Crazy thoughts about a Dolphin and an SVX...

I must not wheel my subaru hard enough. My skidplate is 1/8" aluminum with an 1/8" thick bedliner coating of some sort.Despite landing on a rock after sliding down a 4 ft ledge the skidplate is still straight...Maybe the coating dissipates some of the impact? the bottom of the skidplate under the crossmember is tweaked though...

I like the orange one the best.

Ive been looking up Drift union's 93 legacy and he is running the stock transmission in a RWD drift setup with a JDM 2.0T.He hasn't blown it yet but out back the R160 and the axles get eaten for lunch.I wonder if that's why the transmission hasn't blown yet..
-
its just a gs,but its in good enough shape to justify an engine swap. I don't know if it will get wheel/axle hop.I'm not really into the drag scene mostly just rally and the occasional drift around various corners in town..

I have an 84 RX7 I just picked up.Its in good condition body wise and the interior is great, but I can't get it to run right. After rebuilding the carb, tweaking the idle/mixture screws, going for test drives and getting pulled over because the stupidly loud exhaust,I finally decided to pull the plugs and crank her over. Pst Pst Pst from the first rotor and SILENCE from the second rotor. So the rear apex seals are shot.More or less in a nutshell $1000 to fix an engine that is way to loud and drinks way to much fuel for the amount of power it produces. After seeing mellow65's EJ22 RX7 I got some inspiration. Unfortunately I don't have the serious coin for a toyota W series adapter so I was thinking of running a 89-94 legacy 5 speed with the front diff pulled and the center diff spooled.I was just kinda curious how long it would last being rwd in a 2300lb car being driven the way all rwd's should be..Engine would be a stock phase 1 ej22.

So when do we get to see it offroad rather than poser shots?Surely you must be able afford a camera to document your exploits, right?

maybe run less nitrous and more turbo boost?

Subaru rear drive whats the strongest parts?

I haven't had any problems yet with my legacy axles yet. -
I need to redo my snorkel setup under the hood.Apparently that pice of vinyl tube between my airbox and intake tube couldn't take the heat from my exhaust being 8" below it and melted.I went through a mud hole and the car started running poorly.Turns out a hole formed in the vinyl tube and it sucked mud right into my MAF and the engine. The engine seems fine but the MAF might be toast. The element was covered in mud.I washed it out and let it dry so I will re install it and see if it works. In the meantime however I need something flexible and 3" to go between the airbox and the intake tube, some that can withstand 100-200 degrees.Any suggestions?

so wire them both to the computer controlled fuel pump relay, but the first time unplug the high pressure pump until fuel flows from the surge tank into the main tank from the return. I can do that.

I'm not sure where I should put this so mods feel free to move it where-ever you feel is most appropriate. I'm planning on adding a surge tank to my 81 hatchback with a ej22 and I got a question on wiring it. Currently my fuel pump is ran by the computer.I was just wondering if it would be possible to send power to the low pressure pump for a second or so to fill the surge tank than turn on both pumps then start the car. What I am thinking of is something that gets voltage when the fuel pump wire from the computer is hot sends power to the low pressure pump for a second then sends power to both fuel pumps. Is that something easily done or should I run the low pressure pump by a momentary switch and the fuel pump wire from the computer?Press the button then crank it over.It would be really great if it happened automatically but I suppose I could remember to push a button then start the car if it would be too much work. thanks in advance

ej22 wont rev

turns out the fuel pump was dieing.it wasn't supplying enough pressure to feed all the injectors at anything above idle.So I swapped in a in line fuel pump off a ford F150 because it was only $80.Then my return line blew off as I was staging and I ran outta gas just as I was about to run.5 gallons got me about 30 feet...when I went to go home I put 5 bucks in and that was enough to keep it running but not enough to completely submerge the pickup so I idled the couple miles home in the highest gear it would push the car.. -

that injector is firing now. how do i check the codes for a 91 legacy? -
I have a 91 ej22 in my ea81 offroader. It has 150K miles on it and it WAS running beautifully. I went offroading yesterday and that all changed.Right now it will idle perfectly but it wont rev.If I try to rev it, it just bogs and misses to oblivion. The timing is dead on,all of the spark plugs are firing ,same with the fuel injectors. If I unplug a spark plug wire or injector connector the engine runs even worse so all good there.I didn't see any vacuum leaks and I am pretty sure the engine didn't suck water.I have a snorkel and it is dry as a bone in there.I cleaned and dried every connector I could find on the engine and still no change.same with grounds.O2 sensor is hooked up. any idea whats up?all this happened after I hit a water hole a bit fast and made water splash everywhere.Yesterday when it first happened I noticed that I could pull the connector for #2 injector with no change, while at the same time it seemed as though everything was intermittently working again.Sometimes it had full power and would rev like it was supposed to then a minute later it would bog and misfire itself to almost stalling. please help I need this up and running by tomorrow for a local mud bog.

seeing as this is a subaru forum and the thread is titled "EJ22 Snorkel Setup" I will post mine. I shortened the EJ22 air intake tube alot, which involved relocating the hose connections. From their it passes through a bunch of heavy duty 3" RV sewer drain hookup. The airbox comes from a 2.2L mazda diesel. After that I cut a hole in the inner support and ran the sewer hookup through it to where it comes through the fender by the windshield. Then finally it goes into 3" schedule 20 PVC for the actual snorkel. The entire snorkel fits inside the body lines so it wont get knocked off. There is alittle bit of window screen mesh covering the inlet of the snorkel to prevent large particles from entering. The Inlet is turned so mud and debris doesn't get rammed in. total cost: $30

looks like I'm out.The tires on my truck are dangerously bald so I ordered new ones they were supposed to be here by this morning but they are not here yet.So I will have to catch up with everyone some other time.I hope everybody has fun.

Just a quick question here. Were all the torsion tubes on EA81's the same as far as strength goes?I have a torsion tube from an 84 wagon on my 81 hatch and its a bit too stiff.Would a hatch torsion tube be softer than a wagon torsion tube? Also My hatch was originally a FWD and I remember its rear suspension wasn't nearly as stiff.Could FWD torsion bars work in the 4wd torsion tube housing?

ea81 based vehicle EA82 front suspension EA82 dual range EJ22 the ea81 is narrow and lightest of all them, Ea82 front suspension for travel EA82 dual range because the 5 speed DR is much better than the 4 speed DR EJ22 for more POWA!!!
