  1. Easy people, ive had this car for like 12 years and i have kept it as nice a turbo Legacy as i could. But New England winter had won in the end, the day i tapped my rocker panel and my foot went right through it. Trust me it may look like a clean car but it's not as nice as the pictures make it look. This car has served it's time with me, it was my first semi newish car that i ever had and acctually paid real money for...$7,500 at the time. Now....if anyone will be interested in some parts off of it I will be parting some stuff out, i will go over it later. Oh, Paul....I will be up at school today so i wont be around but try to give me a call anyway.
  2. This time we will start with the stuff we never finnished on the wagon. Since most of the lift part is already done anyway. Some clearing for bigger tires, not using the sledge this time. Damn thought i took a few more pictures of that progress.....anyway more will come. And one other little idea i had. Picture this with a double tube bumper under it and you get the idea.
  3. Oh, will also be moving up a tire size. The lift was always built to clear 35"s just never got around to getting a set, and never did the bodywork to the wagon to clear them.
  4. Well the wagon body is about as destroyed as can be, and there are a few things on it that never got done and really no point in finnishing them up now. So after a few months debating i have decided to use my old turbo Legacy body as a transplant since the tranny blew up in it and i now have the 240 to drive daily "when there is no snow anyway". So this time i will try to make it a bit more of a build thread since i never did with the wagon. It's getting most of the lift stuff from the wagon, with a few redesigns along the way. The doner and recipiant. The soon to be lifted sedan.
  5. Thats awsome. I had been hoping you might swing in with that thing so i could see it, but it would be even cooler if i get to wheel with it! Yeah if you wanna meet up some day next weekend and head out to the trails for awile, im cool with that. Just lemme know.

  7. Wow someone local with a lifted subby! Thats awsome! By any chance have you been to Holmgren subaru for parts? I started working there a few months ago and have heard of a lifted Forester that stops in now and then. Yes the area is in voulentown and is part of a state forest. Have run into several people out there without any problem and been out there with an off-road club for a run. As far as anyone knows it compleatly legal and is a great wheeling area, lots of different terrain to play on.
  8. Well this was intended as the official pic thread for the wagon. I guess i never kept up on it. We did end up building a 2.5/2.2 hybrid motor for it and man does it move this thing. Can pass cars up hill now!!! Gotta give my girl freind cred. for some realy strong welds and a great job putting this new motor together! Both have been heavily tested and still going strong. I did end up breaking some clutch packs in the R-180 rear diff and one more axle. Swapped in my spare r-180 and axle and been ok since. Well i havnt been out wheeling yet this year......well except to pull my girls Ranger out of a mud pit......because i blew the tranny in my turbo Legacy and have been using the wagon as my daily driver. Cant really afford to break it untill i get another daily on the road. Anyway, lets see if i can find the last few wheeling pics.
  9. No problem. When we built our wagon it really was an experiment in what would work, and so far the rearend and axles has been the only issue. There are upgrades for the R-180 stuff but big money! The 8.8 is another great option that i was seriously considering not to long ago.
  10. Sorry havnt done much wheeling lately as it is currently my daily driver. Just some bald rear tires, new doors on one side and more cracks in the windshield. lol 6inch homemade lift 33x9.50 BFG's Sammi t-case R-180 STI rear diff and axles. Front and rear LSD's 2.5L High comp. Hybrid motor.
  11. Well the spiders were the first thing to give up, after that we welded it back together and started going thru axles like they were going out of style. The R-180 diff and axles have been holding up alot better but even then i blew the LSD clutch disks out of one and broke two axles. It will take alot of abuse for this to happen.....ALOT of abuse! But it is still a weak link. The one thing that might save the tranny is the T-case, The sammi T-case is suprizingly strong and after all the abuse i have put on that and the tranny im amazed neither one has given up yet but i'm still only running a high comp. 2.5L, and the 3.3 is gonna have alot more tourqe. If i wasnt such a damn purist and i was to do it again i would probly go right for an R-200 or something that was built to handle out putting all the power to one end of the car. And im sure they can be had alot cheaper than the STI rear end set up.
  12. Sweet prodject! I think my wagon might be starting to get a little scared! lol. Just a few heads up from experiance. I blew up two Legacy turbo 5 speeds in my SVX befor going to the six speed. The stock R-160 rear end was the first thing to go in my wagon turning 33"s with the stock motor. Just something to keep in mind.

  14. OK, progress has been a bit slow. Mostly working on getting it apart, but at the same time i need to keep it mobile for now. Only some surface rust on the floor, no problems there, just got to figure out what i want to treat it with and recover it with. We have also been redoing the interior peices bit by bit im just to lazy to take those picks right now. But as i stated they are all waiting in my bed room.
  15. True, sometimes you just gotta look outside your local wallmart, lol. Now did you plan on clear coating the parts or do you think the paint will hold up just fine? Because i did see a few interesting clear coat options out there.
  16. Yeah that little black hose thing comming out from behind the right strut tower area next to the fuel pump.
  17. Well on mine i dont have an air cleaner (Paul?) But i do have a small diamiter vacume line comming from the firewall around the area of the fuel pump that is just hanging there and has no home that i can find so i assumed it must go to the intake. It's the fuel vapor hose from the gas tank.
  18. Well living alone i dont even use my bedroom, it's to cold in there and i dont want to run the electric heat. I was looking at that rustoleum primer last night, does that come out white? It seems weird to prime the parts white just to paint them black again. I think the fancy napa brand paint has a clear plastic primer, i had used it several years ago and it worked pretty well. I was also looking for that krylon outdoor paint, but most of what they had was the weird textured stuff. Will have to keep looking.
  19. Lol, looks like your doing the same thing i am...using your bedroom as a parts storage area. Makes it very convinient for working on cleaning up parts. Parts look great BTW. What kinda paint and process did you use for the front grill?
  20. If I remember corectly the 80's front spindals have the ball joint in them and they go into the control arm, where as the 70's the ball joint is in the control arm and goes into the spindal. So your gonna need a front disk set up from a gen 1 Suby. I just plan on swapping the spindals off one of my BRATs for now becouse i know i had just put new brakes on it when i was driving it. When i pulled the master off my 74 it was bone dry, so i have to assume the wheels cylinders are junk. I plan on sticking a 90,s Legacy master in it also due to the fact they are alot easier to find and should be alot more reliable. Still figuring out how to do the rear disk set up......Yes i loath drum brakes.

  22. Well i dont have any plans to get rid of them right now....but you never know. Oh, and all the VW dub stuff got hauled out a long time ago.
  23. It is, the motor was suppost to go to the junkyard but when they were moving the cars around they decided the back of my BRAT would be a good place for it.
