Here is something I found today. Wednesday July 7, 01:06 AM Japan’s Fuji Heavy to develop diesel engine for cars in Europe, China - report TOKYO (AFX-ASIA) - Japan’s Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd, maker of Subaru brand cars, is gearing up to develop its first diesel engine and plans to start selling cars equipped with the new motor in Europe in around 2008, The Nihon Keizai Shimbun reported, without citing sources. In addition to boosting business in Europe, where diesel-powered vehicles are very popular because of their high fuel economy and lower carbon dioxide emissions, the automaker hopes the engine will also help to increase sales in China, the business daily said. Diesel vehicles are forecast to account for more than 50 pct of new car sales in Europe in 2005, following the European Union’s implementation of a tough emission control regulation, the Nikkei (news) said. Sales of diesel cars are also expected to rise in China because the government there announced in early June that these and hybrid models will be at the core of its automobile environmental technology policy, the report added. Fuji Heavy sold around 580,000 cars worldwide in the past year to March, 80 pct in Japan and North America. The company considers raising sales in Europe from about 50,000 units in fiscal 2003 and increasing business in China as key to its expansion, the report said. A Fuji Heavy factory in Gunma Prefecture, Japan, is expected to make the 2-liter engine. About 30,000 diesel engines are expected to be made annually, for use in Subaru’s Legacy, Forester and Impreza series of cars.

My Subaru was stolen from the back of my apartment in Vancouver sometime today. It is a 1988 GL 10 Automatic with ugly silver wheel covers. It has a rake to it, the back end is much higher than the front. It is Dark Grey in color. Hope someone finds it.

I have a 88 GL Turbo. When it is cold, it has way more power than when hot. Is there any way to fool the computer so the car has more power all the time. Can you do something with the water temperature sensor? Is there anything else I can do? The car has a stock intake and a catalytic with no muffler.

Its what you want. Do you want manual or electric choke. The kit is about $469US plus about $15 for shipping for an electric choke kit. Thats the price we have. If you are interested call me at 604-879-6288.

If the 32/36 DFAV works for PS on EA82, then it is time to search for........... Holley 5200 (Motorcraft as well) with thread on linkage and changeable idle jets. Be careful, there are some Chevettes with a miniature Holley 5200 that has barrels just big enough for your pinkie.

Used Weber Carbs - Where to look Ok, for all you guys that hunt JY's. If you are going to look for a Weber Carb, this is what you should look for. First I will mark the cars and trucks, and then the model of carbs. I will be pleased to tell you if the carb is worthwhile if you find something else. I have the repair kits available. Vehicles Datsun/Nissan - carbureted trucks and cars pre 1986 L, Z, A, E series engines Toyota - Corolla pre 87, Celica-pre 81, Land Cruiser 80's and earlier, Pickups pre-88 Mazda - B2600, B2200 trucks. Most cars had people that didnt care about performance other than rotaries Suzuki - 1300 Samurai Mitsubishi/Dodge D50 - carbureted pickups, Raiders, Colt front drives BMW - 2002 with 2 barrel manifolds (best place to find Webers) Opel - Opel GT Volvo-non fuel injection cars (144, 122) Jeep-CJ, Wrangler with 258 motor Ford - Old Cortina mark 1 (1967?) Carbs to use 32/36 DGV (manual choke), 32/36 DGAV (auto choke), 32 DGAV, 32 DGV 38 DGAS Maximum performance, mileage will be lower 36 DCD, 28/36 DCD Questionable carbs Holley 5200/Weber 32/36 DFAV - linkage reversed to DGV series, most Holleys have linkage that is not bolted on and some have non changeable idle jets, throttle shafts wear easy Fiat Webers, DMSA series harder to get parts, linkage reversed, 1800 carbs will not fit adaptor Renault Webers DIR series- same as Fiat If you are handy, and have access to parts, the Renault and Fiat carbs will work OK

Ok, If you look at my posts from before, I have all the info for Webers. There are no "rebuilt" Webers. I would not reccomend the 32/36 DFEV. The linkage is reversed to the DG series and it flows less air. DGV-manual choke DGAV-Water Choke There is no Weber stamped 32/36 DGEV. All electric choke Webers started life as a water choke. They were converted somewhere down the line. I will post my other report in the next window.

I had a puffing sound in my cars exhaust, sounded good, but I know it needed to be looked at. I went to Muffler Man in Burnaby last Saturday, they put it on the hoist and the pipe going to the muffler was bagged. So they cut the muffler and the pipe off and i showed him the muffler that I was interested in having installed. It was too wide. So I asked to hear what it sounded like with no muffler. It sounded good. So, I told him to put 2 1/2" pipe from just ahead of the flange in front of the rear axle all the way back. I now have WRX sound.

with 2 million 3rd party liability, no collision and 200 comprehensive, I pay about 90 a month. -
If I was not going to get a Subaru, I would look at a 99 on Golf, Jetta or Beetle with the TDI diesel. They have extremely good economy and very good power. You have to find someone that has the special tools for the timing belt repair. The early cars needed a new belt at 60k miles and the 01 on is good for 100k miles.

efi starts, but dies immediately

Im not sure about this, but on cars with a ballast resistor in the ignition, the starter circuit has high voltage, but then the ballast cuts the voltage to the ignition. Then the engine runs faster after that, it gets more voltage. Could the ignition be cutting out after the engine starts? -
I'm doing a comparative on the data sheet from Subaru Canada's website TS Sedan has a chrome exhaust tip RS has leather shifter and e-brake handle TS has no rear spoiler RS has fog lights as standard equipment When I was doing the research before, the RS has different seats, and it has Impreza WRX suspension, without the limited slip rear axle. What I found was that it was very hard to find an RS. I really think you should visit the dealer and drive both cars.
