy of 8000rpm...i'm not even burning extra oil. glad to see a new member enjoying these old boxers, it takes a little getting used to the lower center of gravity and the overall dynamics but my car will likely continue to race the car for the rest of the year
  15. putting that many louvers in the hood must have taken a couple of days at least...i'm glad that someone out there is still rallying these cars (i've never seen a gaged one before)

  17. i agree with you there scrap, i actually auto cross my car. i would like to have the second lever just so i don't bog so much when i'm out the course, i think i'm the only one that actually has to use first gear to go round corners. one question though, where would the second stick go?
  18. so i bought the book...looks like sook is probably going to be my best bet but i did find something odd on one of the maps (map11/d7.5) one of the roads is actually marked 4wd, i've never seen this before. i used to live on the hat and if its the road i'm thinking of its a logging access road that actually leads to the up-island power wires amongst other things, but its always gated if you could give me a couple of easy access spots that would be great...i think i might bug my buddy with his umm...interesting 400hp ford
  19. thanks for the responce...ya i know raods that are easy for a stock vehicle get closed first. i'm a farly compatent driver (as far as amitures go) so i think i could probably handle a moderate trail, my bigest problem is that any obsticle bigger then a parking stall devider and i risk getting high sentered. i've never heard of a backroads mapbook, where can i find that?
  20. i have a stock gl sedan with a d/r (still don't actually know what that means???) i live in victoria, bc, canada and i was wondering if there is some near by beginners trails or decently secluded unpaved roads. most of the logging roads that i know of are pretty much locked and more recently paroled (alifent lake). any help would be grate, the closer the better...as i work seven days a week thanks
