  1. I have a passenger fog light and if it isn't too expensive to ship, I have a front bumper for a 98 outback wagon also. Do you need the entire bumper or just the cover? PM me and make me an offer on the parts. Mike
  2. It may very well be that you have a bad u joint in the rear drive shaft. Take the shaft sown and see if either of the joints is stiff. If so, it will need replacement.
  3. Correst that it is a 92 not an 02 that is going into the 98 forester.
  4. Hey guys what issues are we looking at in putting a 02 2.2 into a 98 forester. It presently has the 2.5 DOHC I have been told that the swap is easy if you use a newer intake and harness. Is that the only thing we will need to change? Thanks Mike
  5. The import experts parts are first rate. I have used them many times and they are the same parts you are going to get from subaru without the high prices. They stand behind their parts too. They are easy to get on the phone and very knowledgeable. I'd use their kits anytime.
  6. Send me a picture of the pulley mdjdc1@gmail.com . I am pretty sure I have one in my parts storage that I can get to you and you can fix your AC before it gets too hot. Mike
  7. I don't think there are any issues with using the blocks interchangably. Look at the tow and if they look the same you are golden. Make sure both have the EGR setup if yours already has that. The blocks are pretty versatile. I just built a 2.5 SOHC using a block off of a DOHC motor. It has been done before and sorks just fine. I think you will be able to do the swap and go. I too had one with a broken head bolt and even NAPA wouldn't try to get the bolt out of the block. Good luck.
  8. a real hard worker. She wants to go to the Naval Academy and become a jet pilot. Real ambition.
  9. Oh yeah, she did her parts just fine. It was my screw up. I knew it was going to be something simple. She is really good at the mechanical stuff. While I was buttoning up the trans underneath, she was installing the shifter and never even asked me what to do other than the direction of the plate that holds down the boot. Next thing I knew she was getting down and the shifter was done. She's really into sweat equity and I appreciate her work ethic. Thanks Guys.
  10. Finally got to it yesterday and I started hunting down loose connections. Evidently when I was moving the wiring harness to install the pedals i partially unplugged one of the harness plugs. Since it was only partially unplugged it appeared to be plugged in. When i started pulling on other plugs, it fell apart and I knew I had found the problem. Tonight my daughter gets to drive her car home for the first time with the 5 spd D/R tranny. She is really excited. I still have to find a console for it, but she really doesn't care, she just wants to drive it. Thanks for the help guys. I really needed the encouragement at the time. Mike
  11. No problem. I'll just put them back in the shed and use them as needed.

  12. John is correct I have some of those and they are in good shape. Make me an offer and I can pull one for you. Mike
  13. If you want a good set of heads I have some off a 97 that I can send to you. Do the leak down test first and see which valves are bent and then get back with me.
  14. That is what I was thinking, so I will check that today. Just wanted some other ideas before I get back into it. I am trying to teach her the ins and outs of the car and I let her put some stuff back together. She might not have plugged the ECU back in properly. Good kid and really wants a car that can go in the mud. Thanks guys.
  15. Here's the deal. I did a D/R swap in my daughter's loyale today. It originally had an auto trans. now the car cranks but it won't start. i did have to remove the ECU to change out the pedal box, but I'm pretty sure it went back in correctly. She did that part, so I have to double check it. Right now it sounds like I'm not getting any fuel. Anyone have any ideas as to what i need to do now? All suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks Mike
  16. It does have the drive train in common except for the drive shaft. Body parts and interior are going to be different. The front hubs and brakes are the same as are the back, but that is where it ends.
  17. The only real difference between the manual and the automatic is going to be the tranny harness and the length of the driveshaft. Other than that, you will still be good to go.
  18. Your driveline will fit 96 thru 99. In 2000 they changed the engine and ecu and the body changed too.
  19. I have a 92 Loyale that I am fixing up for my daughter. Her birthday is this saturday and we are doing the automatic to D/R swap and then she is going to drive it home. This is the last thing we need to do for her to start driving it. My question is about the Neutral safety switch. I know that it has to be jumped in order to start the car and the last one I did the jumper was put in on the automatic selector harness in the console. That was an 86 GL. Am I going to be looking in the same place and which wires do I jump or is the harness going to call for a jumper somewhere else? Thanks Guys She is really looking forward to doing this and we are going to rip the automatic out Friday night. This is going to be her BIG gift for her birthday. Mike
  20. If you are using the load warrior I would go a bit further to the front rather than all the way back. I have found that using the rack a bit forward gives more even weight distribution and better handling.
  21. I know what you mean. He would give me the shirt off his back and I would do the same. A lot of give and take in a true friendship and I wouldn't have it any other way. I pray that your buddy comes home safe and sound and tell him I said THANK YOU for his service to our country.
  22. I guess I've been burned by disreputable mechanics here in richmond and it cam out today. Now I only use my best friend and he was my mechanic first. LOL Thanks for the understanding.
  23. Wow, I really sisn't mean to stir up such feelings. I will concede the point and hope that you all can forgive me for starting this. I'm sorry.
  24. There is a difference between the manual and automatic, but it is in the front half of the shaft. If the u joints are only bad in the rear half, then you can replace that part and leave the front alone. Let me know if I can help you in any way.
