I have it on my 01 Impreza also, and it is by the back passenger door. start by checking all the connections I guess?

I am looking to replace my shocks, struts and exhaust, wondering how much I should look at that costing me. I don't believe I can do it myself. OH and brakes...maybe the order in which this should be done also.....any feedback would be great, I can change my oil, air filter, distributor and spark plugs...thats about how deep I have gotten... thanks for the feedback..just looking to replace, not really any super upgrades.

I have an 01 impreza and I have the same problem, I bought some of that rain-x stuff for the inside (not the wipes, but the bottle) and it kind of helped...though I dont believe I was very good at putting it on, it sometimes (I think if you use too much) leaves a fog of its own on your windows, I lost patience trying to apply the correct amount, where it works but does not leave the film on your window. Possibly the wipes work better? that I dont know.

I found mine at a site called rackattack.com and they will (as will the thule site) help you get the right fit for your car. I have a 01 impreza and the only thing I would say is double check all the measurements when you put it on your car.

outback_97...where did you get your keyless entry? I think this will solve all my issues with the door locks..

I also had that problem, in my 01 impreza and the tail lights were sealed up but directly underneath the light housing on the inside of the trunk there was a round plug that had somehow dissapeared. I found a new plug at the hardware store, and that solved the problem. the water was not as bad as having the top come off a gallon of milk on the way home from shopping in my wagon, and having it leak into the compartment under the floor, and all around the tire...of course this was in february so it all froze..along with all the straps and such I keep in there....ooohh that sucked.

I have a 93 loyale and a 01 impreza, and the door lock features are quite different, not sure if my 01 impreza is not working properly or thats the way it should be..here it is when I lock the car from the outside on my 93 all the doors lock, if I want to do that on my 01 I have to use the inside switch, then close the door, when I lock it from the outside only the drivers side door locks. same thing for unlocking the car. (Though I heard this is a safety feature) also on my 93 the drivers side door will not lock unless I lock it from the outside, I find this a nice feature, so I dont lock my keys in my car, though my 01 does not have that feature. it this the way it should be?

Ok..yea...my rust is not THAT bad, at least where I can see. when it got repainted at 50k it got an underbody spray too, so I am hoping the bottom isnt too bad either, minus the heat shield for the exhaust, thats falling apart. I think conn might be a bit far for a gas tank, but thanks for the heads up.

just out of curiosity...I heard that the outbacks don't have as much "pep" as the say...impreza...do you feel you have more than you did in the older outback or did that pretty much stay the same? also, I think they upgrade the cupholders and accessories each year, I have a 01 impreza and my friend as the 05 and the console and cupholder set up is much better in the newer one.

My husband knows hermon....he follows UFC thats where Dana White is from. Was that possibly that horrible ice storm of 98 you were mentioning?..that was quite bad. If I had my wagon at that time, I would probally have driven around in it too, just cuz I could...I hear you about the county sheriff to... I have spent enough time (though not much) up maine to picture that situation

The gas tank is my only real "concern" I think we will do the brakes ourselves, if we choose to keep it. On the mechanic part of it...my "local" mechanic told me to trash the car 3 years ago...and the one we've been bringing the car to is a foreign car mechanic. I wish I had a garage and a lift at my disposal and I would just take my time and do everything that needs to be done...myself. OOH and a paint shop..then I can get rid of the rust, and paint it all myself. I think I need to take it to a body shop and check out the rust issues, make sure they are not bad then decide about the other work...I guess. Now that I have had a couple days to think about it...I dont think I want to get rid of it, I just need to know what I am diving into...these message boards really help. Seeing what other people have done makes me optimistic.

This sucks...I have a (as I said) 93 Subaru Loyale 4x4 wagon. it has close to 160,000 miles on it, I brought it in to have the brakes looked at and they told me it might be a good idea if I look for another car. It needs brakes, front and back, struts and shocks and a new exhaust (which was not a suprise) however they also said the gas tank has a hole in it. I trust these guys, they are good local mechanics, who have been working on this car for a while. I just had some new seals put on It got a new clutch a couple of years ago, and the interior, in my mind is pretty good, it was repainted at 55,000 miles so it has barely any rust,besides some surface stuff around the door handles, and the engine runs great...I don't know that I can do all the work myself, yet I can't afford to have it done. soooo I am unfortunately i am considering selling it. However, I really don't know what I should be looking for, considering the work it needs. I am located in York Maine, and it loves the winters (minus the salt, though I wash it frequently). Any info would be greatly appriciated. Thanks

Have fun on your trip, I did that from maine to washington (the olympic peninsula is awesome, though my car did NOT LIKE Colorado), then down to SF and back across, first real trip in my 93 Loyale. Good luck finding the lights.
