  1. my question is... can you add strut extensions to the bottom of the struts to get more lift instead of the top? as my car sits right now, my 27" tires are pretty damn close to rubbing the bottom spring perch. i don't really care to go with an offset to gain the clearance as it'd just be rubbing the fender instead and probably wear out the wheel bearings. if not, what are you guys doing to gain more clearance for larger tires?
  2. psst... you're driving from the wrong side of the car! nice vid. nice rides as well. i like the brat.
  3. vids from this weekend are up on page 3 of pimptiva if you're interested in checking them out.
  4. switch is on the to-do list. my question still remains though... is it one wheel total or one wheel front and one wheel back as it would be on a 4x4 with open diffs? i was under the impression that it was one wheel front and one wheel back that would spin... it seems you guys are saying one wheel total though... subie94... the 5spds are in 50/50 all the time from what i understand. the 4eat runs 90/10 until slippage is detected... as for the pic, my friend literally could get the car teeter-tottering back and forth between the front and rear wheel as the front was pretty light on the opposite corner. it was crazy.
  5. the car was in 1st though so it should have been locked in 50/50. my understanding was that an open rear diff would let the power follow the path of least resistance (aka the wheel in the loose dirt) i was under the impression though that it wouldn't all go to one tire. in a 4x4 truck, you'd have one wheel front and one wheel back spinning. is the awd gonna work differently? as for the CB, just got it installed this past weekend (the night before the trip actually) still need to work on getting my swr's down in the upper channels but it works ok 1-20 for now.
  6. in the first vid, the passenger front was in the air and the driver's rear got light on loose dirt. tires are general grabber at2's
  7. here's a link to some pics from saturday. http://pimptiva.com/wp-gallery2.php?g2_view=core.ShowItem&g2_itemId=1402 vids should be up soon!
  8. it's already lifted on outback struts and springs with 215/65/16 tires... it has 10" of diff. clearance. it's not like i'm offroading a completely stock L wagon. the exhaust and bumpers are on the list to be changed. this car isn't my priority right now though. as for breaking stuff... it only gives me a reason to upgrade...
  9. i was under the impression that the duty c switch just locks it in 50/50 which 1 does as well... am i wrong? went out wheelin' today with my buddy in his yj. actually showed him up a bit. should have some vids and pics as soon as he gets them hosted. car was SOOOO dirty. it was awesome. i realized though that i either need more lift or some rocker guards cuz i was close to high centering a few times.
  10. working on it... i'd also like to pickup the AA lift and do a d/r swap it needs some maintenance work first though.
  11. i'm actually gonna try to fab up some tube bumpers for the car and i had plans of running the exhaust out the side of the back (possibly between to tubes of the bumpers for added protection) it's not high on the list of stuff to do right now though.
  12. it has an aftermarket muffler on it that the previous owner had on it... is that what you are referring to?
  13. no skid plates and bad approach/departure angles make me a little uneasy about just stomping it...
  14. for the record, open diffs own me... Click here to watch subie-offroad-1 Click here to watch subie-offroad-2 Click here to watch subie-water-

    It's done! w00t!

looks sweet. but if the paint scuffed off during install how is it going to hold up on the trail? i was considering building some bumpers... but my idea for a coating is this rubberizing stuff that can be brushed on to metal. once it dries, it forms a layer of rubber that would keep moisture out and probably be pretty decent for protection.
  16. mine 96 legacy is lifted on outback struts and springs. alignment still comes back within spec, no rubbing issues, no longer brake lines/steering shaft extensions etc... i'm clearing 215/65/16's so you shouldn't have any problems.
  17. hey now... don't go takin all the d/r trannies... i still need one for my wagon
  18. haven't been to paragon yet but i hear good things. as for harry's, i'm not all that familiar with the ea81-82 and the differences and such. i do know that there were two older subaru's with the d/r 4x4 transmission and a bunch of other older subies.
  19. depending on date and such i'd probably bring the wagon along... there are a few offroad parks in my neck of the woods... rausch creek outside tower city, pa and paragon offroad adventure park outside hazelton, pa.

    new tires...

thanks! i'll have some new pics up soon. a friend and i are planning on off-road excursion (either rausch creek or a couple local trails) so i'll make sure to get some good pics/vid
  21. i'm planning on going... apparently they have a charity rally that you can participate in friday so i might try to enter that... either way, i will be there saturday for the first few stages... i have a gig that night though
  22. 96 Legacy L Wagon outback struts/springs 215/65/16 General Grabber AT2's on wrx wheels 10" under the rear diff haven't measured the front yet.
  23. http://www.stpr.org/ it's the first weekend in june in wellsboro, PA. thought i'd see if anybody on here was planning on attending.
  24. if i'm not mistaken, you'll need to make sure the ratios are the same between the diff and the tranny, otherwise you'll experience binding... from what i was told, the older diffs will work on the newer car... meaning you might be able to track down an ea-series limited slip diff and swap that in the rear.
  25. that hatch is effin' sweet! looks like a good time
