So I'm driving around town to pick up some packages and realize that there seems to be some oil burning. This haas been a minor problem for awhile due to a leak which drips on to the exhaust manifold, I usually don't think much of it. Then I noticed that my heat went out. The temp gauge is topped out and the smoke keeps coming. Soon i notice my oil flash a bit. It rarely if ever has done this. I stopped to put oil and and noticed that it seemed to be dripping out at a steady rate. i also added coolant since the reservoir seemed low. Now when i park my car as I get home I stalled it twice parallel parking and the second time I started it I had the most trouble getting it to turn I;ve ever had with this car. Thoughts... suggestions? Am I in big trouble. It is a manual transmission.

So I had my clutch replaced about two weeks ago this friday. It woerks fine but I notice a sort of whirring or whistling sound. It is not always present and when it is if I press on the clutch just a bit the sound is gone. I've spoken with the guy who did and he said he could help but didn't seem to think it was a concern. Shuold I be worried about future complications with this?

Yes it was some pretty bad spelling. I had it done by an independent fellow. I just realized that even a bit of pressure on the clutch pedal will cause the sound. I think I'll survive. thank for the tips. oh and my car didn't come with a manual. I drive a 98 legacy l seres wagon. no idea on the size of the tires.

I just had my clutch replaced and am curious of what a good ratio for the speedometer to the tachmometer should be. I wonder if I am losing MPG this way. Currently when I am at about 70 mph my rpms are about 3K. is that rights? Also there is a bit of a chirp or ringing sound coming from ny new clutch is that common?

a few more diagnostic questions....? If when I down shift the car clearly seizes might that be an indication of low clutch fluid? also what I've identified as the clutch cylinder does not appear to be a screw off cap. it has two or three hoses going into it. should that be the case? also I have not noticed any sort of smell. I can be in fifth gear at about 60 mph with a bit of acceleration and no changing gears I still get revving. <<just an observation.

where is the clutch cylinder? I just went to check. I have found the brake fluid reservoir. There is s small black cylinder between the brake fluid reservoir and the windshield washer fluid reservoir. however I don't know how to get it open. does the car have to be warm in order to accurately check it?
