  1. They could go in the struts, but it is alot of work to take apart struts though.
  2. I measured the roofs on what I have and damned if I know but both roofs are pretty much 45" from drip rail to drip rail.It would be very doable to put the t tps in and use the factory headliner+ trim from the gen 2.
  3. a gen 1 is narrower than a gen 2 brat by a good couple of inches.Im putting EA81(gen 2) suspension under my gen 1 and the gen 2 suspension sticks about 1/2" out of the fenders with stock wheels, that same suspension under a gen 2 sits the stock wheels inside the fenders by about an inch and a half.So you wouldnt be able to use gen 2 T tops. You might me able to fab in the gen 2 sun/moonroof though. However,I happen to have a gen 1 and gen 2 roof I could measure, once this torrential down pour stops. according to wikipedia a gen 1 is 59.1" wide and a gen 2 is 63.8".
  4. To be fair brian if you search for hockey puck you come up with 23 threads, including this one.Not a one says what he is asking.TO the OP. You can lift via hockey puck, but why when you can make some blocks out of steel that have built in camber correction, with no correction you end up with alot of positive camber.Other than that the usual rules of suspension lifting these cars comes into play-more strain/wear and tear on the axles and balljoints,etc..
  5. Does anyone have any pics of EA81 rear suspension under a EA71 vehicle? It looks like I need more lift in the rear with the suspension cranked up to avoid cutting the crossmember for clearance for the EA81 adjuster bolt.
  6. zero aftermarket support for any subaru other than imprezas,so everything must be fabbed or adapted to fit.
  7. http://stayontrails.com/where-to-ride/ Thats a listing of trails in idaho. Most are ATV/UTV trails, but a subaru isn't much bigger than A UTV so it would probally fit but contact people who manage the trails before you go down one of them to see if there is a max width for the trail.
  8. If you were abit more built there is always craters of the moon national park just south of you.Or Moab.
  9. So I have the rear suspension mocked up under the brat.Theres a couple areas that need clearanced but other than that not to bad.On the gen 1 brat there is a box/platform where the inner suspension pivot points mounted, does that have bolts holding it on or is the blue wrench needed to remove it?same with the studs for the front diff mount?Sorry about no pics im using an old laptop and its having problems just typing.
  10. 2013 SUCKED,I am hoping 2014 is better.
  11. I dunno im scared of going that way,I went up to evans creek and on the way back my hatch(in my sig) fell off my trailer and died an untimely death, then I drove up and borrowed a rig to go wheeling and got a speeding ticket. Then I went and got my brat and the transmission in my dodge ate itself on the way back home...
  12. I was hearing that it was either 3.7 or 3.9,Mine doesn't have a tag which is why I was asking.
  13. If I could get my stuff together before then I would love to go,But as it stands my brat isn't even a rolling chassis yet.Just setting the rear suspension under it.
  14. You might want a dual range transmission first, if you don't already have one.Spinning bigger tires with a Ea71 offroad sounds like death for your clutch.
  15. I'v been hearing conflicting data about the rear diff ratio on a Gen 1 brat.So short and sweet what is the rear diff ratio under a gen 1 brat with the EA71 and top mount starter FWD-4wd transmission?
  16. Just for S&G try a BR6ES, A BPR6ES projects farther into the combustion chamber,And might have more resistance than the ignition system likes causing your arching. An EJ on the hand takes a projection plug to reach the combustion chamber.
  17. Have you lost drag races to crack heads on 10 speed bikes yet? actually how about a normal person on a 10 speed bike,a crack head on a bike would be pretty fast. Check you plugs and ignition system to see if your reliably hitting on all four cylinders.I had an Ea81 with crappy plug wires and it liked to run on 2.5 out its 4 cylinders, replacing the plug wires made it seem like I added a supercharger.
  18. you would be shocked and awed in wonder at some of the creations that roam the roads around here. Some of the regulations don't make much sense- for instance windshield wipers are required but a windshield is not.Interesting stuff like that. Think of some of the vehicles from Mad Max.In the states or at least the ones ive been in you could legally drive those vehicles on the street assuming you kept the VIN off the vehicle it was based on.
  19. yes oil pan skid is an absolute MUST especially for something close to stock height. Its also highly recommended for taller subarus because it smooths out the leading edge of of the crossmembers. If your in rocks like gloyale a gas tank skid would also be nice.
  20. put bigger tires on and see where it needs to be trimmed then go from there.Any attempt to modify the fenders beforehand will result in failure.Either too much or not enough removed.Once the tires clear at ride hight cycle the suspension and trim as needed.
  21. Do any front end parts swap over or interchange from late Ea71 vehicles to Ea81 vehicles?I just got a EA81 front clip and its complete except for a tie rod and a CV axle. However the suspension on the 78 brat is complete and it would be a shame to remove it without salvaging what I can get. I am swapping Ea81 suspension to remove a few interferences between the DR5speed and the steering. Not to mention power steering.
  22. when they do break you can always fill the motor mounts with urathane window weld to fix them and stiffen them up.
  23. I have torch and welder, I can make anything fit.the framerails need to be notched thats all.
