Thanks for the kind words, i just put the hella´s on the other day and i could not be more satisfied with both the look of them and the light output. other things i´ve done since i got her in November is put on those "H style" wheels put on a manual choke hitatchi + oem cable rewired the radiator fan to work of a switch (it use to be directly wired) put on a new water pump changed the plugs from some 4-spoke-race-ebay-crap plugs to bosch OEM replacement, made a world of difference oh, and it might be worth mentioning that this baby has only 102.000km on the clock, or 60.000miles -
Ej swap...which tranny?
oskar_subaru replied to SuperchargedRS's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
still, from my experience the EJ D/R box is still weaker than the normal EJ 5 speed, i´ve never had a problem with one of those. and no i normally only drive around town, i rarely drive over 60mph and when i do i´m going flat out anyway. do you think that i would be safer going with a EJ or EA gearbox with the EJ25, i planing on trashing it around somewhat. i know that with the EJ trans at least i have a stronger clutch. will i have to use turbo axles (25spline?) with the EJ trans ? or can i use the EA axles and the inner joints from a EJ ? -
Ej swap...which tranny?
oskar_subaru replied to SuperchargedRS's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i´ve been thinking about this and i know about a car here with a dual range AWD trans with a diff-lock button. it´s a EDM turbo wagon and the only car with this kind of gearbox here in iceland. i think this would be a very nice setup with the EJ25 i´m thinking of putting in. maybe a EJ trans would be a better way to go but having broken two EJ gearboxes i don´t trust them as well as the EA ones -
Heater problems !!
oskar_subaru replied to oskar_subaru's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
you get the dancing banana tried switching one of the headlight relays for the heater one and surely enough the motor started blowing like a champ (was hoping it wasn't the motor, the car is only driven 102.000 km (60.000 miles)) thanks all though for great response, this forum never seizes to amaze sorry about my spelling -
ok so i bought a 1987 GL sedan and the heater is not working on any speed, i think the switch works because it turns the light on the vent selector on and of between 0 and 1 the motor turns if i give it power, is there any resistor packs outside the switch it self ?

EA82 Digidash ?
oskar_subaru replied to KristjanJohann's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i just like to be different and i really like digi-dashes, there only where about 10 subarus ever imported here that had digital dashes -
i pitch the car do the left while braking and trow it into a right turn (and the other way around) and then don´t start to give it gas until i need to straighten it out. on higspeed turns i just turn until it understeers and then let of the gas and steer into it

Old Subaru's from little Iceland
oskar_subaru replied to KristjanJohann's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
hahaha it´s just fun to see how much crap you can get away with when people don´t even know where our Island is. As for my english, i blame my old english teacher who managed to be somewhat mentally damaged and fun at the same time (one time during class he jumped up on a table to show us how an octopus moves ) building codes around here instruct that in order to build you have to dig trough all the loose soil to get to the rock layers beneath, also everything is on a concrete base and about 80% of houses are all concrete. this shows when you consider that just 2 years ago the southern region suffered an earthquake that measured 6,9 on the richter scale and with tens of thousands houses affected, only ten or so where destroyed but none collapsed. part of capital Reykjavik on a good day Iceland is exactly the same size as kentucky state but we only count about 310.000 people -

the police here don´t have to be fast, we live in turf houses with ice roofs and the worst crimes here are something like stealing hubcaps -

Why are suby transmissions so heavy?
oskar_subaru replied to zyewdall's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i have determined that the reason why the EA82 5spd Hi/lo case is so heavy is the fact that it is unbreakable trust me, i´ve tried -

yeah, we are experimenting with nuclear city heating here no no i just thought cooler oil = cooler turbo = cooler engine am am going to replace all the coolant hoses, thermostat and a few other things. is the radiator the same as the other EA82´s ? -

oskar_subaru replied to oskar_subaru's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
talking about modding, the only thing i was thinking about was adding an intercooler and a oil cooler, that could only do the beast good, wont it ? i can rebuild a motor no problem, the thing troubling me is that i don´t want to deal with a cracked head, there are only about 10 (yeah TEN) running EA82t´s in the whole country....
