    2" lift

run stock tires while on the street.Run 27X9.5X 15or 14 super swamper SSR's.The SSR's are radials.Super Swamper Radial.
  2. passenger cover off.the belt is still intact but it seemed loose(about 1/2" of play up and down)one thing I cant understand why everything under the hood seems to smell of burnt oil(rather strongly, too).
  3. never mind I just rotated the the trim piece and reconnected everything.
  4. started it.It has oil pressure. Not sure why it wasnt reading yesterday.the motor on the driver's side seems to want to try jumping out of the engine bay.If I open the oil fill cap while its running the idle doesnt change but a gargling sound comes from the tube.I dunno could the belt have skipped a tooth? If so should I get a new belt or... if it did jump that would explain the rough idle and down on power...
  5. the oil pressure was something like 5 psi at 4K rpm.so not good.the fan wasnt on when it was smoking(I wired the fan on accident so it blew through the radiator and the hot air landed on the grill,in any case it wasnt on) the jerking was more of a miss than anything(car be down on power, then 1/2 a second latter full power so car lurches forward a few MPH) also it had some issues starting(thought it might be due to heatsoak or something)also if its any help the engine only jerked/ran rough when the temp was 3/4 of the gauge and up.
  6. so if you offroad your subi you would probally want covers right?
  7. it got close to overheating but it never went into the red.It only got up about 1/16" of an inch from the red.so could it have over heated?the oil is not milky.the water in the radiator bubbles slightly but it only bubbles when the coolant level settles(read engine off and cold). I know the oil needs an oil change but it needed a change before the incident. car is a 1987 GL wagon carbie.1681XX miles.
  8. Im not entirely sure there is oil pressure.I dunno maybe the needle doesnt move lower than 5 psi.as for running conditions slight power drop, jerking(sometimes violently) poor idle quality, metal on metal sound sound for 1 second or so.the smoke smelt like burning oil with maybe a hint of electronic smoke.
  9. I was delivering pizza and was paying attention to the temp gauge because I accidentaly wired my fan in reverse so I kept it off until I could switch the wires around(fan didnt work period before so I had to do something to control heat) anyway about my 2nd drive of the night I noticed smoke coming from underneath the hood.I glanced at the gauges and lo and behold the oil pressure was reading about 5-7 psi(about a mm above 0 ).The car was driven about a mile like that(had to get it home to get a different car) First of all what went south? And if I replaced it, would the motor live long enough to be worthwhile? car was running fine before that with a slight jerking going on,also had a rough (bumpy ,felt like it had a big motor under the hood) idle.right thanks in advance
  10. I dont have alot of time right now so sorry if this has been asked before.the window on the left side rear door derailed off the track for the window winder. How do I remove the trim without breaking it.As far as I know I havent seen any bolts or fasteners.thanks in advance.

    CB advice?

why 18'? that seems way to long

    CB advice?

I have a 1987 GL wagon.I want to put a CB on it.I a 102" stainless steel whip and a a little uniden.I also have 6' of coaxial cable.Troble is I don't know where to munt the antenna or the CB itself.Im thinking of mounthing the CB either on the roof(some lights are right where I would want it positioned but I can do something about that) then another spot for the CB is the passenger side of the center console. the where to put the antenna? Im thinking the passenger side fender(about where the antenna on a brat is located.another possible spot is between the front seats on the roof.that one would be ideal but Id have to cut a slit in the headliner becuase the cable would protrude about 3" until it could loop back under the headliner.the final spot for the antenna would be toward the rear of the wagon, only thing is I would need a longer cable.so what do I do?
  13. Im sill clueless as to why you need a detector for a subi.for a saab on the other hand.Ive always gone 5 mph over the limit.I get screwed when im on the gas for a little to long. Both of the tickets ive gotten have been for over 12 mph above the limit and those were rare occurance that I speed that excessivly(first=1 am after a double shift, tired as hell so I wasnt paying attention.Next ticket,I passed a truck with a camper on that was going 15 up a 35 mph road with a passing lane,I got nailed as I come around a bend right before I even had a chance to slow down.(that one was a 49 in 35,but Im gonna fight it) Yea I suppose I could use a radar detector but I mostly do city driving and it would false alarm off so many security systems I would turn it off.and promtly get a ticket...although I will have to try hard with the 87' wagon I got to get a ticket.especially up hill.(the 49 in a 35 was going up a hill in the saab,in fact if I left it probally would have hit 70 before long) damn it,Im rambling again...
  14. WTH!!! after searching I found someone had a similar problem and solved it by pulling the marker light fuse.I tried it after pulling apart 1/2 of my interior. It works for some bizzare crazy reason.I put the fuse from the marker lights in the spot for tailights expecting it to blow.its still holding.just now my marker lights come on/off when ever my lights are on/off.Really weird...
  15. I got pulled over for no tailights either(not even a warning) so I check the fuse-blown.i tried another 15amp it blew on contact.i tried a 20 amp it blew on contact I put a 30 amp fuse in and it was okay till something started smoking 30 seconds latter...so What is the real issue.
  16. this may be a stupid question but the dash lights that illuminate the speedo/tach etc do not come on.Ive tried the brigntess switch but it doesnt turn them on.its kinda hard to drive at night with out seeing the vitals.so what can I do so I can see things?
  17. Installed it.It kicks rump roast!!! is there anyway I can fit 6 1/4" in the front doors?(I have a bunch of those around).also is there speaker wiring in the rear area(behind the rear doors?) I have some 6x9's that need a home.er maybe not 3(need another 5 1/4 or whatever the front is) to make four speakers, that many speakers in something as small as a subi is incredible. And I was sitting in the passenger seat(no speaker in right front door)...its great...
  18. Im done splicing all the wires together but I have three wires left from the old harness that pluged into the subi. Here goes:Orange-dash illumination,my reciever when it has power lights up so ok.Black-ground on the reciver harness(my reciver came out of a ford truck-my dad's) anyway black on the harness that came with my dad's CD player goes to a box that the yellow wire passes through.does it ground to inside the box?And finally- blue, blue is for a motorized antenna so I guess Im good. The only thing I have an issue with is the black.
  19. hook it up to exposed wires or what? edit:I do have a blaupunkt new orleans CD player...I suppose I couse splice the aftermarket harness...
  20. I just bough a 1987 subaru gl wagon.it has a clarion CD headunit,Everything appears to be wired correctly except the front right speaker on the front door is missing(non existant, wires exposed) anyway it looks to be a nice system with speakers in the rear doors aswell.the speakers are not oem.No matter how much I turn the volume up there is no sound.Nothing.So what could be causing this?
  21. I just picked up a 1987 Subary Gl wagon 4x4.its blue and in pretty good shape!the interior is nice, the radio doesnt seem to work but...ohwell.It has a 5 speed DR and a carbed EA82.the water pump was bad but I replaced it.the price? One non running subaru brat+$300.it only has 168,122 miles. but yea driving it,wagons are a state of mind.I need a wagonmafia sticker... tommarow I may get around to posting pics, although I have to wire the radiator fan to toggle switch.yaaa! its not entirely perfect it has some rust around the wellwells and thr front steel under the bumper looks like a stump was hit.and the windshield looks like a branch hit the passenger side...but seeing as Im going to offroad it...
  22. to get the subi muddy, gas her hard through the mud!!!
  23. I can get a 1985 subaru DL wagon for 5-750 bucks. The interiors ok,the body is ok.lowish miles-85,000.the only thing supposedly wrong is the front struts are bad,but I bounced the car up and down and the rebound rates dont seem bad.it has a EA82 carby I think. Its got a push button 5 speed 4wd. How hard is it to swap to a DR 5 speed when I get serious about lifting it? as for my brat,Im putting a for sale sign on it and parking it in an area with a lot of traffic.selling to highest buyer.I figure its probally for the best because I would be offroading it and the body may get destroyed.Plus the wagon is more practical-if I want to take a couple friends and go camping for instance.
