  1. I was wondering the same thing, can I use the 03 struts with my 99 tops?
  2. Unfortunately, I do not have the donor car in front of me for comparison. That is why I posed the question to the board members. Anyone know if I can use the 03 struts? Thanks guys mike
  3. I went to the dealership and the plugs recommended for the 2.5 DOHC is the NGK iridium plugs. I'm not sure of the part #. At the stealership they run 12.00 each, but with the degree of difficulty in installation it was worth the expenditure. I had to jack the engine up on each side so I could gain easier access for removal and installation. A simple job made difficult by design. Took about 45 minutes to change the plugs and wires. Did help my gas mileage thoughso, maybe it will pay for itself over time.
  4. These would be outback struts going on my outback. Just different years.
  5. I'm here in richmond and last year I got quotes on a windshield for my 96 OB and the chains were 300 and up CASH!!. There is a small outfit here that gave me a quote of 150, but they do it on a drive in , first come first served basis. Safelite was one of the companies I called and they were 300 too.
  6. both. I am looking at a full set and need to know if they will be compatible.
  7. That is exactly what mine did. Nice and smooth, but popped out of fifth gear on the highway.
  8. I had a very similar problem with my 99 outback and the problem was a set of mismatched tires. The AWD system didn't like the tires that the previous owner had put on and once I put on a set of matched tires the problem dissappeared.
  9. If you don't have the plugs in the console, then you won't have it under the seats either. The wiring is part of the interior wiring harness. I just pulled one out of an outback yesterday. The harnes is all plug and play, but you have to get under the carpet and some of the trim in the back of the car. Time consuming, but very doable. I guess you could cut the seat harness from the loom I have and splice it onto your car.
  10. My wife has a 96 outback with 253,000 on her and she's running strong. 2nd engine, but same tranny since day one.
  11. The 96 OBS should have the wiring as I have looked at several outbacks and the wiring is in the console and under the seats. For the outbacks at least the upgrade is very easy.
  12. I just spoke with my wife and she said to sell it. Make me an offer for the unit or send me your email and I can try to get you pictures of it. All I have to do is swap the WB head unit for the regular one in her car. No problem.
  13. I need your email addy so i can send you pics of the unit. I spoke with my wife and she wants to keep the WB radio, so the pics I have are of the other unit.
  14. Do yourself a favor and install the unit yourself. If you are patient you can get to the unit in about 15 minutes and have the whole job done in 1/2 hopur to 45 minutes. No need to spend the money to have it installed at the dealer.
  15. The one I have is the CD tape player without the weatherband. It works great and I pulled the oold one from my wife's car to give her the six CD changer that I got. If you would like I can send you pictures of the unit. I cn talk to my wife and she may be willing to exchange her WB radio for the nonWB radio. I'll talk to her later. Let me know Mike
  16. Are you looking for the weather band radio, or do yu want to have a cd player? I have a clean setup that I know works and is just siting around, but it doesn't have weather band. Just a regular radio cassette and CD combo.
  17. I have all of the parts listed if anyone is interested. Just PM me and I can pull them off my donor car. 97 outback
  18. The fog lights are made of glass and it probably has a crack in it and that is the reason for the water. You will have to take the light off the car and drain it, find the crack and seal it with crazy glue. The water is not necessarily proof of a flood vehicle. The water is forced into the light thru the crack while you are driving. Good luck. I just replaced both of mine due to holes in the lights.
  19. Go and buy a Haynse Manual ans it will give you step by step instructions on everything you may want to do to the car. They are very inexpensive and very very helpful. I wouldn't even try to work on a Sube without one. The guys here are only trying to encourage you to work on the car responsibly. To go blindly into the engine compartment and tinker is a receipe for disaster. Don't be afraid to work on it, just be a little informed before you begin. It will save you many headaches and give you an intense feeling of satisfaction when you realize that you have fised the problems without a mechanics help. We are also here for help and feel free to contact us with questions. I have been on both the receiving and the giving ends while a member of this board. Good Luck
  20. The more expensive NGK are the OEM required plugs. They are designed with that engine in mind and will last about 100K. Worth the investment.
  21. If you want to replace those tumblers and the ignition and have them all keyed the same I have a donor car with all the parts necessary. I also have the door handle. PM me if you want the parts.
  22. What site were you on? I looked on the NGK site and there isn't any ability to order the sensor. Please post the link.
