4-link setup, how does it work?
Subafreak replied to Caboobaroo's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Sorry, I've just never really heard good things about them, let alone someone building one up. I'm used to the ones in the Blazers tossing rods through the blocks, and they were real pigs in thoes trucks. Now that you mention it, they weren't a bad motor in a Camero with a 5 speed, moved out pretty well. But why not go with a Subaru drivetrain? AWD with an EJ turbo motor could get you into some low numbers, no? -

Not to be an rump roast or anything, I think most of the idea sounds cool.......BUT...Why in gods name are you going to use the worst V6 GM ever made? -
Better yet SVX powered Syncro Vanagons.

You mean there are people out there that think an EJ swap is a bad idea:confused: Then there are the real crazys that built 2.7L:grin: -
Hmm, guess I'm keeping it.

I was kicking around the idea of selling my Loyal but does anybody buy these things? I would need to get $3,000 or at least $2,500 for it to be worth it for me, but does anyone care? Even if the car was a mint 92 Loyal wagon what would it be worth? The body is beat to hell but the drivetrain is top notch with lots of new parts. I love the car and the looks it gets but I'm just looking to free up some time and stuff. It would definitly need to be bought by someone who can work on cars but I was using it as a daily driver and it is RI. inspected, so it's not like an off-road only car. Actually, I need to put another motor in it because I broke the rings on #3 piston. but I'm trying to decide if I want to sell it and what I want to put back in it for a motor. If I could sell it I would probly put an N/A EJ22 or a HO 2.5L back in. If I keep it I would just put the EJ22T back in, or maybe the HO 2.5L I'm trying ot get some ideas. What or if our creations have sold for around here?

Nice! Was that FWD or AWD? And what does that thing way? I got a 14.7 with my SVX so your REAL close:brow:

lowering your car on a low budget.

I've got a low (real low) RX, I can't even get the lift pads under it with out jacking it up by the tow hooks, and even then it's a sqeeze and it still has full suspension travel but it's only rear wheel drive. I'll have to get some pics before I kill it. -
I'm with him. Why give up traction and light weight when you can drop in an EJ22T built to 300hp and still have AWD?

That is so F%*$ing AWSOME:slobber:

Well I took it home tonight for it's maiden voyage and I gotta say it acctually runs pretty damn good. I guess if you give it 5mins to warm up it's ready to go, it cruises around (slowley) really well and when you hammer down and pop the secondaries it gets moving right along, nothing like the EJ22T in my Loyal but alright. I just have to find a few exaust leaks and this thing will make someone a good little runner. I'm just hoping to get stupid good gas mileage wile I'm driving it.

Hmmm....what is it and how do I find it?:-\

I got an 86? (haven't even made sure yet) Wagon for free a few months ago. Some guy saw my Loyal and stoped to see if I wanted one for a parts car. So I went to pick it up and the thing is in to good a shape for a parts car, (No cancer) The ONLY thing it needed was a clutch, so I tossed a clutch disk in it and am going to drive it for a few weeks wile I do heads gaskets and stuff on my Loyal. The only thing that sucks is that it's a carb motor, In other words you need to keep it running when it's cold and it always has a dead spot off idel. Short of tossing in an EJ22 whats the best way to straiten these things out? BTW: It will be for sale for like $750 as soon as I get my car done.

I'm thinking full fabrication on that one. What exactly do you meen for the harness mounting? (Stock belts?) This reminds me of an idea I had when I had more time for cool ideas, has anyone thought of morphing a BRAT fun roof onto a hatch and then keeping the back half open like an Amigo, plus adding a roll bar? I always thought this would be a cool looking hatch. Lifted of course:)

Hay, I havn't been able to get to a computer all week. Anyway awsome time even thoe I had to leave early. (I hope I didn't miss to much good partying Sat. night) Yet another event to put on my calender. It was fun getting to meet some of you crazys here and seeing some of the crazy I already knew. Maybe next year we will be, dare I say? Organized! And sleeping out of the car was fine but I must remember to bring a chair next year.
