  1. one end of a tempo spring is ground flat, the other end the coil just ends.Just line your chop saw so it grinds the edge of the end of the spring then cut the coil heres a quick drawing I made in paint. cut spring.bmp
  2. Uberoo

    I'm lifted!!!!

The last time I went to pull and save in spokane I grabbed some accord front springs from a car with a manual(not sure if it had AC-engine was gone) and I also got some front springs from a ford tempo. The accord springs were a direct swap in.They lifted the back end of my wagon about 1.5",even with a new EJ22 sitting back there. The tempo springs needed a coil cut off because they were a bit to long. However even with the coil being cut it lifted my wagon with an Ej22 in the front at least an inch. Now I have to finish the front left corner(I only have the FR strut in...) Pics should be up as soon as I have it all done...It looks big..
  3. After I cut a coil off the tempo springs they lifted my EJ swaped wagon atleast an inch. They are alot firmer.Just sitting it takes almost as much effort to push the front down as the back with accord springs. In fact they are stiff enough I dont believe a bumper and a winch would cause them to go down much.So if your EA82 is front heavy try a set of tempo front springs with a coil cut off(I used a chop saw) Now I just have to ovel out the strut mount holes to fix my camber...
  4. There is a rumor that ford tempo springs would lift an ea82 front end about 1.5" and give a better ride. This is completly false.uncompressed the springs are about 2.5" longer than the stock springs.Plus they have twice as many coils that are slightly thicker than stock springs.Besides, you would have NO downtravel at all, none. They possibly could work if you had an Ej22 plus 100lbs of front bumper. They could be cut to fit but I think I will just return them to get adjustable struts and RX springs. edit:Im gonna try cutting one coil off and see if that would make a differece
  5. And then just bend the braket back on place after all done?
  6. Is there a way to remove the front struts on my 1987 GL wagon 4wd WITHOUT loosing brake fluid or even opening the lines? Thanks.
  7. speaking of rust how come subaru's have built in rust trappers?A brats wheel wells get rusted out because water is allowed to collect behind them. Then I looked at the rear strut mounts for my EA82 wagon-water/dirt still has easy access behind the mounting points and it still is allowed to collect there. Was subaru tring to get them to rust to oblivion?
  8. hey scott why was your car smoking that bad in one of the videos?
  9. Im thinking of having the lights about where the front doors end.
  10. I think I will try to find an 85-86 4wd then,RX's are hard to find...Although if I could find a 85-86 4wd RX then I would be set.I could have a winch/bumper and not have sagging springs..
  11. When I get money and actually visit pull and save for 2wd rear stuts and a new motor.I will have a running subaru again. After that I want to install my lightbar on the roof because I actually do some night time wheeling.I plan to put 4 rectangular lights on the light bar.Im thinking 2 driving lights for the middle 2 lights and flood lamps for the side lights.Im thinking of angling them so there beam pattern just slightly overlaps the beams from the driving lights. Will that provide pretty good light on the trail?Any suggestions?
  12. I thought EA82 didn't get adjustable struts...But if they did get them where can I find some...
  13. plus the time and gas money to drive up there...wait what are you talking about?
  14. Do legacy DOjs fit on EA82 axles? If so us Ea82 guys would have stretchy axles just the EA81 guys with dual EA82 DOJs...Im thinking dual legacy DOJs on the rear...
  15. What are some springs that would fit on the front of an EA82 that would life the front end 1 1/2-2"?I could make spacers to space the bottom of the strut away from where it mounts to arm But this is something to be temporary...
  16. so 2wd rear struts and accord springs. That gonna be like 100 bucks the the junkyard around here charges for the complete strut. And Pull and Save is a mere 2 hours away...What do I do for the front?
  17. I want to lift my EA82 on the cheap so I can run slightly larger tires with better tread.Evently I plan to run a 6" lift and 31's but right now I need more agressive tires, like 26".I plan to lift the back end with accord front springs. But what can I do for the front short of creating spacers.looking more for springs to lift it.. Now for the axle end of the question. How do I go about making my stock rear axles have DOJs on both ends. Also Can I replace the inner DOJs on the front axles with the rear DOJs to help so Im not breaking axles with the front end suspension lift... Thanks in advance.
  18. speaking of saab seats. After the 16th when I time to work on my wagon I am gonna replace my front seats with saab seats for the 82 900 that I am running in the derby car...Right now though, all of my free time/monies goes to derby car...But they are VERY comfy and supportive and they are blue so they match my interior perfectly...
  19. Why you mutha ****** The tires you have on the front is the EXACT tire I have on all four corners of my roo.And its the same color too!!!WINTER SRX by uniroyal am I right?
  20. What about them neato 4x4 semis that have a full exoskeleten and do pretty good in baja...
  21. Im picking up a 1983 Toyota pickup with 4x4 and a 5 speed and the 22R motor for around 1600.plus it comes with a nice set of mud tires.I will post pics when its in my driveway.I have sell the sube and finish up my derby car before I can even start putting money into it.
  22. Im gonna put saab seats in mine.Just have to do a bit to existing seat mounting pads because it makes the saab seats sit to tall...Now I just have to get the demo derby out of the way then I can work on it...BTW Im demo derbing an 82 saab 900.MAY GOD HAVE MERCY ON THE COMPACTS' SOULS!!!!!
