So I picked up a 1982 Mazda pick-up...
Uberoo replied to The Beast I Drive's topic in Non Soob Cars and Bikes Discussion
If the front wheel bearings are any good on the mazda can you put them in an envelop and mail them this way?The ones on my 83 are shot, and Im too poor to afford 40 bucks in wheel bearings, especially after changing the rear main and transmission output shaft... -
I went out to go start my 93 subaru legacy to go home after college. The dash lights were dim. I turn the key and get nothing.I check the battery and its connections, seemed good and tight. I tried one of the windows and it rolled down like it had like 4volts to it.After fidling around for a while, it cranks just as strong as ever and fires up. Also everytime I tried to start it and there was nothing the tach would jump around. Any idea what the hell was wrong with it?I mean I could have been trying to get a girl in the sack and the car doesnt work, that wouldnt get me anywhere...um, if it did start then once we got somewhere secluded it could break down...But not at the college...

I like rwd not for the speed but for the fun...

they are actaully very bright yellow, pretty close to white when you are actually looking at them in real life. I am not sure what kinda of lights they are.I got all four of them of a nissan at pull and save(I wanted its 33's but those might be a bit big on a subaru ) I do however know that the two outer lights have a clear lense with no ribbing, and the two inners have clear lenses with ribbing. So I am guessing that the outers are driving lamps and the inners are flood lights or fog lamps?I dunno.. as for the stock high beam , um I was fitting a legacy radiator to the beast and that light didn't want to cooperate. So I ripped it out of the car and threw it in the dirt.It didnt survive....I will probally get another eventually..

put an add on craigslist for people to wheel with.Visit your local 4x4 store, etc. find someone to wheel with. I got stuck once and had to stay out there till about 3 in the morning. It sucked.especially because I had homework to do and class was at 7:30 the next day. it was last august(08) so it was still warm and it wasnt to bad.If its the winter though getting stuck and not having someone to pull you out could mean life or death. seriously. As for liking the area, its great. there are nearby mountains, plenty of fishing, climate is "ok".kinda wierd though, triple digit temps in the summer(moscow is 10-20* cooler than lewiston, because lewiston is in a "bowl") then negative temps in the winter. Moscow gets alot of snow in the winter,In lewiston its a pretty safe bet to run just all seasons year round.Moscow snow tires of some sort are manditory. If I had money I would move to moscow because I love SNOW!!!I love driving it,love drifting in it,etc...If however snow is not your fortay, lewiston gets maybe 4" of snow a year. don't really know much more to talk about right now...

Ive always liked a welded rear diff and mud tires. Also having a another vehicle with you to pull you out is the best.Or a winch...

well,I was gonna take some pics of the lights lighting up the whole street, but my camera has other plans. The battery is dead on the camera so I will get that charged and can hopefully take pics tommarow.

one of these is not like the others.

I have done a 2.2 swap.just not on this car. Maybe I will also get around to installing my CB radio as well...I wonder if my antenna will be to tall, roof mounted 102" whip
-
I just got done installing 4 lights to the roof of my ea81 toy.well,um the lights are there, wiring is a whole 'nother story.Best part is I got the lights at pull and save for $10 for all four.Normally they retail at $40 each I will get some pics tommarow after they are powered by a switched relay...I would do them today but I have some homework that must get done before midnight tonight...

for that sort of coin I would run a regular cone filter at the end of the snorkel.Just figure out some way to fasten a coffee can to it so the filter doesnt get caked in mud...

the motor does spin like it has no compression. Im thinking the rings are stuck to the pistons and not fully sealing against the walls. Valves mabye but when I turn the engine over by hand I dont hear any air escaping out the intake or exhaust manifold.
-
I just changed the headgaskets and replaced all the coolant hoses on an EA81 engine that was sitting in a parts car.It seems that the piston rings are sticking because it sat for so long.Anybody know of a way to get the rings to unstick themselves. The engine only runs as long as I spray either down the carb...I dont want to tear the engine down..

If anyone lives near lewiston and would like to help me clean up the trash out of waha you are welcome to help.I will be heading up tommarow. Meet up at the Zip Trip in the lewiston Orchards around 12:30 if you can.Last time I went up there and cleaned up I paid for fuel plus 20 bucks with all the scrap I pulled out of the area.

looks like fun.One eye- can you even open the passenger side doors?

I was kinda thinking it would be cool to put geared VW hubs on a subaru.Have the stock subaru axles feeding the gear reduction hubs. You would get massive ground clearance and have the gearing to turn bigger tires.I can figure out the rear, but does anyone have a clue of how to rig up something for the front? heck a 1.6VW can spin 33's with those geared hubs, why not 33's to 35's with a EA or an EJ? wouldnt that be awesome, an EA81 wagon on 35's and actually have the gearing to turn the tires but not stress the axles any more...
-
rumor has it that an airbox from a 80's mercury lynx with the 1.6(I think) will fit the weber...
-
that will work fine.

What cools better an ea81 two core radiator or a single core legacy radiator?

EA81 head tightening sequence?
Uberoo replied to Uberoo's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
thank you. -
Its been a while since Ive changed the headgaskets on a EA81.Ive forgotten for the tightening sequence is.Just got a new motor that im changine the headgaskets out as a precaustion because I have no idea why the motor was just sitting in a parts car i bought. I tried searching but after an hour I havent found anything.Thanks. soon my EA81 offroad toy will run again! Then I will swap in SPFI...But first need to get it put back together and running right...

so it takes 6" of lift to clear 225's on an EA82 wagon?I fit 235's to my EA81 wagon with only a two inch lift and bashing the rear fenders out...
