  1. i would by a US spec 91-93 legacy turbo and convert my 87 gl sedan. engine, transmission, drive-line, suspension. it would all go in the car. first off the control arms on the legacy are longer so i'd be looking at a wide-body setup, next i'd finally get some wheels from the aftermarket so those 5x100's are looking pretty sweet on my car. 192lbs torque (little extra boost of course) on a sub 2500lbs car...well you get where i'm going with this rally would never be the same
  2. i was hoping to leave this one carbed, its one of the few things my dad and i can still do together (i'm 22 now and its getting a bit harder), but thanks everyone for your responses
  3. last local event (vancouver island) of the season. i hope to see at least one other older soob there
  4. i'm good at finding overcomplicated solutions to simple problems...hears my goal i'm looking for peak power between 2500 and 6500 and i figured this would be the best way to do it. i'm also looking for improved throttle response but what i'm looking for i think would be beyond a single Weber
  5. has anybody ever mounted carbs directly to the heads. i'm starting to do rough work on what it will take but i would like to know if someone has done it yet
  6. the two day even requires a pre-registration, the link above will give you the necessary information

  8. the guy putting up the canadian flag with the 2.5 rs, his name is sean and he is a friend of mine. he's a very competitive driver here at local events. see if you can talk to his friend steve, he has a turbo legacy which he did an at/mt conversion amongst other things
  9. from personal experience.... the car tends to roll (body roll) not slide, i found that you should be prepared to rotate your tires when your done. my sidewalls were pretty chunked when i was done. i used 4low when i run but if your good with a stick and you can get it into first to reduce bogging you will be fine, if not better off in 4hi. i have a carbed single port gl with d/r 5 speed. i ran 45psi all the way round with 185/70/13's. i remain competitive in the "h" stock class however am quickly outmatched by better drivers in more 'appropriate' cars ie civic dx's keep and eye on your oil mine tended to seep a little extra due to cornering load. use cheap gas, higher octane actually doesn't do that great. leave your spare in but take every thing else out, the spare helps keep the car a little lower and prevents a little of that body roll keep and eye on the tack, i don't know if you do but i don't have a rev limiter. clean your windows, you'd be surprised how much glare is preventable rap you steering column in tape, the adjustable steering wheel height has come loose on me more then once, or twice, or three times...you look stupid going down the track with your steering wheel going up and down while you try to turn. remember its and old car, it may not be fast...but i will corner be prepared to hit your head, i'm 6 1 and i have to sit like homie g just to fit under the roof full tank of fuel works best for me, maybe it will for you too
  10. sorry bout the pictures being out of order. yeah the rain started as we were out at the resort for lunch, had to cut lunch short because none of us had covered our stuff. there were two course layouts and a total of 7 runs. the rain actually helped most of us as it kept us from digging in too deep. sideways was the order of the afternoon and the casualties for the day were a rear axel on a turbo impreza and (i'm not positive on this one) a throw out barring on a turbo legacy
  11. for whatever reason it seems to be hit or miss, please try again. i don't know how to lower the size of the photos to post them directly to the board. someone pointed out that closing and opening the window works best, sorry if it doesn't work.
  12. not sure how well this will work but here's a link http://pheonix165.spaces.msn.com/photos/?_c02_owner=1 if it doesnt work the first time please reload the page. sorry but its in slide show format, just choose the speed and press play
  13. 3. July 30th 4. August 20th 5. September 23rd* 6. September 24th* Note: *This is an overnight stay at the resort, with extra runs, party in the evening, and early morning start, depending on hangovers!
  14. sorry it took me so long to reply. the best way to get to mt washington is to take the ferry to nanaimo and go north from there. all the events listed are at mt washington alpine resort in there lower parking lot. now for the bad news... they have started requesting people to let them know when they plan on attending events because of a lack of attendance. events are cost (in canadian funds) 40 per event plus add another 10 if your not a island rally club member hope it helps
  15. yes that's the one i realise that a good number of them members on the board aren't even close to the event, but it doesn't hurt to post
  16. while i don't generally go to these (i work seven days a week right now) i figured some of you may be interested its on july 9th http://www.rallybc.com/irc/2006/RallyCross2SuppRegs.pdf
  17. the *ahem* leash is so someone can let him know when his time is up, they give him a tug and he's supposed to stop.
  18. so your saying it may not be worth the effort, oh well.
  19. i have an 87 gl sedan, i use the car as a daily driver and a weekend racer (its not competitive, just fun) i never use the back seat or trunk at all...i was wondering what kind of weight can be saved by removing the back seat carpeting and other interior bits, and if its worth the overall savings? please keep in mind that if its only good for 3/10ths of a sec i wouldn't call that worth it!!! any help would be appreciated, and if anybody has actually weighed this stuff that would be good too.
  20. why would you ask that? my 4wd only has an electric so i'm thinking no...
  21. did a search and looked through pages for the past few months (couple hundred posts) and didn't find what i was looking for. first, when it says swap the 4wd distributor for the 2wd one, cant you just switch the weights? is there a spring and weight kit that you can buy? second (and this may sound dumb) when it says a turbo muffler is that a brand? or does it mean a muffler from a turbo? anyways, thanks for your help. oh and one other thing...does anyone know if they make a jetting kit for the hitachi (please stop saying get a weber the carb i have works fine its the air filter assembly that seems the most restrictive)
  22. so i guess if you ran some smaller (leaner) primaries you might be able to make it work
  23. i have only seen one other 4wd sedan here on the island other that that there mostly 2wd or wagons. i've never seen a lifted on in person before...i'm on the fence about doing it myself because if i did i couldn't race anymore (rules wouldn't allow it)
