the belts do a pretty good job of flinging mud/water as well..

most people around here consider cut fenders to be custom.Extra spiffy if you use garden edging for fender flares...

Why was the SVX only offered with an automatic?Theres a real nice one for sale locally but the automatic voids my "you can't pay me enough to drive an automatic" statement. The SVX is a cool car,but I could never own one because it has a automatic. Although how hard would it be to swap in some manual transmission? Are there trim pieces from other subaru's that would fit?Same with clutch components? Although right now it would be really hard to justify a buying a $3900 car, then ripping its transmission out...

Im just glad most of the wheeling IS uphill. If I can make it up I definatly can make it out.except when I break...

two questions The guy drifting the light grey wagon. How did that end? Why was the bus crossing the river? -
What kind of gas milage do you get?

93 legacy L -was getting 25, now its getting 22-23 with winter here and studded snow tires.I don't thrash it all the time,But is no stranger to full on rallying on the road either.Oddly enough it seems to burn less gas when I am rallying if I wrap 2nd out to redline before thinking of shifting to third, rather than shifting into 3rd at 4000...odd 83 Gl wagon- lifted,235's,roof lights, messed up ************achi carb. 15 MPG -

I love the rally van... "Can you prove that it was me?" -
Im sorry my questions come off like that.I just like to weigh all my options before I do anything.I don't have alot of money to play with so I would rather not waste it.Like a $150 driveshaft that I just had made that I can't use because the parts rig and my rig use a different pinion flange. So back to the driveline shop to get that fixed. The reason I ask so many damned questions is I don't have the money to try something then rip it out cause I don't like it.You've all gone and convinced me go ahead and put a damn 5 speed in the rig.Thinking of putting an EJ in aswell it just takes money to buy a parts car.I got burned before with junkyard engines, I wanna hear it run before I rip it out by its roots and shove it into a different car.So right now I am thinking put an EJ in and see how I like it.If a such time I decide I want to go bigger, than I will put a transfer case in the damn thing.
-
I donno about cost.I more or less have all the parts needed.I probally would grab the nissan transfercase for 10 bucks or so from my friend..Then its just the steel...Then again I am not sure if I really need it.The only thing my subaru seems to lack is power with a EA81 and 235's.An Ej would be more than plently. On the other hand, having a subaru with the gearing to comfortably turn 33" tires would be pretty awesome.A buddy in a ranger on 36"s can put it in low range and still crawl up things.Where the subaru is going about 5-10 mph at idle in low... however I am in the same boat as far as buying roonators rig..

So after having a few beers with a buddy of mine I realized that I have a parts subaru, and that another friend has an over abundance of nissan 4x4's sitting in a field. So Putting 2+2 together and coming up with 5. I thought why not lift my subaru 10 inches, and install a T case then run 33" tires. How much steel am I going to need to do this? How much is the steel gonna cost?Is it worth it? I know it would keep water from soaking my pants... Also how would I make the strut extensions? Anyone have pics of the strut extensions, subframe, etc?How much did you spend on your conversion?Once again is it worth it?

When you go that tall how do you work around the spring perches?
-
Whats with the rachet straps?I also think they missed a serious opportunity to show off there new turbo diesel. but as it stands, i would give about anything to own one.

If anyone cares I found a video of Moyie springs. I am in it at about 2.55. In the video it shows me getting a "push" from that v8 toyota. It didn't show it but after the push I made it out just fine.Although I definatly need an EJ. Anyone want to buy a nice running EA81 with bad carb?It has great oil pressure... Any way here is the video. It would have been better if I just stormed though it like I did every other pass.Figures, every time it gets videoed I do poorly...

Awesome lego.Is it just me or do the later gens not look nearly as massive as when an older subaru is rolling on the bigger tires? I have an 83 GL with a 2" lift rolling on 235/75/15's and it looks massive heres a pic of my current daily driver parked behind the lifted one to get an idea. heres another pic of the lifted subaru after playing last time Don't get me wrong. Your lego looks awesome. Its just with those tires it looks like the hieght that subaru should have made them in the first place. Or maybe it is just me.

Even better, I have some video,But I can't seem to upload it. Edit: I have the black plastic trash bag seat covers,But mine ripped.I wonder if the expensive trash bags would be better?Mine weren't the heavy duty ones...

I dont like getting swamped, and the interior getting becomeing under water.I especially don't like trying to fish for a hook when the car is underwater(which is why I run a 10 ft cable from a hook on the car to top of the light bar.Just unhook from the lightbar and viola-instant recovery point without triing to find hook in the water) So Yea I don't like getting swamped, but when you drive in the ruts made by big trucks and the rain fills them up...A lifted subaru is pretty big for a car, but it is still very small compared to a regular lifted fullsize.. and fixing the axle/transmission is my number one objective to do before I can go play again.Right now I am attempting to fix my mazda diesel pickup's leaking rear main, leaking transmission output seal, busted carrier bearing, and no 4th.Right no I have most of those fixed but I am waiting on a driveshaft and the transmission output seal. When the carrier bearing failed, it caused to driveshaft to wobble around.Destroying the input yoke as well as bushing in the tailshaft section of the transmission.Fixed the bushing, but I decided that a new one piece driveshaft was my best bet.It would have been about the same price to replace the carrier bearing and the input yoke.. God I want this truck to be done so I can fix my soob to go play!

a seat cover isnt gonna do squat when water is up to where I sit on the seat.I can go play and it is fairly common to have water up to my belt if I am stuck in a deep hole. I dunno maybe some marine grade seats or something.

I would be kinda fun to enter it but I am too poor for the safety equipment. I wonder how a datsun B210 coupe would do?....

Does anyone have any experiance using those plastic bucket seats?Im am thinking of getting a set for my offroad toy, Because it seems like just about everytime I go and play in it water comes inside and soaks the seats. So with the mud, water, etc those seats gets pretty slimy and disgusting.Latly I have been just putting towels on the seats so I don't have to sit in the muck. Then the seats get wet again and I get to sit in a wet seat for the remainder of the trip.. So I was kinda thinking plastic seats to get rid of the whole problem with cloth seats and mud. Then go and make some drain holes. I dunno what do you all think?Anyone ever ran the plastic seats?Anyone know where I might be able to find a set cheap.Ive tried the local parts stores and there prices are about 60-80 bucks a seat. Thanks in advance.

Eventually I plan to put an EJ the car.So would I prefer that some of the mods mesh well with each other. So I was thinking of useing the EA82 clutch/PP/disk and flywheel. However I have found out that the bolt holes on the EA82 flywheel are slightly larger than the bolts for the EA81.What can be done there to make sure they are tight?

On an old saab I had, there was a sticker on the inner fender well that said if the battery was hooked up wrong the alternator could be destroyed. So the alternator might be a good thing to check out.
