  1. A two inch lift can be made for about $20. then you can fit whatever tires that you want, providing that you cut/smash everything out of the way to get them to fit. 27's will fit a minimum of cutting.
  2. The lock out feature must of got tripped somehow.opened the trunk by crawling inside it,then moved the lock out to where it was supposed to be. so its supposed to keep people from getting in the trunk if they are already in the car?Doesn't really do a whole lotta good if the rear seat flips forward to allow access to the trunk...
  3. The trunk on my 93 legacy sedan won't open anymore. The latch makes a small clicking noise but it wont open the trunk.I can crawl through the back to open it manually.Im guessing the cable has stretched somewhat. Is there an adjustment somewhere to tighten the cable back up?If not how can I fix my trunk?
  4. Hopefully in a couple of weeks I will be able to go up to pull and save and pickup parts for a 5 speed swap. From what I understand I will need: 5 speed DR transmission 5 speed linkages two piece driveshaft with carrier bearing EA82 flywheel EA82 clutch/PP Then for the install I just need to bash the tunnel(where?) and install the carrier bearing. Anyone have any pics of where to bash the tunnel for clearance? Also is there anything else I missed?
  5. seconded. I love the black steelies.Bonus points if you can find 18" BLACK STEELIES to stuff under there. try hitting up stock wheel for some or maybe some 18" ralle rims, black of course, except the trim rings.
  6. they want 4500 just for a book on how to make the billet monstrosity.
  7. what about a stepside bed?and maybe something covering the front wheels-prowler style-mounted to the suspension. and ditch the front fenders.just run a hood, or a couple of bars holding the radiator in.. still though its pretty cool.
  8. A subaru that doesn't leak oil doesn't run. With that being said I don't think I could ever have a clean engine. At least not for very long.Course it doesnt help when my offroad toy doesn't have a hood, and my DD spends alot of time on dirt roads...
  9. gotta protect us all, even the stupidest of us.
  10. If it weren't so damned far away I would love to go play with ya.
  11. can someone please explain to me why they close the gates in the winter? Are snowmobiles just supposed to have all the fun in winter, and we are told to "f off".I dunno I don't get it.
  12. Now that I think about a chain drive hub setup wouldnt be too hard to redneck fab up.If you took the splined part of a subaru hub and welded/bolted it to a small sprocket. Then you could weld a large sproket to a outer CV stub.use a chain to connect the two. Then mount the whole thing to your hub in some way. After that you just space down the hub the length you made the reduction unit. Then you just slip your existing axle into the splined top part of the gear reduction unit. there ya go, more clearance and better gearing!
  13. Ive played around with long travel struff before.Ive found that for the rear if you extended the track width by about 3 inches, you could have a full 11" of travel on stock CVs in the the rear.Course the axle itself would need to be extended or a slip yoke of some kind welded in. Then you could use 930 CV's for the front. If I recall I designed it to be set up for a 4" suspension lift with wider track. Don't quote me on that though,I drew it up some time ago in a cad program, but I have sense lost the file to be exact on the numbers. It may have been 3" per side though...
  14. was there a hill or something that evrybody stuffed their LF bumper into?
  15. to the OP with that amount of lift why not install a divorce transfer case? get another engine crossmember,Set the engine/transmission in the stock location. Build subframe to mount transfercase. Then install a rear diff up front to drive the wheels. Then you have to figure out 3 driveshafts.rear, front, stubby(transmission to transfer case) benfits to this: actually have the gearing to turn the tires, and have a decent low range.Rather than slipping the clutch everywhere to get going, and having a underpowered slug of a car... divorced transfer cases can be found in nissan/datsun 720's, suzuki samurai's,etc... not sure if you even get those sort of rigs down there... also what size tires are those?
  16. How much lift do you want?
  17. that was a sweet brat. What was powering it?
  18. To the owner of the blue hatch: How did you run your snorkel setup?Do you have any pictures under the hood? also scott when you dovenosed the front of your wagon, what did you do with the inner sheetmetal? Was it more to see in front of the tires or more to avoid smashing your lights?
  19. Why do you need snow or mud to drag a hood behind a car?Just use the probally existing tall grass a helmet?I suppose... or you can run without one just have a long tow rope and dont fall off... Whats this foam or carpet I hear about?
  20. when do we see some pics/video of it drifting? It can be done on asphalt, wet pavement, or gravel.
  21. have a backhoe or skidsteer?if not rent one for a day or so...
