  1. yep yep chrome bumpers and chrome around the taillights... so what do I need to make the 82 transmission live in the car without the clutch dieing?
  2. you could put EA82 suspension on it or convert to 5 lug.there really isnt any aftermarket for suspension on the EA series cars...
  3. Any way to tell if my parts car is infact a 82 rather than a 83+ the headlights are just two rounded rectangles and it has a 3rd eye(which I may sell). But it seems those lights came on cars from 80-84...My offroad toy has the quad headlights...
  4. Well so much for that idea than.I was considering it because I make roughly 60 bucks a week so a clutch takes a long time to buy.especially after all my other expenses-like fuel.
  5. I bought a 82 GL parts car. for some reason its clutch is WAY smaller than my 84's clutch. Both are 4wd and both are EA81's.Would I have any problems using the 82's flywheel to mate up to the 84 engine? That way I can use the smaller 82's clutch to get the car driving again. Also I plan to use the 84 as an offroad toy, assuming the clutch swap from the 82 works how much trouble is the smaller clutch going to be?
  6. I am thinking about converting a saab 900 to 4wd with a sammy t case and toyota axles.Other than some minor tweaks the build looks to be pretty similar. That and I cant stand just putting the car on a toyota frame with leafs(ew.) although I might just put the saab on the toyota frame then build it the way I want to when money isnt so tight...
  7. theres something about coupes/sedans that are lifted that is just so awesome. The reverse is also true, lowered wagons look awesome too.
  8. is it just me or did the legacy seem to do much better offroad?Possibly because of more power?Makes me wonder how a EJ swaped EA series car would do offroad? doesnt the saying go Power OR Traction OR Gearing. If you have all three great, however you can get by with only two. the legacy has power and traction, while the other roos just had traction?
  9. EJ22 in a 87 GL in FWD at 25 mph in 3rd if I punched the gas it would burn out.
  10. Ok I took some measurements. a stock EA81 sits about 7.5 inches off the ground under the front diff.the tires measure 22" on the car.Stock CV angles are 11*.Theoretical travel is 7" before axle binds up.assuming a max CV angle of 30* once I changed to the drawing to reflect 27" tires the front diff sits 10" of the ground. If I suspension lift the stock setup 2" to get the 12" of planed ground clearance axle angles become 19*.However once I widen the track width 7" or 3.5" a side axle angles are 14*.At that point theoretical travel is 11.6" before the axle binds up. 11.6" of up and down travel is much better than 7"(stock travel would be about 5" because of various componets restricting movement.) But would I have problems with the extra 3* of axle angle at normal ride height?
  11. I am trying to design a new suspension setup.Im kinda thinking if a set the front diff at 12" of ground clearance with 27" tires, then extended the track width 3.5" per side I could end up with 13 inches or so of travel. However I need to see what the stock suspension and axle combos can make first. To do that I need some measurements. What is the stock front lower control arm length? What is the ground clearance from its crossmember mounts to the ground with stock tires?Anyone happen to how an aproximate angle the suspension/axle combo sits at stock(with height adjusters set low?

I dont think a EA81 could accelerate fast enough to hydoplane over that, besides its much funner to get out when your not going 60 +mph...

well, piss. it seems that the mod bogs directly interfer with the demolition derby down here.its kinda of a memorial thing for my friends dad.we were planning on going up right after the derby but it seems everything is pretty much over by sunday.so I guess we will just go up in the fall.

How well do you think a subaru would do in this stuff? I am planning on going up there in may.I will have my 84 subaru GL with a welded diff and 26" tractor tires. Not to mention removing as much weight as I can get away with.My friends gonna go up with a his ranger on 36"s.Its gonna be fun.Any subarus gonna represent from spokane/CDA and the surrounding area?It would be cool to show all those big V8's what small lightweight 4x4 cars can do..
  16. I was bored and I found this one site that listed caleries burned while doing stuff. evidently working on a car for an hour burns 117 calories. Something that we all do alot... Also something that us offroaders dont do-washing the car(not with pressure washer but by hand) burns 202 calories... so if your looking to loose weight go spend some time with your car.oh yea just driving the thing burns up to 60 calories one more thing,if the car does break, pushing it burns 400 calories...
  17. I like the 4x4 on the subaru anyway. If you had to choose a 2wd layout for offroad(4x4 no availible) most people would choose FWD because the weight of the engine is over the driving wheels = traction(unless on a steep hill). in my backyard there is this little hill maybe 20 feet long but it its kinda steep.without fail if If the ground is wet at all I have to put my truck in 4wd to get up it,and it has a posi rearend. The subaru putts up the same hill in wetter conditions in FWD.. although the subaru 2wd layout sucks for donuts and drifts...
  18. what ive the valve failed, smashed the piston, the remains of the piston smashed into the head, which lifted the head ever so slightly and allowed FOD into #3?At that point the engine was slowed down enough that the piece in #3 stopped the motor? We are talking about a 1000th of second from valve failed to siezed engine...
  19. tommarow Im gonna vaccum out my new 84 wagon.I might get started on fixing vacuum leaks...
  20. what is the diameter of the lugnuts? Thats the diameter of the drill bit you need.
  21. anyone notice the red EA82 wagon that drove by in the first vid?
  22. it is abit rusty but by your standards it is clean.I am thinking if it isnt too rusted out I might be inclined to put an EJ22 in it when the EA81 dies...
