How would you build the perfect sleeper?
Uberoo replied to Jack in Norfolk's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
in 1989 and 1990 dodge put turboed four bangers in their minivans.they can make 300HP easily and just as easily run 12's in 1/4 mile now imagine a ozidized blue dodge minvan with fake wood trim and "soccer mom" stickers run a big exhaust but have it exit before the the rear axle then bolt a stock rusty exhaust so it is not connected to real exhaust but it is the part that shows under bumper. Then have the minivan on "winter" steel wheels. ULTIMATE SLEEPER end of story. -

so about hight for the front? -
I dunno on both of my vehicles I have never flat out maxed them.the saab(non turbo 5 speed) I had it going 115MPH then the sunroof lid flew off(did some interior work and forgot to install bolts for said part) the subie I will probally go as fas as the snow tires im putting on it are rated for(112mph) the snow tires im putting on my brat are rated faster than I think a Brat could go downhill with a 50 MPH tailwind. the snow tires are snow tires for my saab(rolling on H rated tires) and sense the saab lives in town and it rarely ever snows...

make a light bar for the very back of the brumbly cab just before camper. Voila space for more lights! -
how about the top speed of brats?Ive gone 70 in my brat on the very first day of ownership.I would have gone faster but it was night and the lights on 84 brats SUCK...Cant wait to see how fast it will go in the daytime.I wonder what the max speed for super swampers is considering I might go down that road

because we all like to go the JK and pull parts how would you feel if someone had pulled the engine from a subie and used a hammer to smash/break every other piece conected to the engine,ok but what happens when you need one of those smashed parts? As for the 900IC take the time to take it apart properly or don't take it apart at all.If memory serves there are some desired parts in that area.the plastic you refer to is the IC air duct, last time I say one on ebay it went for $25. also the intercooler you want comes from a 16Valve turbo.8V's normally dont have intercoolers.

um could anyone show pics of the engine carpartment with all the hoses/componets I can remove.I pulled the carb thinking everything was stiff enough that it would be where it needed to be when I got it back together.I thought it would take an hour or two to find the problems I had been having and get it fixed.now that Im on day 4...BTW how do I get rid of the butterfly valve in the air cleaner inlet?I can't quite aford a weber right now so I ahve to make due with airbox.I removed the EGR and now the butterfly hang limp.Im worried about it closing when I step on the gas.Or should I glue it in the open position

I have an 1800 carbed manual tranny.I dont need to worry about vacuum lines for tranny shifting Id like to know now because I have the carb off right now and would rather not have to deal with those hoses anymore...

BYB makes EA81 and EA82 lifts when I get a job im going with a BYB 4"/3" lift for my 1984 brat.
-
what are some hoses I can get away with eliminating all together and still have engine run.my 84 brat 1800 is mostly for trail riding and we don't have emmision testing.so what are the hoses/components that I can elinate and plug up the holes? My 1990 saab fuel injected monster has far less hoses and vacuum lines under the hood, what gives.I thought a carbed four banger would have maybe two-3 vacuum hoes and related stuff. My dad's twin 454 chevy(carbed) has about 5 vacuum hoses(both) wearas subie as 5 billion and counting?

the gasket beteween the two halves of the carb is giving me issues. The only way I can get it is if I get a $30-50 carb rebuild kit.for a $2 ghod damnr gasket...If I went with a weber would parts be more availble?does a weber 32/36 bolt up to the intake? -
damn that sucks.hows govy this time of year?
-
zefty are you talking about a dry-sump oiling system?if done right the only thing on the bottom of the engine would be a flat panel to seal in oil.I dont quite remember the specifics on dry sumps but google is your friend.

well, since this got moved to meet-greet lets see if we can get some subes from spokane or any of the surounding areas to come by.it would blow the socks of the toyotas and chevys.haha

the rad cap is rated for .9bar so a little less than 14 PSI -
The mud drags in lewiston are toward the end of june.there are two classes Four and sixes(powerful fourbangers or underpowered sixes) then theres the V8 class(big blocks and diesels).Anyway assuming I can find a job that pays a little more than minimun wage(idaho is 5.15/hr, ecept I can weld, machine things, etc but no degree!) assuming I found a job that pays about 600 a month could I build the sube(lift, super swampers, weber carb, snorkel) by then?It might not win but it will show what subes can do(all hail teh super swampers) so anyway could it be done assuming I still need to save for gas and insurance(438 every six months got six months to go) living at my parents house...Can it be done?I already have some steel 15X7 wheels:banana:

As of now Ive taken the carb off,the gasket between the body of the carb and the secondary jets was rotted out like all hell and the gasket from intake to carb assembly was rusted big time near the coolant hole.I was thinking I should buy those gaskets and put it together to try it out,but Im wondering if I should dig deeper and check the intake gaskets?or should I just drian the fluid and make it as light as possible so I can pull the engine and check the headgasket.Does rust near coolant holes equal headgasket removal? -
um,I may be the first(and only "no" man) but I actually like it with the four lights. The four lights because they are angular they seem to just stare you down, Or want to smash you with the built bumper. The round lights look "odd" they give the sube a look that all it really can do is say "hi". personally Ive always prefered boxy cars (tesserosa>F50 in my book, despite the testorossa wouldnt hold a candle to the F50). I will say this: I may not argree with how it looks but I respect you for the work, planning, and vision it took to make your version of "best sube".

you?hehe not to be rude but I can make my own sideplate.BTW how did you guys (AA) fit that snorkel to the wagon?would the snorkel work on EA81 BRAT or should I make on out of PVC?
