  1. how can I tell if I have ajustable rear suspension ? what would I look for the same 2 bolts ?
  2. so did you just get it machined then ? or did you actually just bolt it up to the stock EA82 Flywheel ?
  3. I just bought my wagon on the 9th and its already out of commission. Clutch is burned to a crisp, one CV joint is completely shot and the other is gonna be joining it soon. It seems the plan is to pull the motor and replace the clutch. I've got another truck thats got a few miles left in it that I can use for a daily driver so there is SOME time for work to be done. So besides whats broken Clutch and CV's anything else I should be looking to replace ? most of its miles are going to be on mild dirt 4x4 and a lot of snow miles so winter prep is gonna be really important. I was thinking about doing the XT6 swap on the clutch to give it a little something extra in the clutch department. Can anyone give me any price estimates on how much for a XT6 flywheel or to get my EA82T one machined ? I don't know the exact history on the motor but should I be looking to do a timing chain possibly while the motor is out ? is there any bad side to doing one at 40k ? Like I said most of the iffy situations I'm gonna be in are gonna be winter ones. Anything in particular that I can do to make sure the wagon is gonna start after sitting in the snow for 8-9 hours when I go snowboarding? also I've been considering a 1-2" lift something that would give me a little bit of extra clearance but not make it look like a hard core swap beast, IE still looks respectable around town. Can I get a small lift like that "safely" being the key word with just springs ?
  4. Steveman did you end up getting a XT6 flywheel or did you get yours machined?
  5. if your gonna tint the windows don't forget to use limo tint.
  6. What cluches do you guys use ? just OEM replacement ?
  7. My cluch went toast and my right front CV went with it and the left front shows signs of joining the bandwagon. sorry pics will have to wait till tomorrow (not taken on my camra) but since my wagon is my daily driver I need to get it running soon so what choices do I have as far as cluches and cv replacements. I'd rather go with more $ and better reliablity. I saw something on here about a stage 2 clutch for a GL-10 turbo wagon (thats what I have). and what options do I have as far as CV joints ? I have a friend of a friend who works for a subaru dealership so is OEM the way to go or what ? any ideas are welcome. Thanks!
  8. Yep I do have an intercooler. it only happens like right as I hit the boost like when the "turbo" light is on after a few seconds the temp drops right down.
  9. I've got a slightly modafied GL-10 4wd turbo (stock turbo stock EA82) I've noticed when I get into boost, pretty much when I'm going full throttle, my tempature goes up 1 or 2 bars in a matter of seconds. I do have the digital cluster so thats what I mean by 1 or 2 bars. I've never had a water cooled turbo so I don't know if this is normal. I changed my coolant, but could this be a sign that my water pump or radiator is going to need replacing sometime soon ?
  10. I'll be there! Never had a scoop had to cut the hood so the intercooler would fit.
  11. sure is. here are some of the other pics I've taken so far. (sorry they are all crappy cellphone pics:( ) its a 87 GL-10 pushbutton 4wd turbo. intercooler *obviously* custom DP and exhaust other then that its pretty much stock.
  12. Just bought it on friday came with an extra set of rims so now I just need some snow tires and a snowboard rack and I'm good to go!
  13. Hi I've been trolling around for a little bit my second car was an old 84 2wd GL which sadly was totaled when a truck hit it. I'm an avid snowboarder and I'm heading off to college within the next year and a half and while I'm still making some money I'd like to build a reliable but snow worthy subaru. I'll probably be going to WSU or WWU (I live in Olympia WA now) Looking for something thats going to get me decent gas mileage for around town and for trips back home and also not have to worry about coming over the pass in the winter and have no problems getting me up the mountain in the winter. Ideally I would like to take it into a little bit of off road snow but nothing to big as far as mud just some camping trails at the best so I don't think I'd be needing a lift. I'm looking for a subaru right now my inital budget is around $1000-1500 I'd like to get something that ran now just so I wouldn't have to hassle with it that much, but I've done plenty of motor swaps in the past so an EJ22 swap wouldn't be that far of a stretch for me. I guess I'm just looking for any suggestions or recommendations on models/year ranges and modifications that I should be looking into. Thanks, Tosh.
