Aftermarket Seats for a Gen 1 Brat?
Subafreak replied to Seahag1978's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
It's not looking good for me right now. I'll feel like an ***** if I blow off my daughter and my wife has been on me all summer about house and yard work and I already told her we do that this Sunday:( Anyway like you said the doors won't be closed yet, and there's still the matter of the Loyal. -
BEAUTIFUL!

You can play with the dash out of my 79. Sure the Arizona weather kept the body from rotting but anything rubber or plastic is toast. -

Ohh! Who redoes dashes and what exaclty do they do to them? I'm figuring there has to be something out there we can do ourselves to repair dashes. I'm gonna try mounting a pair of SVX seats in my 78, We'll see how that goes. -
CRAP! I really just wanted to come for the people:) Not that your not people but you know what I mean. I don't REALLY need anything right now just thought it would be cool to hang out for the day and meet some new peeps (and maybe score some parts). I'll see what I can do for Sat. I got to be in Wosta by 8:00 but I already told my daughter that i'd bring her to riding lessons too, so she has me on that, and I don't think she'll let me out of it. We'll see.

Back From Moosens with Goodies!!
Subafreak replied to Bucky92's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Oh, I see. If there were more Pauls in the world there would never be a shortage of Subaru parts. (But were would they all come from?) Three cheers for Paul. :drunk: -
Well I did leave out the part about it needing a windshield and that I have no title for it. So a trade maynot be ideal. So how did you make out at Pauls?

For $500 I'll sell you a solid 87 with 4 good tires, new exaust, new timming belts, new clutch, and new fuel pump. Shameless plug:)

What do you think about these Flares???
Subafreak replied to garner's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Yeah, fiberglass fenders would be cool too, a customer just finnished crushing the left one on my 79 today:mad: She obviously should not be driving an E250 extended panel van.:-\ -
Well now a gen 1 BRAT owner....again
Subafreak replied to Subafreak's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Thanks for the offer. I will probly need some things but I don't know what yet. I will use most of the good drivetrain from the 78 to use in the 79. For right now it looks like my most needed things are gonna be interior peices and a good hood and D/S fender. I got a BRAT around here I have to go check out for good parts and then try and talk the guy into letting me "get it out of his yard":) Damn me for letting all that Gen 1 stuff slip through my fingers all these years. -
XT-6 5 bolt hubs on EA81?
Subafreak replied to subiewonkenobi's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
You seem to know the prosses well:) Are you saying that the XT6 and Legacy struts are that similer? So if you are converted for XT6 hubs you could go ahead and use Legacy hubs too? -
Pics of the stripped Brat

Cool. Looks alot like what my 79's gonna look like this winter also. What color are you thinking for you minitruck? -
Well I converted my EA81 wagon to EA82 hubs and brakes so why can't you take it a step further and convert them to XT6 stuff?

Totally AWSOME! Anyone got picks of the airdamn on a Gen 1? I'm thinking between the flares and a damn it would look just right. Also consider a set SOLD! if someone is gonna make copies of these. (the flaps could go thoe;) ) -

I should have one or the other ready for Carlise altho I don't think I could take the drive all the way down there (10 mins at 80MPH is to much) But I plan on taking on anyway. I need to get the 79 restored and sold to get my money back and get money for the cutomizing of the 78. The 78's probly gonna get a high compression 2.5L and AWD tranny, lowered with some type of 5 lug set up. Thinking of painting it ot match the wifes new Baja (black pearl with grey wheels). But first gotta get the 79 sold. -
Picked up a 78 and 79 this weekend. The 78 is from Arizona so no rot but still needs lots of love. The 78 is a runner and still in really good shape but needs a little love also. I plan to restore the 79 and sell it, but I'm keeping the 78 to customise. The 79 is to solid to hack apart for "unpure" modding but the 78 is in the perfect condition (needs some body work, but solid enough for a worthy prodject). I wish I kept my '77 it had alot of good parts I need for these ones now, oh well time to go gen 1 shopping. Oh Paul.

Good ideas on building a chassis for the Brat?
Subafreak replied to Caboobaroo's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I am a little curious why your going for the Nissan front suspension? I'm thinking it's becouse it's a more commen front end to lower, from what I gather your getting alot of ideas from the Nissan minitruck crowd. I just think sticking with a lowered BRAT front end would do the trick and save alot of fabrication. All you'd have to do is make some engine and tranny mounts, fab up a 4 link rear and be done. Is the 2.8L a popular engine for the Nissan crowd too? -
Buy the Monster Loyal in the for sale forum:)
-
Oh it's on then. I'm going Mini truck style on my BRAT too, but I'm sticking with all Suby drivetrain and AWD. I see a shoot-out in our future.

The speed sensor is in the speedo head on both autos and manuals. Altho I don't know how much the EA82 cares about it. When I put an EA82T in my 81 wagon I never hooked it up and it didn't care. But when I put the EJ22 in my Loyal the ECU would get confused when I decceled down a hill, so I hooked it up. I'm not sure if the carbed car has it though. And Keith, good call on the fuel hose, you will definitly want to change that to MPFI hose and use good clamps.
