  1. I know for certain that you can only get yakima keys directly from them. They are not a dealer item.
  2. If it is a Yakima rack, which most of these are and the locks are unlocked you can use the lock core removal key. I know you don't have one, so send me your address and I will mail you one. Most rack stores around here won't take a core out for liability reasons, thinking you are stealing the rack. Once you have the core out look at the back or side of the core and you will see a number. It will be an A followed by three numbers. Call Yakima at: 888-925-4621 and tell them you need a new key. They are four dollars apiece and they are more than happy to send them to you. Now, if the cores are locked, you will have to either get one of the cores picked so you can use the removal key to get it out or you can drill out one of them and get the core number for keys to the other locks. They should all be keyed the same. Again, just send me your address and I will get the removal key to you. If you need any other info you can PM me and we can try to fix this problem. Mike
  3. There is an access hole on the top of the bell housing behind the intake. You can install them and tighten them there. If you have any questions you can call me 804-393-0516
  4. Thanks Guys I really appreciate the help. I got this car for a thousand and should have it up and running in a week or so. (We are moving so that time may have to be adjusted.) My wife really like the car and I already have her 96 outback sold to my best friend.
  5. I just got a 98 outback for my wife and I have two extra key fobs for the keyless entry. Does anyone have the inxtructions for programming the fobs for her car. They are the rectangular fobs with two square buttons. They are Subaru badged and the care does not have an alarm system. I know how to do that one as my car has that system. Thanks in advance.
  6. The first thing I would want to know is, whether or not they are using weld in pipe or bolt on. I get so pissed when I see a bolt together system all welded so that a simple pipe replacement becomes a full exhaust replacement. Go to your local autoparts store and price out the pipe and muffler and see if you can do the replacement yourself. Bolt together is the way to go, but the muffler shops use universal pipe and weld it in because it is cheaper and quicker for them. Also look closely yourself and see if you need the whole thing replaced. If they are using weld together pipes they will want to do the whole thing because now your muffler won't match up. You can save a ton if you do a little inspecting on your own.
  7. I have an engine that you can use. It is dual port exhaust, but I have the first "Y" pipe to go with it. It only hads 79k on it and was a good rinner when it was pulled. It was originally purchased for a swap that never got done. Just need it out of the shop. PM me for more info or you can call me 804-393-0516. I'm close too, so there's no need to ship.
  8. They are the same. The turbo heads are right and left. The other models are interchangeable.
  9. Gary: The keepers are in the oil pan. Oops, you said a dropped valve not the seat. I'd have to see the top of the piston to determine if I wanted to reuse it. If you need a piston just let me know. I have a block just sitting with damage in the cylinders from water sitting in them. The pistons are fine though and I can pull one out for you.
  10. Just got to my office and have someone looking at the unit today. I will let you kinow if it is still available this afternoon. Thanks Mike
  11. Maybe I didn't make myself clear. It is a subaru cd changer with a head unit. The changer fits under the passenger seat. It is badged subaru, but made by panasonic. You think they make their own?
  12. I have a cd changer that I am willing to sell. How much are you willing to offer for a Panasonic unit with head unit built for subaru. Comes complete ready to install.
  13. I didn't realize that you are so close to me. If you need help, drive up to richmond one weekend and I'll give you a hand doing the work.
  14. Hello and welcome to the world of the outback. The HVAC controls are NOT vaccuum controlled. They are electronic. The problem you describe has to do with either the control module in the dash and it will need to be replaced, or the actuator motor is going and it will have to be replaced. Find these at a good junkyard and do the work yourself. A dealer will kill you on fees. Good Luck.
  15. No sunroof, just a dog that really stank in the rain yesterday. Must have spent alot of time in that car.
  16. The last time I did a sub that sat for several years the pump was all fouled due to the gas varhishing over time and the tank was rusted so bad I couldn't get the car to run for more than a few minutes bafore the pickup clogged. I do agree the the dog smell is the deal breaker though. Such a shame as the leather interior is beautiful. Time to send her an offer and see what she decides.
  17. To be honest, the dog smell is going to be the deal breaker. I'm very inclined to buy this one as a parts car and not a fixer. When I spoke with my mechanic last night he brought up many of the same points and said that I'd be putting alot of money on the car. He even mentioned the fuel system and the fact that it will most likely need a new tank and pump and possibly new injectors. I'll float the parts car offer to her and see where it goes. I also have to keep in mine that the car is two hours away and I will have to tow it home with my friends truck. I'm seeing alot of work with this one. Thanks for all of the input, it is helping me to make an informed decision. Mike
  18. Here's the deal. I have the opportunity to buy a 97 OBW with 157k on it. I went to look at it today and visually it is a nice car, but it has been sitting for three years. The HG's went and the owner did'nt want to pay for the repair so she let the car sit. When I opened the car door the smell of wet dog hit me like a ton of bricks. It is the limited edition with the full leather package, so I'm wondering if I will be able to get the smell. I also want your opinions as to what other issues I may run into besides the HG's. She wants 800 for the car and I want to know what you all think of a car that has been sitting for this long. Thanks for any input. Mike
  19. I had a very similar situation and it turned out to be bad rod bearings. I had to swap out the motor. I'm willing to bet, with the spotty records, that the oil hasn't been changed regularly and you are looking at rod bearings too.
  20. You can replace the pistons, but not the rods. I have actually done the pistons without cracking the block, but to do the rods you must split it.
  21. Anytime. Don't want to pay full price when we don't have too. If you need a know good piston and you don't want to pay 90 let me know and I can send you one of mine.
  22. You probably blew a fusable link. It sounds like you are not getting any power to the ignition and that has nothing to do with the ECU. The fusable links are in the engine compartment right behind the battery on the front of the strut tower. There is a black box open it up and you will find the links. Check them all.
  23. Check out this auction http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Parts-Accessories_Car-Truck-Parts-Accessories__1990-1996-SUBARU-LEGACY-IMPREZA-2-2-TIMING-BELT-KIT_W0QQitemZ320278269655QQddnZPartsQ20Q26Q20AccessoriesQQadnZCarQ20Q26Q20TruckQ20PartsQ20Q26Q20AccessoriesQQddiZ2811QQadiZ2865QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item320278269655&_trksid=p3756.m14.l1318 It has all the components except the piston. As I said, you can call the importexperts and ask them about a full kit. If not, here is an auction for the piston from another dealer. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Parts-Accessories_Car-Truck-Parts-Accessories__Timing-Belt-Tensioner-Adjuster-Subaru-Impreza-Legacy_W0QQitemZ380050379292QQddnZPartsQ20Q26Q20AccessoriesQQadnZCarQ20Q26Q20TruckQ20PartsQ20Q26Q20AccessoriesQQddiZ2811QQadiZ2865QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item380050379292&_trksid=p3756.m14.l1318 Hope this helps out.
  24. By the way, I have a spare one and even the tensioner too if you want. I would think that you would want new ones. You can call the import experts at 1-800-572-3681 and get an entire timing set with all of the idler pulleys too for less than 200.00. The parts are all OEM quality, even made in Japan and I have used them several times without a hitch. PM me if you have any other questions and I can get you in touch with another vendor if necessary.
